Fig. 2 ist ein zugehöriger Aufriss.
The invention relates to a method for grinding the involute gear tooth flanks of helical gears and a device for carrying out the method.
A peculiarity of such a tooth flank is that two points which are located on it at the tooth root or at the tooth tip and in different planes perpendicular to the wheel axis can be connected by an inclined straight line running in the flank. Thus, a straight edge of a body can touch this edge between the two points without interruption.
Likewise, a concave work surface can be formed on its periphery on a grinding wheel, which is complementary to the convex tooth flank in the sense that two specific points located at different distances from the axis are connected to one another by an inclined straight line running on it can be.
It follows from this that the line of contact between such a tooth flank and such a working surface is an inclined straight line. But the cross-section of the work surface is not identical to that of the tooth flank; rather, the cross-section of the work surface has a slightly smaller curvature than that of the tooth flank. The straight line of contact will always be called generative in the following.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that one works with a grinding wheel which has a concave working surface on both sides on the circumference, which is designed so that it is connected with mutually facing flanks of adjacent teeth of the workpiece along a straight generating line is in contact, and that during the movement of the grinding wheel in the longitudinal direction of the tooth gap existing between the tooth flanks being processed, the workpiece is given a rotary movement.
The invention also relates to a device for carrying out this method, characterized in that, in addition to the said grinding wheel, it has means for bringing about a linear relative movement between the grinding wheel and the workpiece for the purpose of moving the grinding wheel along the tooth gaps being processed and means for simultaneous granting a rotational movement to the workpiece.
The method according to the invention is also explained, for example, with the aid of the accompanying drawing, which represents an exemplary embodiment of the machine according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is an end view of part of the grinding wheel.
Fig. 2 is a related elevation.
3 is a cross section of an adjacent pair of teeth of the workpiece with the grinding wheel in the working position.
Fig. 4 shows a plan view of the relative position of the grinding wheel and gear at the beginning of a grinding process.
5 and 6 show in elevation and side elevation a device for dressing the grinding wheel working surfaces.
7 and 8 show in elevation and side elevation, respectively, partially in section, a device for imparting rotational movements to the workpiece during the grinding operations, and FIG. 9 shows in elevation a device to which the above-mentioned devices belong.
The grinding wheel a shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 has on its circumference a pair of identical, cross-sectional concave working surfaces b of such a shape that points such as c, d can be connected to one another by a straight generating end c-d.
If the grinding wheel is in the working position between opposite flanks e of neighboring workpiece teeth, the working surfaces b touch these flanks along a straight line, although the working surfaces have a slightly smaller curvature than the tooth flanks.
At the beginning of a grinding process, the grinding wheel a and the already pre-machined work piece f are opposed to each other, as shown in FIG. The grinding wheel axis is then inclined to the axis of the workpiece, but essentially at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the teeth. When grinding, the workpiece is moved back and forth, in a straight line movement in the direction of arrow g Rich and it is also given a rotary movement in the direction of arrow h. The grinding wheel could also be moved back and forth in a straight line, in which case the workpiece would also have to be given a rotary movement.
In addition, the workpiece must be rotated further by one tooth pitch between successive grinding processes. In Fig. 4, the teeth are indicated with straight lines instead of with helical lines.
The shape to be given to the grinding wheel working surfaces can be determined geometrically; Templates are expediently used for transferring to the grinding wheel. FIGS. 5 and 6 show a device which is suitable for this purpose. Two vertical guides m are formed on a frame k , between which a slide n can be raised and lowered by means of a cure drive o, p . A longitudinal slide q can be moved horizontally forwards and backwards on the slide n by actuating a screw spindle r.
On the longitudinal slide q, two slides s are slidably guided in a horizontal direction at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the spindle r.
These slides s move in opposite directions, namely away from each other under the action of springs t which are located on lugs u of the longitudinal slide q and on support the slide s. On their sides facing away from one another, the carriages s each have a sensor v which is pressed against an associated template w by the associated spring t. The profile of the template is precisely modeled on that of the tooth flank to be produced. The templates are adjustably attached to the frame k in such a way that their surface lines run parallel to lines that are at right angles to the axis of rotation of the grinding wheel.
Dressing tools x equipped with diamonds are attached to the ends of the carriages s facing one another. To dress the grinding wheel work surfaces, the slide n is moved up and down; the slides s perform horizontal movements with respect to the slide n, which are controlled by the templates w; at the same time, the longitudinal slide q is moved horizontally by actuating the spindle r. Due to the resulting movement, the dressing tools x generate the required work surface profile on the grinding wheel.
As already mentioned, the workpiece must be given rotational movements during the grinding process, for which various devices are suitable. Such a device is shown in FIGS. 7 and 8 represents. The spindle 10, on which the workpiece f is firmly set, is supported at one of its ends on a driving spindle 11 mounted in a slide 12 and is connected to it in a rotationally fixed manner. A collar 13 of the drive spindle 11 is wrapped by tight, flexible metal strips 14, one end of which is attached to this collar and the other end to a slide rod 15. A disk 16 is attached to a stationary part of the device so that it can be rotated, which disk is stationary after its adjustment and to which a control ruler 17 is attached.
With this work together roles, the carrier 18 is pivotally mounted at the Obe Ren end of the slide rod 15. The whole thing is evidently set up in such a way that with each feed movement of the workpiece, the slide rod executes a vertical movement proportional to the path and the drive spindle 11 together with the workpiece support spindle 10 and the workpiece via the belts 14 gives a rotational movement proportional to the path.
During grinding, the grinding wheel touches the tooth flanks only along the straight line generating the; thus the shaping of the tooth flanks is done by a so-called generating effect, in contrast to those other gear grinding processes in which it is the profile of the working surface of the grinding wheel that corresponds exactly to that of the finish-machined tooth flank.
If the tooth flank is to be given a profile shape that is composed of sections of different involutes, each with its own generating line, then only the shape of the working surfaces of the grinding wheel needs to be changed accordingly. In this case, too, the grinding wheel only touches the tooth flank along a generating line at any given time.
The devices described belong to a machine, the general structure of which corresponds to that of commercially available gear grinding machines. A rudimentary embodiment of such a machine is shown in FIG.
On a bed 20, a slide 21 is guided longitudinally movable in the horizontal direction, which is also set up to support the workpiece f and carries the housing 12 of the device, which is used to issue rotary movements to the workpiece. A horizontal guide 22 is arranged above the bed 20, along which a carriage 23 is movable, which carries the grinding disk a. The control ruler 17 can also be adjustably attached to this guide.
In the extension of the bed 20, the frame k of the dressing device described above with reference to FIGS. 5 and 6 is set up in a stationary manner. Every time the grinding wheel has to be dressed, the carriage 23 is moved along the guide 22 until the grinding wheel is between the dressing tools x, in order to be brought back into working position afterwards.
