l'orientation :de l'appareil. Les deux paires de barres 10, 12 reliant .les pièces C, D et E sont extensibles; chaque paire peut prendre trois ou quatre positions, de sorte que l'appareil peut être employé sur des planches die diffé rentes grandeurs. Chaque barre se compose d'un tube intérieur 12 présentant dans sa lon gueur trois ou quatre rainures circulaires 50 (fig. 4) dans lesquelles peut venir se lober d'extrémité -d'un tube extérieur 10, laquelle extrémité possède un renflement 51 intérieur;
La, poignée est for mée de deux parties:, soit une partie supérieure 25 et une partie inférieure 26. La, partie. su périeure 25 é-t rendue solidaire en rotation de l'axe 20, donc solidaire du porte-règles 17, par une goupille 22;
Chacun de ces bras est traversé par une vis 31 ma.nmuvrable au moyen d'un poulet 27, cette vis 31 étant destinée à venir se visser dans un trou taraudé de la. règle afin de bloquer celle-ci par rapport audit bras. Z'tie vis 29 est vissée dans la rènle et traverse une ouverture allongée prévue dans la glissière 28, ce qui permet -de déplacer la règle d'un petit angle par rapport à sa .glissière;
Il .est évident que l'appareil pourrait être construit d'une manière :différente ide la cons truction représentée au dessin. C'est ainsi que les pièces 3.5 pourraient être remplacées par une équerre graduée à 90 , la graduation en centimètres et millimètres étant faite sur .les côtés faisant un. ,angle droit;
Extendable drawing device. The present invention relates to an extensible drawing apparatus, comprising a fixing part, a joint and a ruler holder head,
these parts being interconnected by means of bars. This device is characterized by the fact that these bars are .extensible in order to be able to use the device on boards of different sizes, the ruler head consisting of a vernier,
the rule holder itself and a handle, the latter consisting of two parts which can be moved axially with respect to one another,
one of the parts being integral with an axa fixed to the center of the ruler holder and the other being mounted freely on this axis, between the vernier and the fixed part, and being pressed by a spring against the vernier in order to block on the porie-rules,
so that it is possible, by acting with a single hand on said second part of the handle, against the spring, to unlock the ruler holder with respect to the vernier in order to change the position rules,
compared to this one. The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the apparatus according to the invention, as well as a variant.
Fig. 1 is a plan view of said embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a section taken along line A-A of FIG. 1.
Fig. 8 is a section along the line B -B of the fimg. 2.
Fig. 4 is a section representing a detaà.
The apparatus shown consists of three main parts: a fixing part C, a joint D and, a ruler head B, parts which are interconnected by two pairs of bars 10 , 12.
The fixing part C allows to fix a device permanently to a board -au to a drawing table. For this purpose, it included an angle piece 2,
with two holes - intended to receive - two screws for fixing - of the piece to the board or -table. On -this piece 2 is targeted, with the mayen of a chicken 4 and by inserting a ring 3, an attachment flange 5 of a first pair of bars 10, 12. The chicken 4 loosened allows.
orientation: of the device. The two pairs of bars 10, 12 connecting the parts C, D and E are extensible; each pair can take three or four positions, so that the apparatus can be used on boards of different sizes. Each bar consists of an inner tube 12 having in its length three or four circular grooves 50 (FIG. 4) in which the end of an outer tube 10 can be lobed, which end has an inner bulge 51. ;
this end is split lom@gitudina.lemen.t over a length of 2 to 3 cm in order to give this end the elasticity necessary to allow it to engage in the grooves of the tube 12.
The tubes, 10, 12 can be blocked in a determined relative position, by means of the -dispositif shown in section in the fib. 4. This device consists of a ring 52 sliding on the tube 10.
This ring will be. slid on the tube 10 before the introduction of the tube 12 and will be. slipped behind the slit end of tube 10, as this will expand upon insertion of tube 12, due to the presence of bulge 51.
After bringing the tubes 10 and 12 into the desired relative position, in which the bulge 51 fits into a groove 50, the ring 52 will be slid towards the expanded end of the tube 10, which will cause a ser rage dè said end on the tube 12, so that these two tubes will be blocked in their respective positions.
In the drawing, the bore of the ring 52 is slightly conical. However, this bore could also be cylindrical. Likewise, it would be possible to fix the ring by means of a dte screw provided on the end of the tube 10 and cooperating with an internal thread provided in the ring.
The ruler holder head consists of a ruler holder itself 17, a vernier 18 and a handle 25, 26. In the center of the ruler holder 17 is fixed the axis 20 of the handle 25, \? 6; in addition, the ruler holder comprises the reference 40 of the vernier 18 and a device for attaching two rulers 35.
The vernier 18, to which is connected the second pair of bars, 10, 12, is placed between the rule holder 17 and the. handle 25, 26; it has at its lower part a circular angular projection 41, which is in a corresponding groove of the rule holder 1. "7, thus forming a locking brake between the plate of the vernier 18 and the holder. rules 17.
The handle is formed from two parts: either an upper part 25 and a lower part 26. The part. upper 25 e-t made integral in rotation with the axis 20, therefore integral with the rule holder 17, by a pin 22;
in addition, it is hand held axially on this axis 20 by a nut 24, the upper part of the axis being conical. The lower part 26 of the handle is free on the axis 20 and rests. pressed by a coil spring 21, on the vernier 18. Between the upper part 25 and the. lower part 26 is a clearance allowing axial movement of the. lower part 26.
To orient the rules 35 according to a determined angle. the operation is carried out with the left hand alone, by exerting an axial pressure upwards by the fingers on the lower part 26 of the. grip, the palm of the hand remaining on the. upper part 25 of the handle. 1.e ms-zort 21 will therefore be compressed and the brake between the two plates 17, 18 will be released and the left hand will be able to orient the rulers 35 to the desired angle.
A spring 33 and a ball 34 will automatically give the positions of 0, 15, 30, 45, 60 and 90, that is to say the currents in the. construction.
At each end of the rulers 35 is fixed a slide 28 making it possible to fix each ruler, by one or the other of its ends., On an arm of the ruler holder 17. the latter comprising two arms forming between them an angle of 90.
Each of these arms is crossed by a screw 31 ma.nmuvrable by means of a chicken 27, this screw 31 being intended to come to be screwed into a tapped hole of the. rule in order to block it relative to said arm. Z'tie screw 29 is screwed into the roll and passes through an elongated opening provided in the slide 28, which allows -de move the rule of a small angle relative to its. Slide;
.the rules 35 are removable., interchangeable and reversible for carrying out work with a line puller. The rulers 35 are removed by simply unclamping the chicken 27 without any tools. For line pulling work, the graduated part of the horizontal ruler is placed downwards and gives the possibility of being able to check the measurements at any time.
In a variant, in order to be able to fix the device in a removable manner, the horn piece 1 is replaced by a U, piece as indicated in FIG. 2 in phantom. This part carries a screw, clamping 7 provided with parts 8 and 9.
The appliance can be fixed on a longitudinal or transverse edge of a board or even at any angle thanks to the pivoting of the flange 5 (fig. 2) by loosening the chicken 4, allowing the o.rien- tation @of the device.
It is also because chicken 4 that, when changing the design, we can precisely adjust the position of the rulers. 35, according to the position of the axis of the drawing.
On the other hand, the apparatus can be fixed on tables of all shapes, whether rectangular, round, oval or polygonal, the orientation of the rulers being adjustable horizontally and vertically by rotation. die the attachment flange 5.
The extendable bars allow the device to be reduced to a small dimension, so that it can be easily transported.
Obviously, the apparatus could be constructed in a manner different from the construction shown in the drawing. Thus the parts 3.5 could be replaced by a square graduated to 90, the graduation in centimeters and millimeters being made on the sides forming one. ,right angle;
this arrangement can be useful for the execution of small sins.
To facilitate work .on a vertical board, the apparatus could include a d @ i: positive counterweight. Likewise, it could be useful to have a set of graduated rules at different scales, these rules can be easily changed.
