Dial Bathymeter The present invention relates to a dial bathymeter, comprising an indicator moving opposite a depth scale.
This bathymeter is characterized by the fact that it is provided with a rotating bezel having a diving time scale and an index, all so that by placing said index of the rotating bezel opposite a given graduation of the depth scale, we can read on the time scale of the telescope, next to a fixed index, the maximum duration that the dive, at the depth envisaged, must not exceed so that the return to the surface can be carried out without a decompression stop, the indicating device making it possible to check, during the dive, that the envisaged depth is not exceeded.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a plan view of a dial bathymeter fitted with a bracelet allowing it to be worn on the wrist, and FIG. 2 is a view of a detail, on a larger scale.
The bathymeter shown comprises an indicator needle 1 whose movements are produced by the variations in the pressure of the ambient medium, using a mechanism known per se, not shown because it is foreign to the present invention. This needle moves opposite a graduated scale 2 carried by a dial 3. This scale is calibrated in units of depth; dial 3 also carries a fixed index 4.
The device is fitted with a protective glass and a rotating bezel 5 surrounding this glass. This bezel 5 has a graduated scale 6, calibrated in units of time, and an index 7.
The time scale 6 is such that, if one brings by a rotation of the bezel 5 the index 7 thereof facing one of the graduations of the scale 2, corresponding to the depth at which the wearer of the bathymeter intends to carry out a dive, one can read on the timescale 6, opposite the in- can read on the timescale 6, next to the envisaged depth , must not protrude so that the return to the surface can take place without a decompression stop.
These maximum dive times as a function of depth can be taken from known tables; see for example the tables of the French National Navy, of the U.S. Navy, or of the Royal Navy, which correspond substantially to each other.
The device is used as follows Before diving, the: diver sets the device as indicated above - and reads on scale 6 the time that his dive, at the planned depth, must not exceed . During the dive, the needle 1 constantly indicating the depth at which the diver is, the latter can check that this depth does not exceed the planned depth. Finally, using a time counter or a watch, the diver checks that the duration of his dive does not exceed the time indicated on scale 6 of bezel 5, allowing him a direct return to the area.
The device can also be used, during a dive, when the diver is at a depth that he did not foresee at the start; it then brings the index 7 of the rotating bezel opposite

hand 1 and reads the time indicated on graduation 6 by the fixed index 4. I1 can then check, using a watch or a time counter that it will have engaged at the start of the dive , if it is still within the duration of the no-decompression dive.
