Description

Packaging for products sensitive to oxidation
Vegetable oils are generally classified according to their behavior with regard to oxygen.

As they all have the power to fix atmospheric oxygen, they are all subject to oxidation.

It is therefore essential to place them inside packaging which insulates them from the air.

Plastics for food products, such as high or low pressure polyethylene or polypropylene, are not suitable as such for the manufacture of such packaging, as they are not impervious to oxygen, and oil or any other similar product they contain become rancid quickly.

The object of the invention is a packaging which is perfectly sealed and impermeable to oxygen whatever the duration of storage.

The packaging according to the invention comprises an inner container sealed in a plastic material permeable to oxygen and intended to contain the product, this container being placed in an oxygen-tight sheath and in direct contact with the container at least on most of the surface of the container, and the sleeve being sealed separately from the container.

The appended drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the packaging which is the subject of the invention.

Fig. 1 is a view of the container intended to contain the product.

   Fig. 2 represents the sheath.

Fig. 3 shows the receptacle coated with said sheath.

The container 1, fig. 1, has the shape of a bottle comprising a swollen neck 2 provided with a protruding pouring spout 3. The upper part 4 of the bottle, above the swelling neck 2, is sealed, for example by welding, after the container has been filled.

The sheath 5, fig. 2, is closed at its base 6 and has an opening 7, 8, through which the container 1 is introduced into the sheath 5, which therefore surrounds the container. The sheath 5 is then welded at its upper end 7, 8, so that the packaging is hermetically insulated at its upper end 10 (FIG. 3).

The sheath 5 can be made of plasticized paper, cellulose, cellulose acetate, etc., or of a film having received an insulating and air-impermeable coating.

The upper end 10 and the upper part 9 of the sheath 5 can be pleated so that, as shown in FIG. 3, the packaging retains the shape and profile of the container 1.

The sheath can be coated with a coating which, if it had been in direct contact with the oil, would not have resisted it or would have been dissolved by it.

At the time of use, the user cuts the sheath 5 around the spout 3 so as to leave an orifice 11. The end of the spout 3 is cut at the same time and the container 1 is used exactly as if it there was no sheath 5.

The tension of the sheath 5 on the container 1 strengthens and protects it. Text printed on the container will not be removed but will retain its shiny or new appearance, so that the packaging in which the products are presented does not appear worn.

Finally, the sheath can not only constitute a screen against oxidation, or a means to prevent the oil from going rancid, but it can also be used as a screen against radiation capable of causing discoloration or decomposition of the oil. .

The sheath can be applied as is or by using a light fixing agent which ensures sufficient adhesion so that air does not enter between the two surfaces.

This packaging is particularly suitable for edible oils, but it can also be used for all products capable of being oxidized.
