Description
Packing process
The present invention relates to a packaging process in which a flexible, heat-sealable plastic material envelope is formed, provided with a passage communicating its interior with the exterior and formed between two superimposed parts of the wall, characterized in that that said casing provided with its contents is placed in an enclosure in which a vacuum is made, so that the gases and vapors contained in the casing escape therefrom passing through said passage, then in that the vacuum in the enclosure is removed so that atmospheric pressure applies the wall parts between which the passage is formed, one against the other, thus ensuring the closure of the packaging.
Another subject of the invention is the packaging obtained by implementing this method.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the packaging according to the invention and also illustrates, by way of example, an implementation of the method.
Fig. 1 is a flat view of this embodiment of the packaging.
Figs. 2, 3 and 4 are similar views of an alternative embodiment in three successive stages of the process.
Fig. 1 shows the envelope formed by a section of tube of flexible heat-sealable plastic material such as nylon or that known under the name of Rilsan (registered trademark). The envelope is closed at one of its ends, by two parallel lines of welds 2 and 2 ', spaced about 2 mm from each other, these two welds each starting from one of the opposite sides of the casing to stop about 1.5 mm from the other side, leaving 3 and 3 'unsealed spaces.
The product to be packaged is introduced into the casing through the end which has remained free of the latter, which is closed by a continuous weld line 4 extending from one edge to the other of the casing.
The envelope thus filled and closed is placed in an enclosure in which a vacuum is created, this may be, for example, a vacuum bell or an autoclave.
By emptying the enclosure, the air and the other vapors contained in the enclosure are evacuated through the free passage formed by the space 3, the space between the two welds, and the space 3 '. When the vacuum is released in the enclosure, the atmospheric pressure applies the walls of the envelope one against the other, and this all the more strongly as the depression prevailing inside the envelope is greater. high, and the envelope is thus closed in a sealed manner without any re-entry of air.
In the example represented by FIGS. 2 to 4, the envelope is closed as follows:
Before bringing the heating electrodes, commonly used to weld heat-sealable plastic materials, into the casing placed flat on the welding machine, a strip or rod 5 of any material deemed suitable, the width or diameter of which corresponds to the non-welded space that must remain at one end of the weld line. After bringing the strip or rod against the corresponding side of the casing, the first transverse weld line 3 is made (fig. 2).
This first line being completed, we remove the strip or spacer rod 5 which will leave an unglued space 3 (fig. 3).
The envelope is then moved slightly on the machine and a second weld line 2 'is carried out, for example 2 min from the first and parallel to it, over the entire width of the envelope, without leaving any remaining no unwelded space.
Finally, in at least one of the walls of the casing is drilled a hole 6 (FIG. 3) of small diameter, of 1.5 mu for example, between the two weld lines 2 and 2 '. This hole, which will allow the air and gases contained in the casing to be evacuated, can just as easily be drilled before the welding operations, the welding lines then being made on either side of the hole. n can still be drilled after the execution of the first weld line.
Thus constituted, the envelope can receive the article to be packaged, after which it is closed at the second end by a continuous weld line 4 extending from one edge of the envelope to the other.
The two weld lines and the hole can also be advantageously produced in a single operation using a double clamp electrode comprising a punch arranged to pierce the hole.
The packaging obtained can contain all kinds of solid, liquid or pasty materials or objects which must be vacuum-packed, whether they are food products such as coffee or, for example, mechanical parts made of metal, etc. .
