<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Timepiece with oscillating regulating member, consisting of a tuning fork, electrically maintained The present invention relates to a timepiece with oscillating regulating member, consisting of a tuning fork, electrically maintained.
This timepiece is characterized by the fact that it comprises a counting mechanism comprising at least one permanent magnet carried by said tuning fork and moving opposite at least one rotating part, at least the circumference of which is made of magnetic material. , the axis of which is perpendicular to the plane of the oscillations of the tuning fork, and which is connected to a counting train and is subjected, at least indirectly, to the action of a retaining device preventing it from turning in a retrograde direction, the direction of movement of said magnet being substantially perpendicular to the radius of said rotating member passing through the position of the magnet at rest, all so that the regulating member drives said rotating part step by step, in one direction only, by magnetic attraction .
Magnetic coupling devices are known in which a wheel, the periphery of which has a corrugated magnetic part, is magnetically driven by a permanent magnet carried by a pendulum moving in a plane parallel to the axis of rotation of the wheel. Magnetic couplings are also known in which a wheel having radial arms of special shape is driven by a magnet with two branches oscillating in a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation of said wheel. The drive is provided by the particular shape of the arms of the wheel. Finally, magnetic couplings are also known in which a magnetic bar oscillates in a radial plane relative to the wheel which drives it.
The object of the present invention is to provide an electric timepiece provided with a magnetic coupling device different from those mentioned above, of very great constructive simplicity.
The drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention and two variants. Fig. 1 is a schematic plan view of the oscillating regulator member and of the counting mechanism of an electric timepiece.
Fig. 2 is a section taken along line II-II of FIG. 1, a variant being indicated in phantom. Fig. 3 is a section similar to that of FIG. 2 of a variant.
The timepiece of FIGS. 1 and 2 comprises, as an oscillating regulating member, a tuning fork 1, the oscillations of which are electrically maintained by a device not shown. One of the branches 1a of tuning fork 1 carries, driven into its free end, a permanent magnet 2, while the second branch carries, also driven out at its end, a balancing stud 3. When tuning fork 1 vibrates, magnet 2 moves, following arrow 4, opposite a disc 5, made of magnetic material, for example soft iron, wedged on a shaft 6.
This shaft carries a pinion 7 engaged with a wheel 8 belonging to a counting train; the latter ends in an indicator member such as a needle. The disc 5 has an external toothing 9, with wolf teeth, with which an elastic blade 10 cooperates, forming a retaining pawl, preventing the disc 5 from rotating in the opposite direction to that of clockwise.
The permanent magnet 2 moves in the immediate vicinity of the upper face, designated by 11, of the disc 5. During the movements of the magnet 2,

the latter drives the wheel 5, still in the same direction, due to the retaining pawl 10. The device described therefore operates like a drive pawl, but by magnetic means, without material contact between the member. vibrating, in this case the tuning fork, and the first mobile of the counting device.
As a variant, the shaft 6 may carry a second disc of magnetic material, shown schematically in phantom lines, and designated by 12, in FIG. 2. The permanent magnet 2 will move in the immediate vicinity of this second disc 12, as is the case for the disc 5. It could even be provided that the two discs 5 and 12 are in one piece, and have at their periphery an annular groove into which the end of the oscillating member carrying the permanent magnet would penetrate.
In the variant of FIG. 3, the end of the tuning fork arm, designated by 13, has two fingers 13a each carrying a permanent magnet 14. These two magnets, during the vibration of the tuning fork, move on either side of a disc, respectively. 15, in magnetic material, similar to the disc 5 of the first embodiment.
The shaft 20 further carries a pinion 23 engaged with a wheel 24 belonging to a counting train leading to an indicator member, for example a needle.
During the oscillations of the balance 16, the permanent magnet 17 passes in the immediate vicinity of the upper face 25, which is rough, of the arms 19a of the rotating part 19, driving the latter step by step, in the direction of needles. a watch.
In order to avoid the influence of magnetic fields external to the timepiece, it will be possible to provide the latter with protective screens.
The elastic blade 10, forming a retaining pawl, may be replaced by other devices, for example by magnetic retaining devices.
