Le but de cette invention est de créer une boîte de ce type, qui soit agencée de façon qu'on puisse y fixer un bracelet de type usuel, dont les extrémités destinées à être attachées à la boîte sont constituées par des boucles cousues. Pour cela, la boîte selon l'invention présente une carrure extérieure ajustée sur une carrure intérieure ; une gorge annulaire est pratiquée dans la paroi interne de la carrure extérieure, et deux fraisages diamétralement opposés sont pratiqués dans la face externe de cette carrure extérieure, à une profondeur suffisante pour enlever le fond de ladite gorge sur une distance correspondant à la largeur du lien. du bracelet destiné à être fixé à cette boite ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Wristwatch case The object of the present invention is a wristwatch case in which the strap fixing handles are formed by wires which do not extend beyond the visible outer edge of the case.
The aim of this invention is to create a box of this type, which is arranged in such a way that a bracelet of the usual type can be attached thereto, the ends of which intended to be attached to the box are formed by sewn loops. For this, the case according to the invention has an outer caseband adjusted to an inner caseband; an annular groove is made in the inner wall of the outer caseband, and two diametrically opposed millings are made in the outer face of this outer caseband, to a depth sufficient to remove the bottom of said groove over a distance corresponding to the width of the link . bracelet intended to be attached to this box;
finally, a ring is housed in said groove so that the parts of this ring which extend through said countersinks, constitute said handles.
An embodiment of the box according to the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, in. which fig. 1 is a partial section; fig. 2 is a plan view, partially cut away and on a reduced scale, and FIGS. 3 to 6 are perspective views of certain elements of the box of FIG. 2, separated from each other.
The box shown in the drawing comprises an internal caseband 1 intended to carry the movement 2 with the dial. 3, as well as the glass 4 of a watch, this case 1 being closed by a back 5 engaged by a threaded rim in the threaded lower part of the case 1.
The seal between the middle 1 and the back 5 is sealed by a gasket 6 interposed between an outer rim 7 of the back 5 and the underside of the middle 1. As can be seen in particular in FIGS. 2 and 3, the middle part 1 carries a tube 8 in order to provide passage for the winding and time-setting stem (not shown) of the movement 2, at the end of which is fixed a usual crown 9. Bans sa upper part, the middle part 1 finally has a flange 10, the upper face of which, visible, constitutes the bezel of the case, and the lower face 11 of which is flat and serves as an axial stop for an outer middle part 12.
As seen in fig. 5, the outer caseband 12 is formed by a ring obtained first of all by turning, so as to have a housing 13 in. its upper face and an annular groove 14 in its internal face, then by milling, so as to present, on the one hand, two diametrically opposed recesses 15 and, on the other hand, a housing 16 to 90 ° of the recesses 15. The housing 13 receives the lower part of the flange 10 of the inner case 1, when the outer case 12 is placed around the case 1, as seen in FIG. 1.
The groove 14 forms an annular housing between the two middle parts 1 and 12 in which is mounted a ring 17 consisting of a wire shown in particular in FIG. 4. As can be seen from Figs. 2, 4 and 5, this wire 17 is not trapped in the groove 14 at each point of its periphery; its parts which pass through the clearances 15 are free. When the outer middle part 12 is mounted on the inner middle part and occupies the
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
position shown in fig. 1, part 16a of housing 16 (fig. 5) is in contact with the outer wall of tube 8.
This amounts to saying that the outer middle part 12 cannot be placed on the middle part 1, as can be seen in FIG. 1, that if it occupies, relative to this middle part 1, a well-determined angular position, in which the free parts of the ring 17 are located precisely at the places where the ends of the link of a bracelet must be attached to the case . We see in fig. 2 than the width of the milling forming the clearances. 15 of the outer caseband 12 corresponds to the width of the link 18 of the bracelet attached to the case.
Figs. 1 and 4 show that the ends of the link 18 of the bracelet are folded back on themselves so as to form loops 19 through which the ring 17 passes.
When a bracelet is attached to the box described, the ring 17 keeps the ends of this bracelet in contact with the inner caseband 1 of the case (as seen on the left in fig. 2) so as not to leave , between these ends of the bracelet and the box, the opening usually left at this location in the boxes whose bracelet fixing handles consist of a pair of horns and a straight bar.
The outer caseband 12 is retained axially in the position shown in fia. 1 by the rim 7 of the bottom 5 which causes the trim 6 to rest on an inner projection 20 of the outer caseband 12. The housing 16 of the latter finally has a part 16b serving as a housing for the crown 9 for winding and setting. time.
To attach a bracelet to the box described, it is necessary to remove the elements as seen in fig. 3 to 6, that is to say remove the back 5, separate the outer case 12 from the inner case 1 and release the ring 17. As this ring is open, we can then engage without further the two buckles 19 of the link 18 of the bracelet around this ring, as seen in FIG. 4, even if the ends of the link 18 are already sewn, as is the case in the usual bracelets.
The ring 17 is then replaced with the link 18 in the groove 14 of the outer middle part 12 by slightly closing the ring 17, sufficiently elastic to allow this operation. The assembly thus obtained is placed on the middle part 1 so that the part 16a of the housing 16 comes into contact with the tube 8. The axial displacement of the middle part 12 with respect to the middle part 1 is possible because this housing 16 has axial walls 16c sufficiently spaced from each other to allow tube 8 to pass freely between them.
Finally, the back 5 is screwed in place so as to press the back of the housing 13 of the middle part 12 against the face 11 of the flange 10 of the middle part 1.
When the case is assembled in the manner described with a bracelet, the parts of the ring 17 which retain the loops 19 of the link 18 are sufficiently stable to hold the bracelet firmly in place. This does not run the risk of accidentally separating from the case, for example following a rotation of the ring 17 which would bring the open part of this ring into one of the recesses 15 of the middle part 12. Such a rotation of the ring 17 is in fact made impossible by the tube 8 which is located between the ends of said ring.
To avoid excessive stress on the part of the link of the bracelet which forms the loops 19 of the latter, in particular in the case where the ends of said link are straight and, therefore, intended to be mounted on boxes with handles composed of horns and rectilinear bars, the groove 14 is made deep enough so that there remains, between the thread of the ring 17 and the outer wall of the inner middle part 1, a space clearly greater than the thickness of the link 18.
In this way, the middle part of this link can remain in contact with the outer wall of the inner case 1, as seen in FIG. 1. This arrangement is particularly advantageous when the link of the bracelet is made of an inflexible material.
To change the bracelet, proceed as described above with regard to the installation of a bracelet, the old bracelet being removed when the ring 17 is released from the groove 14 of the outer caseband. 12. To operate this release, it suffices to push towards the inside of this middle part 12 the parts of the ring 17 which extend through the recesses 15.
As seen in fig. 2, the outer middle part 12 extends beyond the rim 10 of the inner middle part 1 and the clearances 15 of this outer middle part, made from the upper face of this middle part, constitute. notches visible on the periphery of the box. Although these notches lighten the case by giving it a narrower appearance, they could be eliminated by making, for example, the clearances 15 by milling the caseband 12 from the underside thereof, said notches then appearing. on the back side of the box.
Finally, it would suffice to make clearances having the width of the strap link, in the external face of the caseband 12 by milling slots at mid-height of this caseband, provided that these slots are deep enough to remove the bottom of the groove 14 over a width corresponding to that of the link of the bracelet and thus free a sufficient part of the ring 17 to allow the passage, around this ring, of the loops 19 of the link 18.
Finally, the clearances 15 of the outer middle part shown in the drawing could obviously also be masked by a fairly wide outer rim of the inner middle part 1, this rim extending to the periphery of the outer middle part 12.
