Device for closing containers. The object of the present invention is a device for closing containers, according to the invention the device comprises a yoke intended to be placed on the neck of a container and a rod which can move perpendicularly to the yoke in one or more central verture of the yoke, this rod controlling a locking mechanism placed in the yoke and comprising pivoting worms engaging in holes in the yoke, all in such a way that after the installation of the device on the neck of the container, the locks in the closed position, pass through said holes and bear on the neck of the container, thus immobilizing the yoke on said neck, while in the open position, the locks are released from the container neck,
which makes it possible to remove the closing device.
One embodiment of the device is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing. Fig. 1 is a vertical section of the positive device mounted on a container, the device being in the open position; Fig. 2 is a view from below, and FIG. 3 is a section similar to that of FIG. 1, the device being represented in the closed position.
In the drawing, 8 designates the neck of a container. The closure device com carries a yoke 1, the cylindrical part of which 2 engages freely in said neck. In a central opening in the bottom of the yoke 1 can move vertically a threaded rod 3, provided on the outside with a knurled knob 4. The lower end of this rod 3 is provided with two washers between which three elbow bolts 6 engage. The folded outer ends of these bolts are engaged in rectangular holes 7 with which the periphery of part 2 of the yoke is drilled. These bolts 6 are subjected to the action of an extension spring 9 which causes the elbows 10 of the bolts to bear on the inner wall of part 2.
A leather washer 12 serves to ensure a tight seal between the yoke and the neck of the container outside the closure of the device. A sheet metal cone 11 fixed to the lower edge of part 2 serves to prevent the projection of the liquid contained in the receptacle.
The operation of the device described is as follows - The device is placed on the neck of the container, the rod 3 being screwed by its button 4 upwards in the position shown in FIG. 1. In this position of the rod, the folded outer ends of the bolts engage in the holes 7 without protruding on the periphery of the part 2. When the device is thus in place, the button 4 is screwed which causes it to enter its position. race the locks. The latter tilt on their elbows, their folded ends pass through the holes 7 and engage under the neck of the container.
The pressure that the rod 3 exerts on the locks forces the yoke 1 to bear on the neck of the container and thus ensures, thanks to the -roundelle leather, the seal between the yoke and the container.
To open the container, the button is unscrewed, which causes the locks to tilt; the folded ends of the latter are released from the neck 8. The device is thus open and can be removed without effort.
The device described and shown externally has the appearance of an ordinary threaded plug, while eliminating any screw thread in the neck of the container and in the cylindrical part of the yoke. The absence of a net in these parts prevents damage when filling the container by means of flexible pipes with metal ends. Loosening of the device by trepidations is therefore impossible. This is especially advantageous if the container provided with the device described is mounted on a vehicle.
The device consists of parts that are practically undeformable by use and not sensitive to the tremors that the device may receive. The handling of the device is very simple and has the advantage of hermetically closing the container without it being necessary to exert a great effort on the button of the central screw.
