Un anneau 36, des tiné à limiter le ballon formé par un fil, entoure l'ailette 32 à l'extrémité supérieure de celle-ci; il est fixé sur l'ailette, en trois points circonférentiels et disposé symétriquement, au moyen de barres cour tes 34, dont une seule est représentée sur la fig. 2 ;
Le dispositif 90 est fixé en place par des vis 98 dont une seule est visible sur la fig. 4 ; ces vis passent à travers. des trous ménagés dans la partie supérieure 82 du carter et se vissent dans la collerette 94. Dans l'espace annulaire 100 compris entre les collerettes 94, 96 sont placées plusieurs paires de patins de tension 102 ;
Machine for wiring wires and twisting at least one of these wires The present invention relates to a machine for wiring wires and twisting at least one of these wires, in particular intended to produce industrial cables.
Industrial cables used in the manufacture of automobile tires, power transmission belts, and also in other applications, are preferably made from at least two continuous nylon threads of about 840 denier. To manufacture these yarns, a pulling and twisting operation is carried out after spinning, during which the yarn is collected in coils weighing between 1.35 kg and 1.6 kg, which are wound with a double taper on a cylindrical bobbin having approximately a length of 32 cm and a diameter of 6.4 cm, the maximum diameter of the coil being about 12.7 cm.
Coils of this kind have hitherto been little demanded, because they cannot be handled economically with the equipment currently available for the production of industrial cables. The majority of cable producers therefore prefer to have the wire delivered to them in coils, which necessitates a warping operation. Such a warping operation, or any other rewinding operation, carried out from the bobbin of the thread manufacturer in order to obtain windings susceptible, by their shape and their dimensions,
to be handled economically by means of current cable production equipment, significantly increases the cost of manufacturing cables.
The main object of the invention is to provide a machine capable of producing industrial cables directly from the supply coils supplied by the yarn manufacturer.
Another aim is to produce such a machine capable of forming these cables directly from bobbins of thread supplied by industry, with a higher production rate than those obtained hitherto by known machines.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the machine according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a partial side elevational view of this embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a vertical section, on a larger scale, of a detail shown in FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a plan view, on a larger scale, of another detail shown in FIG. 1.
Fig. 4 is a section taken along line IV-IV of FIG. 3.
Fig. 5 is a section taken along the line V-V of FIG. 4.
Fig. 6 is a sectional view of an organ that this embodiment takes.
Fig. 7 is a section taken along line VII-VII of FIG. 6.
The machine shown comprises a spindle 10 shown in elevation in FIG. 1 and in vertical section in FIG. 2. The lower part of the spindle 10 includes a shaft 12 rotatable in ball bearings 14 and 16 disposed in a flanged support cylinder 18. This support cylinder 18 is fixed on a bar 20, constituting a part of the machine, which comprises multiple pins, by means of screws 22.
A chain toothed wheel 24, fixed to the lower end of the shaft 12, cooperates with a drive chain 26 (fig. 1), which can be driven by any source of energy not shown, for example by an electric motor.
On the shaft 12 of the spindle is rigidly fixed, near the support cylinder 18, a conical hub 28 comprising a flared and conical flange 30, on which is fixed a fin 32 in the form of a deep cup; the generators of this fin have a general sinusoidal shape.
A ring 36, designed to limit the balloon formed by a wire, surrounds the fin 32 at the upper end thereof; it is fixed to the fin, at three circumferential points and arranged symmetrically, by means of short bars 34, only one of which is shown in FIG. 2;
this ring 36 has a diameter slightly larger than that of the fin at the location of its fixing points. The conical hub 28 has a circumferential groove 38, which constitutes a winding yarn storage surface, serving to control the tension of the yarn forming the balloon.
An axial channel 40, extending upwards from the lower end of the shaft 12 and communicating with an oblique channel 42, which cooperates with an added and grooved part 44 carried by the hub 28, forms an orifice of output 45 of the wire on the storage surface 38.
The entire part of the shaft 12 extending above the conical hub 28 comprises several lengths the diameters of which gradually decrease; a winding support 46 is rotatably mounted on this part of the shaft 12. A part 48 of the shaft 12, threaded at its upper end, receives the inner raceway of a ball bearing 50.
A nut 52 screwed onto the upper end of part 48 holds the inner raceway of bearing 50 and presses it against the upper shoulder of a larger shaft portion 54 adjacent to part 48. L The upper end of the shaft 12 likewise carries a ball bearing 56, the inner race of which is held between a clamping nut 58 and a shoulder of the adjacent shaft portion 60.
The winding support 46 comprises a tubular member 62 having, near its lower end, an annular collar 64 extending inwardly; this support also comprises at its lower end a threaded part into which a ring 66 is screwed.
An annular washer 68 made of plastic, for example rubber or chloroprene, is placed on each side of the outer raceway of the bearing 50, and the annular space between this raceway and the tubular member 62 is filled. by several rings 69, for example rubber or chloroprene, of circular section.
Thus, by screwing the ring 66 upwards, the outer raceway of the bearing 50 is elastically maintained between this ring and the collar 64; the tubular member 62 is thus oriented symmetrically at its lower end with respect to the axis of the shaft 12 of the spindle.
An elastic mounting and orientation device is also used for the upper end of the tubular member 62; it is in the form of an annular insert 70 fitted to the press in the member 6: 2 and comprising an elastic inner ring 72, for example of rubber or chloroprene, which is applied by friction against the path outside. ball bearing 56.
The winding support 46 has a diameter enabling it to receive by a sliding adjustment a winding 74 of thread, for example of nylon, wound with a double taper and a sinusoidal shape on a long cylindrical bobbin 76. The bobbin is held by friction by friction. 76 on the support 46 by means of a trigger 78 pushed by a spring and mounted on the internal wall of the tubular member 62; this detent extends through the member 62 to apply against the interior surface of the can.
A housing having a generally sinusoidal shape and conforming to the contour of the complete winding 74 consists of a lower part 80 and a removable upper part 82. The lower part 80 is preferably metallic and is rigidly fixed to the ring 66. , while the upper part 82 is preferably made of a plastic and transparent material,
which can be molded easily but still has great strength and rigidity. The upper part 82 of the casing has an outer diameter slightly larger than that of the lower part 80 at the location of its connection with this lower part; it is provided with an annular lip 84 surrounding the lower part. Locks 86 hold the cover portion 82 in place.
Thus, it can be seen that the winding support 46 and the winding housing can rotate freely together with respect to the shaft 12 of the spindle.
To prevent the winding support 46 from rotating during the. rotation of the shaft 12, the latter is mounted on the bar 20 so that it preferably makes an angle of 200 with the vertical, as can be seen clearly in FIG. 1, a metal mass 88 (FIG. 2) being fixed to one side of the lower part 80 of the housing.
The mass 88 is sufficient to prevent the rotation of the winding support 46 and the housing 80, but any deviation of the friction of the bearing, from its normal value, between the spindle shaft and the support, can cause the bearing to oscillate. housing and support relative to the spindle axis. These oscillations are eliminated by means of a damping device 87 arranged on the side of the casing 80, in a position diametrically opposed to that of the mass 88 (FIG. 2).
The device 87, as can be seen clearly in FIGS. 6 and 7, comprises a rounded tube 89, of generally oval section, the curvature of which conforms to that of the casing 80, on which it is fixed in circumferential alignment by means of screws 91 passing through flanges 93 fixed to the ends of the tube . A partition 95, in which there is a notch 97, is disposed midway between the ends of the tube 89; it extends transversely to the tube, from the bottom thereof, to a height slightly above the center of the section of the tube.
A certain amount of a dense liquid, such as mercury, occupies about one half of the volume of the tube, and cooperates with the partition 95 to achieve the damping action.
It is seen that, when the housing 80 is at rest, substantially equal amounts of mercury are vented on the opposite faces of the partition 95. If the housing begins to oscillate, the mercury is displaced alternately and in part at least by one. side of the partition to the other side, creating a certain tur bulence so as to dissipate the energy supplying the oscillations; the mercury thus allows the mass 88 to stabilize the position of the casing and of its winding support.
The upper end of part 82 of the casing carries a two-wire cabling device ensuring tension and equalizing the advance of these wires, a device generally designated by 90 in FIGS. 1 and 2 and shown in more detail in FIGS. 3, 4 and 5. This device 90 comprises a cylindrical base 92 comprising, near its lower end, two annular and spaced flanges 94, 96 extending laterally.
The device 90 is fixed in place by screws 98, only one of which is visible in FIG. 4; these screws go through. holes formed in the upper part 82 of the casing and are screwed into the flange 94. In the annular space 100 between the flanges 94, 96 are placed several pairs of tension pads 102;
each pad, of generally rectangular shape, has a short guide portion 104, the cross section of which is reduced and which extends from one end of the pad in a direction perpendicular to the plane thereof. The guide portions 104 extend into aligned holes 106 extending through the flanges 94, 96. The internal ends of each pair of shoes 102 are held in operating alignment by means of a pin 108 secured in the flanges 94, 96. and passing freely through holes in the shoes.
A hole 110 passing through the collar 96 and aligned with the central part of each upper tension pad 102, maintains a helical compression spring 112, with a cap, which rests at its lower end against its tension pad and whose the other end, provided with the cap, is in contact with the underside of a rotating annular plate 114 provided with an annular flange 116 directed downwards; the inner surface of this collar is screwed onto the periphery of the collar 96.
Thus, by rotating the plate 114 in the appropriate direction to bring it closer to the collar 96, a greater tension is applied only simultaneously to all the springs 112; by rotating the plate 114 in the opposite direction, on the contrary, the tension of all these springs is simultaneously reduced. An elastic arm trigger 118 is attached at one end to collar 96; its free end is applied against the toothed inner circumference 120 of the plate 114 and maintains the latter in its adjustment position preventing it from accidentally moving.
A marking arm 122 fixed to the outer side wall of the cylindrical base 92 cooperates with a graduation placed on the upper face of the tension adjustment plate 114.
A wire guide 124 flaring at both ends is mounted in the upper part of the housing 82 and is aligned with the axis of the spindle. Another device for guiding the wire consists of pins 126 crossing the annular space 100 between the flanges 94, 96; the respective ends of these pins are fixed in these flanges and lie approximately on the median circumference of the flanges., as seen in fig. 5. It can be seen in this figure that these axes 126 are arranged in the spaces between the pairs of successive pads 102.
A cylindrical wire guide 128, for example of ceramic or other hard wear resistant material, is mounted near the last pair of pads 102 on the flange 96 by means of a screw 130 therethrough. .
A guide member 132 of cylindrical shape is arranged in the lower part of the bore of the cylindrical base 92; this member 132 comprises a cavity 134 of irregular shape communicating with an axial orifice 136 for guiding the wire, which is located at the upper end of the cavity. A fixing screw 138 passing through the side wall of the base 92 is applied against the guide member 132 to hold it in place.
A guide roller 140 is mounted inside the cavity 134, at right angles to the vertical axis of the member 132; this roller 140 can turn freely on a shaft 142, the ends of which are supported in the opposite walls of the cavity. As seen in fig. 5, the axis of the roller 140 is perpendicular to a line tangent to the outer part of the cylindrical guide 128 and passing through the central orifice 136. The roller 140 is also arranged so that its outer surface is tangent to the axis of orifice 136.
The bottom wall 144 defining the cavity 134 is in the form of a thin member in the form of a paddle, which serves as a yarn separator as will be explained later.
The upper end of the bore passing through the cylindrical base 92 carries a ball bearing 146 in which a tubular shaft 148, short and vertical, pivots. On this shaft is fixed a rotor 150 of a generally frustoconical shape. Two short shafts 152, 154 are mounted on the inclined face of the rotor 150, perpendicular to this face and in diametrically opposed positions.
Capstans 156, 158 are journaled respectively on the outer ends of the shafts 152, 154 by means of ball bearings 160, 162. Bevel pinions 164, 166, preferably in one piece with the capstans 156, 158, mesh with a bevel-toothed idler 168, which can rotate on a ball bearing 170 at the upper end of the tubular shaft 148.
This end carries a wire guide 172 in the form of an ombrelle, which is crossed by an axial orifice 174 aligned with the channel of the tubular shaft 148.
The rotor 150 is provided with an arm 176, the outer end of which ends with a pigtail yarn guide 178. This guide 178 is mounted relative to the capstan 156 so as to be on the path of the balloon; it drives the rotor 150, by means of the wire passing through it, in synchronism with the wire constituting the balloon.
We will now explain how we put the wire in place in the spindle and how the latter works to produce a two-wire cable. After having removed from the lower part 80 of the casing the upper part 82 of the latter, a complete winding 74 is placed in the operating position on the support 46. A Y wire is drawn from the winding 74 and is passed through it. using a threading snake, through the thread guide 124, the cavity 134, the guide hole 136 and the hole 174.
The upper part 82 of the housing is then replaced on part 80 and the bolts 86 are fixed. The space 100 is passed radially and inwardly between the guide plate 144 in the form of a pallet and the guide- yarn 124, a hook, for example a comb hook used for weaving, for grasping yarn Y and pulling it to form a loop. During this pulling operation, the upper strand of the loop slides over the end of the plate 144, and the loop is then ready in this position for threading between the tension pads 102.
This threading is carried out by advancing in a clockwise direction (looking at fig. 5) so as to successively place the thread between the pads and finally to take up the slack in the loop by pulling the thread through it. Exit port 174 of yarn guide 172. Subsequently advancing the yarn through guide 172, it is pulled inward between the pairs of shoes 102 until it reaches the limiting pins 126. .
From the cylindrical guide 128, the wire then passes over the plate 144 to arrive at the guide roller 140. Thus the plate 144 serves as a separator to prevent the entry and exit strands of the loop from tangling. with each other.
The Y wire coming from channel 174 is wound on at least one and a half turns around the capstan 158, then it is wound several turns on receiving rollers 186, 188, and finally it is passed over a take-off roll 190 The known drive mechanism for the take-up rollers 186, 188 and the take-off roll 190 has not been shown. It can be driven in synchronism with the shaft 12 of the spindle, either from a common energy source or by an independent energy source.
As seen in fig. 1, a yarn X is drawn from an external source of yarn, constituted by a bobbin 180 supplied by the yarn manufacturer; this wire is passed between a number of adjustable tension devices 182 with discs, then around a guide pulley 184, aligned with the axial channel 40 of the shaft 12 of the spindle. By means of a threading snake, this thread is pulled through the channels 40, 42 so as to cause it to exit through the orifice 45 on the storage surface 38 by winding.
From this surface, the wire is passed between the balloon limitation ring 36 and the fin 32, then through the pigtail guide 178; it is made to make at least one complete turn on the tan cap 156. This wire is then kept in contact with the wire Y while the spindle is turned on.
The rotating shaft 12 and its hub 28 rotate the wire X around the housing 80-82 so as to form a ball; as this wire passes through the wire guide 178 fixed on the rotor 150, the latter and its capstans 156, 158 are driven in rotation and force the X wire to be wired with the Y wire and to follow the latter until with the 190. draw roll
When the spindle turns, the X and Y wires are wired together at a point between the take-up roller 186 and the guide member 172. The wiring point of the two wires is on the axis of the spindle and we obtain a symmetrical cable due to the symmetry of the capstans 156, 158, provided that the tensions of the two wires above the capstans are kept substantially equal. Since the capstans 156, 158 have the same dimensions and are coupled in synchronism with each other through the idler gear 168, linear and equal paths of the wires are made.
However, the smoothness and straightness of the paths are affected by the strain on the wires before they reach their respective capstans.
The tension of the yarn Y is determined largely by the tension applied by means of the tension pads 102. The total tension supplied by these pads can be easily obtained by adjusting the adjustment plate 114, as explained above. The tension of the wire X is determined by the disc devices 182 cooperating with the tension provided by the storage surface 38 provided on the fin of the spindle; this fin acts as a tension regulator to appropriately control the shape and tension of the balloon, in a manner well known in the present art.
By using, for a given speed of the spindle and for given dimensions of the threads, the preceding tension adjustment device, it is possible to bring the tension values of the two threads sufficiently close to each other to allow the capstans 156 , 158 of the equalizer lead the wires to produce a balanced cable. The balloon limiting ring 36 forces the yarn X leaving the surface 38 to conform exactly to the side walls of the cup-shaped fin 32 and on the other hand prevents the yarn from deviating a distance. appreciable from the sides of the cover 82 while the yarn forms the ball around this cover key.
By fixing the ring 36 on the fin 32 at only three points equidistant along the circumference thereof, the circumferential displacement of the wire X is left sufficient freedom to effect the necessary change in the winding of the wire. wire on the surface 38 and to achieve the necessary control of the balloon tension.
It can therefore be seen that the machine described makes it possible to achieve a considerable saving in space, then that it is possible to mount side by side in this machine a greater number of pins than in the past for a given floor area. The higher spindle speed, made possible by a significant reduction in dimensions, makes it possible to increase the cable output rate by at least 300% per unit of floor area,
compared to the throughput obtained with older machines used in a multistage process.
In practice, it has been possible to achieve a spindle speed of 10,000 rpm with a cabling machine using coils weighing 1.6 kg and having only a diameter of 24 cm.
In the example described, the two wires are cabled with each other at the outlet of the assembly comprising the fin 32, the ring 36 and the groove 38. In another embodiment, the two wires can be wired before passing through said assembly. The machine then constitutes a twisting device, for example of the 2 to 1 type. In this case, the two wires first pass through the cabling device placed upstream of the assembly 32, 36, 38. The wires cords then pass through said assembly before being wound on the take-up roll.
