Ces deux corps 1 et 2 sont assemblés l'un à l'autre par collage grâce à un méplat 5, respective- ment 6, que présente chacun d'eux. Ces deux mé plats sont appliqués l'un contre l'autre, les deux corps étant parallèles et décalés longitudinalement ;
Method for manufacturing a sapphire needle for a talking machine and needle obtained by implementing this method The present patent relates to a method for manufacturing a needle for a talking machine intended for playing both disks. at 78 rpm than LP records.
This process is characterized by the fact that two distinct needle bodies are produced having the required dimensions, one for playing 78-rpm discs and the other for playing microsilon discs, then the, fixed to each other in a position in which they are parallel but offset longitudinally, the needle body of the discs, with micro-grooves, exceeding that of the 78-rpm discs.
The patent also relates to a needle obtained by implementing the above method. The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the needle which is the subject of the patent.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view, the needle playing a 78 rpm record shown in section.
Fig. 2 is a section through the needle alone, along line II-II of FIG. 1, and FIG. 3 is a cross section of the needle along the line 111-11I of FIG. 1.
The needle shown, in sapphire, comprises two bodies 1 and 2 dimensioned the pren-ier for the set of 78 rpm discs, such as the disc 3 of FIG. 1, and the second for the set of microgroove discs, such as the disc 4 of FIG. 1 shown in phantom.
These two bodies 1 and 2 are assembled to each other by gluing thanks to a flat 5, respectively 6, which each of them presents. These two flat flats are applied one against the other, the two bodies being parallel and offset longitudinally;
the end of the body 2 slightly protrudes that of the body 1 in such a way that it does not come into contact with the walls of the groove of a 78 rpm disc with which the body 1 cooperates, whereas conversely this the latter does not touch the LP record when the latter is played by the body 2 of the needle.
The method, in the exemplary implementation described, and which consists in making the two bodies separately, in providing on each of them a longitudinal longitudinal flat and then in gluing them to one another in the position. The relative tion described above is both simple and inexpensive. In addition, thanks to said flats., The two points of the needle are very close together, which avoids the risk of one of them coming into contact with the sides of the groove of the disc with which it does not have to. cooperate, especially near the center of the disc, where the radius of curvature of the sil lon is smallest.
As a variant, one can provide for the case where the flat edge of one of the two needle bodies, preferably that of smaller diameter, will be eliminated, and the flat edge of the other body replaced by a longitudinal groove, of straight section in an arc of a circle with a radius corresponding to that of the other body. The latter will be partially engaged in this notch in which it will be glued.
Finally, it is possible to provide for the case where the two needle bodies will be glued to one another without presenting for this notch or flat effect, or will be assembled other than by gluing, for example by crimping or the like. .
