B. 1-Phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolon-2'-, -3'- bzw.
Process for the preparation of reactive monoazo dyes The invention relates to a process for the preparation of reactive monoazo dyes of the formula
EMI0001.0005
where Hal is chlorine or bromine, R and R2 are hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxy, R3 is hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxy or
if R1 and / or R2 are alkyl or alkoxy, they are also halogen, R4 is methyl, carboxyl or an optionally substituted carboxamide or carboxylic acid ester radical and A is an aryl radical.
The process for their preparation is characterized in that one monoazo dyes of the formula
EMI0001.0027
condensed with the hydroxymethylamide of a haloacetic acid in a medium containing sulfuric acid.
In the monoazo dyes of the formula (IT), the substituents can be the following chemical groups: R 1 and R 2 are hydrogen or a low molecular weight alkyl and alkoxy, but preferably methyl, methoxy or ethoxy, R 3 is a substituent of the same type as R 1 and R 2, in addition also halogen, preferably chlorine, under the condition
that at least one of the substituents R1 and R2 is alkyl or alkoxy, R4 is methyl, carboxyl, carbethoxy, carbophenoxy, carboxamide with or without N-substituents such as.
B. methyl, ethyl, hydroxyethyl and phenyl, A is an aryl group of the benzene or naphthalene series, which in addition to the sulfonic acid group already mentioned in the formula can carry other substituents, such as. B. alkyl, (methyl, ethyl), halogen (Cl, Br), -S03-1, -CN and NH-acyl (NH-CO-CH "-NH-CO-CH, -Cl).
Typical dyes of the formula (II), as they can be used for the present invention, are the products of the azo coupling of diazo- tated amines, such as. B. aminobenzene, 4-methyl-, 2,4- or 2,5-dimethyl-, 2,4,6-trimethyl-1-aminobenzene, 2-chloro-4-methyl-1-aminobenzene, 4-methoxy - or 4-ethoxy-l-aminobenzene, 2,5-dimethoxy- or 2,5-diethoxy-l-aminobenzene,
2-chloro-4-methoxy- or -4-ethoxy-l-aminobenzene, with pyrazolones, such as. B. 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-2'-, -3'- or -4'-sulfonic acid or -2 ', 4'- or
-2 ', 5'-disulfonic acid, 1- (2'-5'-dichloro) -phenyl - 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-4'-sulfonic acid, 1- (2'-chloro-6'-methyl) - phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-4'-sulfonic acid, 1-phenyl-3-carboxy-5-pyrazolone-4'-sulfonic acid.
The condensation of the dye of formula (II) with the hydroxymethylamide of a haloacetic acid re, z. B. bromoacetic acid or preferably chloroacetic acid is advantageously carried out in a sulfuric acid with a water content of up to 20%.
Under these conditions the reaction can be carried out at room temperature or at a slightly elevated temperature, e.g. B. between 0 and 40 C, and with a reaction time of one hour to 2 days. The low reaction temperature has the advantage that side reactions, such as. B. sulfonation of the azo dyes used, hardly ever occur. However, if you want to force the condensation at higher temperatures, the use of acetic acid is recommended as a solvent, depending on the reactivity of the dyes used, up to 50% sulfuric acid can be added as the condensing agent and the reaction can be carried out at the boiling point.
With a suitable choice of conditions, sulfonation and other side reactions can also be suppressed in this way.
After the condensation has ended, the sulfuric acid mass can be poured onto ice and water, then optionally salted out, filtered off with suction, washed neutral with a salt solution and dried.
The dyes obtainable according to the invention enter into a chemical bond with the fiber and dye wool, silk, leather, synthetic polyamide fibers and fibers made from natural and regenerated cellulose in yellow shades of excellent light and wet fastness.
In the following examples, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
Example 1 46.6 parts of the yellow azo dye obtained by alkaline coupling of diazotized 1-amino-2,4-dimethylbenzene with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone -2 ', 5 '-disulfonic acid is obtained, and 24.3 parts of methylol chloroacetamide are mixed well in a mortar and added in portions at 0-5 in 700 parts of 96% strength sulfuric acid. The mixture is stirred for 6 hours without cooling and the deep yellow solution is then poured onto 1,800 parts of ice.
The dye initially precipitates, but goes back into solution. Most of the dye crystallizes out over the course of 12 hours. It is filtered off with suction, dissolved in water, made neutral and reprecipitated with table salt. After suction and drying at 50 in a vacuum, it is a yellow powder that dissolves in water with a yellow color.
Example 2 45.5 parts of the yellow azo dye which is obtained by alkaline coupling of diazotized 1-amino-2,4-dimethylbenzene with 1- (2 ', 5'-dichloro) -phenyl-3- methyl-5-pyrazoloil-4'-sulfonic acid is obtained, and 24.3 parts of methylolchloroacetamide are mixed well in a mortar and added in portions at 0-5 to 700 parts of 98% strength sulfuric acid. The mixture is stirred for 12 hours without cooling and then poured onto 1,600 parts of ice. The dye precipitates.
It is filtered off with suction, dissolved in 1000 parts of water, clarified with kieselguhr and neutralized at 10 with dilute sodium hydroxide solution. After adding 1000 parts of 20% strength sodium chloride solution and a little acetic acid, the dye gradually crystallizes out.
It is filtered off and dried at 50 in a vacuum.
Dyeing instructions 2 parts of the above dye are dissolved in 4000 parts of cold water and heated to 40%. Two parts of acetic acid and 3 parts of a mixture of a polyoxyethylated fatty amine and an alkyl polyglycol ether are added and 100 parts of a woolen fabric are then added. It is brought to the boil within 15-20 minutes and kept at the boiling temperature for 45-60 minutes. About 3 parts of 25% strength ammonia or 3 parts of hexamethylenetetramine are then added at 85-90 and treated at 90 for 20 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly by adding a little acetic acid to the rinsing water in one passage, and then drying.
A wash-, sweat- and squeeze-fast, and also good lightfast, level yellow dyeing is obtained.
