Assembly consisting of part of a rotating member,
a pivot and an anti-shock ball bearing
The present invention relates to an assembly formed by a part of a rotary member, a pivot and an anti-shock ball bearing. The anti-shock bearing is preferably a ruby ball bearing such as a bearing for the balance of a watch.
It is desirable to relieve the bearing surfaces in such bearings as well as the delicate parts of the shaft from excessive axial and side impact while maintaining the shaft in the required transverse position during normal operation.
The bearing according to the invention is characterized in that the pivot is integral with the rotary member, its axis coinciding with the axis of rotation of the latter, in that it is maintained in the normal operating position, without play. appreciable, by a bearing surface of an element which is movable relative to a support, the extreme position of the penetration of the element into the support, in the direction of the rotary member, being limited by an annular planar stopper arranged per pendularly t to the axis of the bearing and presented by the support, and by a corresponding bearing surface of the element, the latter being maintained in the normal operating position by spring means acting in the direction of the rotary member, the position of the element being ensured, in the direction transverse to the axis, by an internal wall of the support,
in the form of a surface of revolution, connected by a sharp angle to the stop, the element and the wall being dimensioned and shaped so that, in a central position, the element does not touch the wall and that it can move away from the stopper, under the effect of an axial shock or tilting on it, at a limited angle and around at least one point located near the lower edge of the wall, under the effect of a radial impact , the pivot, or a part of the rotary member, having a bearing intended to limit the movement of the pivot during an axial impact tending to cause the pivot to penetrate into the bearing and a bearing also intended to limit the movement of the pivot during radial shock.
The single figure of the drawing represents in section and by way of example an embodiment of the assembly forming the subject of the present invention.
The assembly shown in FIG. 1 comprises a part of a rotary member constituted by a rotor shaft 1 of a gyroscopic instrument, a pivot 2 and an anti-shock ball bearing ensuring the maintenance of the shaft 1.
The pivot 2 is integral with the shaft 1, its axis coinciding with the axis of rotation of the latter, and it is maintained in the normal operating position without appreciable play, by a bearing surface of an element 4 via of balls 3. This outer element 4 is movable relative to a support 5 screwed into a plate 10 and the extreme position of the penetration of the element 4 into the support 5, in the direction of the shaft 1, is limited by a annular flat abutment 9 arranged perpendicular to the axis of the bearing and presented by the support 5 as well as by a corresponding bearing surface of the element 4. Leaf springs 6 acting in the direction of the shaft 1 maintain the normal operating position element 4.
The position of the element 4 is ensured in the direction transverse to the axis, by an internal wall 8 of the support 5, in the form of a surface of revolution connected by a sharp angle to the stop 9, the element 4 and the wall 8 being dimensioned and shaped so that, in the central position, the element 4 does not touch the wall 8, a clearance of about 0.1 mm being maintained by a peripheral lip 7 which the element 4 has.
The element 4 can move away from the stop 9, under the effect of an axial shock or tilt on the latter, at a limited angle and around at least one point located near the lower edge of the wall 8, under the effect of a radial shock, the pivot 2 OR a part of the shaft 1, has a bearing surface 11 intended to limit the movement of the pivot 2 during an axial shock tending to make the pivot 2 penetrate into the bearing and a bearing surface 12 also intended to limit the movement of the pivot 2 during a radial impact.
After the impact, the springs 6 return the element 4 to its seat, so that the shaft 1 is returned to a precise position.
The distance between the mating surfaces of the axial and side stops: can be very small; it can represent, for example, a few hundredths of a millimeter, so that the displacement of the shaft from its normal working position relative to the support plate is also very small.
If the shock occurs from left to right in fig. 1, the element 4 swings around the right part of the lip 7 and, as the left part of the lip lifts up, it can slide a short distance on the surface of the holder 5. However, the force producing the shock is done in a direction tending to move the two sliding surfaces apart so that they are not loaded and the friction between them is very low.
