Description

Insulating shell for pipelines The present invention provides a removable insulating shell for insulating pipelines.

It is known to bring a shell after wrapping a pipe with soft insulating material, which consists of a felt soaked with hardened binding agent. It is also known to enclose soft insulating material in tubular form with a hard jacket, which is produced by applying plaster of paris or similar materials, and to protect it from mechanical damage. The assembly of soft insulation with a shell as well as the production of a hard jacket on site is cumbersome and associated with great costs.

The present invention avoids the disadvantages hitherto existing in that two hard shells which are lined with soft insulating material and firmly connected to the same and which each comprise half of the pipe are joined together.

In an expedient manner, the insulating shell is provided with Abstützun conditions to relieve the soft insulating material, which support the hard shell halves.

The drawing shows an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, namely: Fig. 1 shows a cross section through a pipe with the insulating shell, Fig. 2 is a schematic view of a pipe with composite insulating shells.

In Fig. 1, a hot water pipe is denoted by 1 net. Two hard shells 2 and 3, which each encompass half of the pipeline, are joined together at folds 4 and 5. The hard shell 3 is lined with glued-in soft insulating compound 6, the hard shell 2 with soft insulating compound 7. A band 8 holds the two halves of the insulating shell together. The entire insulating shell consists of the two hard shells 2 and 3 with the soft insulating compounds 6 and 7.

So that the weight of the insulating shells does not compress the soft insulating material too much and thereby forms cavities under the pipe 1, supports 9 and 10 are provided, which keep the hard shell halves relative to the pipe 1 concentric.

The insulating shells are joined together in the longitudinal direction in the same way as the two hard shell halves 2 and 3 of an individual insulating shell section. Here, pipe bends 11 can also be preformed and alternately mounted along a line with straight insulating shell pieces 12 and 13.

The hard shells are pressed molded pieces made of shredded wood, cement, cork, glass wool, rock wool or dried vegetable products, prepared in a certain mixing ratio with chemical binders to form a paste and shaped in a press under high pressure. For insulation inside buildings, the hard shell is sufficient to protect the soft insulation against mechanical damage. A coat of paint is only necessary for aesthetic purposes. Insulation laid outdoors can also withstand the effects of the weather, provided the hard shell is made of material that is water-repellent and temperature-resistant.

The insulation according to the present invention has the advantage of rapid and precisely centric installation of insulation. When repairs or dismantling of a line, the insulation can be removed quicker and more cleanly than with wrapped lines.
