Dans la première forme d'exécution, l'étau coin- prend deux mâchoires 1 et 2 dont le serrage est commandé par un tourniquet 3. 4 représente un support présentant un dispositif de serrage 5 pour la fixation de l'étau à un établi 6.
Les deux vis de fixation 7 de l'étau à son socle maintiennent également une plaquette 8 sur laquelle est soudé un tube horizontal 9 dans lequel coulisse une tige 10. Cette dernière présente, à l'une de ses extrémités, une douille verticale 11 dans laquelle coulisse une tige intermédiaire 12 présentant à son tour une douille 13 pour la tige 14 d'un support horizontal 15. Ce supporta une section droite en forme de V et passe entre les deux mâchoires de l'étau. 16, 17 et 18 représentent des vis de blo cage pour la fixation axiale des tiges.
Réglé pour les mêmes pièces d'une série, par exemple pour le cylindre 19 représenté en traits mixtes, le dispositif permet leur serrage rapide et leur positionnement exact. En outre, la pièce peut être soumise à des forces de travail élevées sans qu'un serrage trop violent soit nécessaire.
Dans une variante non représentée, on pourrait poser le cylindre sur le support en prévoyant avec les mâchoires un certain jeu pour l'introduction d'une bande métallique ; on disposerait ainsi d'un outil lage pour couder ou pour arrondir cette bande.
Dans la seconde forme d'exécution, le dispositif comprend une tige horizontale 20 et une tige verti cale 21 dont l'extrémité supérieure présente une butée 22 destinée à supporter une pièce 23, serrée par l'une de ses parties 24 entre les mâchoires de l'étau. Ce dispositif permet de positionner et de tra- vailler aisément une pièce dont la forme rend son serrage dans un étau habituel difficile.
Dans la variante représentée en fig. 5, le tube 9, portant la première tige 10, est soudé à une bride 25 vissée à une nervure verticale 26 disposée sur la face inférieure de l'étau, transversalement à celui-ci.
Bien entendu, les deux formes d'exécution décri tes pourraient être combinées entre elles ou pour raient encore présenter chacune un nombre indéter miné de supports orientés dans diverses directions et maintenus par d'autres dispositifs mécaniques. En outre, le dispositif décrit pourrait également se fixer, non pas sur un étau, mais bien directement sur un établi.

The two fixing screws 7 of the vice to its base also hold a plate 8 on which is welded a horizontal tube 9 in which slides a rod 10.
