Cabinet comprising a base in several parts movable relative to each other The present invention relates to a cabinet comprising a base in several parts movable relative to each other, the head part being tiltable about a transverse axis located between the ends of this part.
The piece of furniture according to the invention is characterized by a semi-cylindrical drum integral with said head portion and closed at one end by a bottom through which passes a pivot coinciding with said transverse axis, radial openings being formed in angular positions. different with respect to a diametral axis of the drum, over part of the periphery of the cylindrical wall,
a locking member provided with a projection intended to cooperate with said openings under the action of a spring to lock the semi-cylindrical drum in a determined angular position, and an actuating lever of the locking member .
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the piece of furniture which is the subject of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a partial side elevational view of this embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view taken along line 2-2 of FIG. 1.
The piece of furniture shown comprises a fixed frame 1 and a bed base in several parts movable relative to one another and of which only the head part 2 is shown. The others, parts, for example the end part intended to receive the legs of the user and the intermediate part being articulated to one another in a known manner. This head part 2 can be tilted around two pivots 3 arranged along a transverse axis located between the ends of part 2.
For this purpose, a part in the form of a semi-cylindrical drum 4 is fixed by tabs 5 on the head part 2 on each side thereof, and has a bottom 6 through which passes the pivot 3 fixed by a frame to the fixed frame 1. Radial openings 7 are formed on a part of the periphery of the drum 4 in different angular positions with respect to a diametral axis of this drum.
A blocking member 8 of the drum 4 is formed by a square iron, the horizontal wing 8 'of which carries a projection 9 intended to cooperate with the openings 7. A traction spring 10 disposed between the pivot 3 and the wing 8 'maintains the projection 9 engaged in one of the openings 7 to lock the drum in a determined angular position. The vertical wing 8 "of the blocking member 8 is slidably mounted on the frame 1 of the cabinet between two plates 11 and 12.
A lever 13 for actuating the blocking member 8 is pivoted at 14 on the frame 1 and articulated to the latter by links 15 and 16. The active part of the lever 13 located between the pivot point 14 and the rod 15 is in contact with the upper end of the vertical wing 8 "in such a way that by lifting this lever in the position shown in phantom in fig. 1, the wing 8" is lowered and the projection 9 released from the opening 7 against the action of the spring 10.
The head part 2 can then be inclined up to the limit angular position also shown in phantom in FIG. 1. By releasing the lever 13 of the locking member 8 ,. the projection 9 re-engages in a selected opening 7 under the action of the spring 10 and the head part 2 is locked in the desired angular position.
