Braking device on vehicles The invention relates to a braking device on vehicles such as motorcycles, bicycles and Mo peds, which is provided with acting on a wheel rim brake shoes that with the help of a hand lever over a longitudinally displaceable in a casing, flexible. Pulling element can be actuated against the influence of a return spring.
According to the requirements that make fast, safe and effortless brake actuation on devices of this type, the ventilation game of the brake shoes should be kept within relatively narrow limits. As a result, there are occasional disadvantages, for example when changing a wheel, since wide pneumatic tires cannot be removed through the opening of the brake shoes that is adapted to the narrow rims. Enlarging the brake shoe opening with the conventional adjusting devices is cumbersome and also requires re-setting of the brake game.
Now it is possible, however, with certain known Fel genbremsvorrichtungen to move the pulling element and its casing against each other so that the brake shoes open even further from their readiness statement. This. Up to now, however, moving it has been very cumbersome and time-consuming and required that the original, small ventilation clearance be set again after the wheel was reinstalled. If this was neglected or not carried out with the necessary care, the braking device was no longer fully functional, which of course meant a danger.
In a known construction, the pulling element and its casing had to be moved in relation to one another by turning a small handwheel for a long time. Other known designs, however, required that either the pivot axis of the hand lever was released and inserted into other bearing bores, or that the end nipple of the cable sheath was unhooked from a notch in the bearing block of the hand lever or hung in this.
Still other known devices have a manually adjustable organ that can be set from an effective to an inoperative position, and also allows a longitudinal displacement of the pulling element and its casing in relation to each other to move the brake shoes from their standby position to open or to be able to return to their readiness position.
The braking device according to the invention is characterized in that the adjustable member is a pawl which is pivotably mounted on the bearing block of the hand lever and which, in the operative position, forms a stop for the hand lever to allow its movement in the sense of opening the brake shoes in their ready position to limit, the pawl can be pivoted out of the range of motion of the hand lever in order to be able to open the brake shoes even further for removing and installing the wheel.
This design has the significant advantage that the further opening of the brake shoes beyond the standby position or the return of the brake shoes to the standby position can be done by simply pivoting the latch that serves as a stop for the hand lever. Another advantage is that after the pawl has been pivoted back into its effective position, the clearance of the brake shoes is the same as before without further action.
For the safety of the driver, it is advantageous if the braking device is exactly as effective when operating the hand lever, whether the pawl is in its operative position or has accidentally been left in its swung out and thus ineffective seed position. In the second case, the hand lever only needs to cover a greater distance until the brake shoes touch the rim.
On the accompanying drawing, an example of Ausfüh the invention is shown.
Fig. 1 shows the braking device in braking ready shaft position, partly in view and partly in section; Fig. 2 shows the same device with open th brake shoes.
According to FIGS. 1 and 2, a hand lever 3 mounted pivotably about an axis of rotation 5 is arranged in a releasably connected to a handlebar 1 in a known manner NEN bearing block 2, which is used to actuate a brake jaw, not shown, on the rim Pull rope 4 is used. A cross pin 6 firmly connected to the pull rope 4 forms a conventional articulated connection between the pull rope 4 guided in a casing 7 and in a guide part 8 of the bearing block and the hand lever 3 provided with recesses 9 and 10.
The braking device shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 also has a pawl 12 which is inserted into the guide part 8 of the bearing block 2 and is pivotable about a transverse axis 11 and is provided with a recess 13 for the passage of the pull cable. The pawl 12, which in its gezeich designated position in Fig. 1 as a stop to limit the movement of the lever 3 in the sense of opening. the brake is used to bake, has a nose 14 for actuation with the finger.
A material made of rubber-elastic Ma, the whole bearing block 2 umge Bende and the pawl 12 overlapping protective cover 15 serves as a resilient organ that seeks to move the pawl 12 in the shown in Fig. 1, effective position and in this position hold. Of course, another resilient organ such. B. a metal spring can be used.
Not shown are the brake jaws connected to the cable 4 or the sheath 7 with the associated return element, the usual organs for adjusting the brake shoe, and the rim and tire of the vehicle, all of which are designed and arranged in a known manner .
If the pawl 12 is in its effective position according to FIG. 1, in which it forms a stop, the movement of the hand lever 3 in the sense of opening the brake shoes is limited in such a way that the brake shoes can only move relatively little away from the wheel rim. when you let go of lever 3.
In the brake shoe actuation, the described device therefore has no difference compared to known braking devices.
However, if the pawl 12 is disengaged from the effective position shown in FIG. 1 into the inoperative position shown in FIG. 2, the hand lever can be pivoted further through a considerable angle, whereby the pull rope 4 in relation to the sheath 7 Moved to the right in Fig. 2 while the brake shoe opening is increased by a certain amount, so that the air tire is safely let through. This larger opening also makes cleaning and replacement of the brake shoes easier.
To return the pawl 12 to the effective position, it is sufficient to pull the brake shoes by means of the lever 3, the pawl 12 automatically assuming the effective position under the action of the rubber-elastic protective cover 15, whereby the brake shoe opening is reduced and the original brake clearance is reduced is restored if you release lever 3 afterwards.
The arrangement of the adjustable for further opening of the brake shoes member 12 on the bearing block of the actuating lever proves to be particularly advantageous in that in this way an easy actuation and control option is offered within easy reach. Further advantages of the arrangement described are: insensitivity to weathering influences and pollution, simple and inexpensive structure, clear and logical handling. As a particular advantage, the described embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2 guarantees the undiminished braking effect, even when the pivotable pawl 12 is in its inoperative position, the pawl then automatically returning to the operative position.
