B. Keilwellen.
Method for cutting teeth according to the rolling principle and machine for carrying out this method The invention relates to a method for cutting teeth according to the rolling principle in gear wheels, splined shafts and other workpieces.
To carry out known processes of this type, a complicated mechanism was required in order to ensure that the wear and tear on the tool is evenly distributed over its entire length.
The present invention brings here a considerable relief. The method according to the inven tion is characterized in that during the cutting of the teeth workpiece and tool are shifted with respect to each other in a direction inclined to the axis of rotation of the workpiece, where the axis of rotation of the tool is inclined to this direction of displacement so that at the contact point between tool and workpiece, the working profile of the tool is parallel to the longitudinal direction of the workpiece tooth it touches, such that the workpiece axis also moves in the direction of the tool axis during the displacement.
This method is preferably carried out in such a way that to cancel this movement of the workpiece axis at the processing point, the workpiece is given an additional rotation by means of a pair of gears which are helically toothed and which participate in the mutual displacement of workpiece and tool.
The invention also has a machine for performing this method as its subject, which machine is characterized by a workpiece support slide which is displaceable in said direction inclined to the tool axis and is further characterized in that one of the helical gears on this slide is immovable is stored.
An exemplary embodiment of the method according to the invention will also be explained using the accompanying drawing, which schematically shows an embodiment of the machine according to the invention.
Fig. 1 shows the machine in elevation, partially in section.
Fig. 2 shows the machine in side elevation also partially in section, and Fig. 3 is a plan view of the machine.
The housing 1 of the machine has on its upper side a horizontal guide 2 for a work piece support slide 3, which by. With tel, not shown, can be moved back and forth along this guide. A stand 4 is fastened to the housing 1 and has a vertical guide 5 for a slide 6, to which an electric motor 7 is fastened, the shaft 9 of which carries a grinding wheel 8 with a helical working profile. There are not illustrated provided means that allow the carriage 6 to be adjusted in the vertical direction.
11 designates the workpiece, which is connected to a spindle 10 mounted in the housing of the slide 3 in a rotationally fixed manner. At the other end, the workpiece is mounted on a tailstock 13. The spin del 10, the bearing of which is designated by 12, can be coupled by an engageable and disengageable claw clutch 14 to a shaft 15 which is surrounded by a friction brake 16, the task of which is to dampen certain transient vibrations, and by a Change gear 17 is in drive connection with another shaft 18 mounted in the carriage 3:
The axis of the grinding spindle or motor shaft 9 is inclined at an angle of 80 to the direction of displacement of the carriage 3 and the angle between the workpiece support spindle 10 and this grinding spindle deviates only as much from 90 when a straight-toothed workpiece is to be machined, as on the tool has the helical profile slope angle. In the case of helical workpieces, the pitch of the workpiece's teeth must also be taken into account.
In all cases, the axis of rotation of the tool must be inclined to the displacement direction of the carriage 3 so that at the point of contact between the tool and the workpiece, the working profile of the tool is parallel to the longitudinal direction of the workpiece tooth it touches.
The shaft 15 is coaxial with the workpiece support spindle 10 and parallel to the shaft 18.
In the machine housing 1, a long pinion 19, which is helically toothed under 10, is mounted with its pin 20, the axis of which is parallel to the direction of displacement of the slide 3. With this pinion 19 is a correspondingly helically toothed pinion 21 in a grip, which is fixed on a shaft 22 which is axially immovable in the slide 3. The latter is in drive connection with the shaft 18 via a bevel gear pair 23.
The toothed pinion 19 is driven by an electric motor 24 via a worm gear 25 and a change gear 26. In order to reduce certain oscillating vibrations, a flywheel 27 is provided that is fixed on the motor shaft.
The two motors 7 and 24 are synchronous AC motors, the shafts of which are thus forced to rotate absolutely synchronously because they are coupled to one another via bevel gears 31, 32, shafts 28 and 29 and a coupling 30.
In order to gear a workpiece 11 on this machine according to the hobbing principle, the following procedure is used, for example: By giving the carriage 3 a movement along the guide 2, not only the workpiece is guided past the grinding wheel along its entire length, but also because of its inclination to the direction of this displacement, the axis of the workpiece also executes a movement in a direction parallel to the axis of the grinding wheel. In this way one achieves
that the workpiece moves along the entire length of the grinding wheel when it is being processed, and that as a result, this grinding wheel wears evenly over its entire length.
In detail, the kinematic processes are as follows: It is assumed that the grinding wheel has been replaced by a worm that has the same shape and that a finished workpiece is freely rotatable, i.e. not in drive connection with one of the gears, and that furthermore the carriage 3 remains immobile. The worm will then drive the workpiece as a worm wheel, i. H. set in rotation. It is now assumed that the screw is kept still and that the slide 3 is moved together with the workpiece. The workpiece then performs a rotary movement, which we shall call compensation rotation.
If the worm is now set in rotation and the carriage 3 is pushed ver, the two movements of the workpiece are superimposed.
It can be seen from this that when the slide 3 is displaced, the workpiece not only has to perform the rotation that it would receive from the tool when the slide was at a standstill, but also the compensatory movement. This requirement is met by driving the workpiece by means of the pair of helical gears 19, 21, wel che participate in the mutual displacement.
It should of course be possible to machine workpieces with different diameters: But the angular speed that a certain worm, in our case the grinding wheel, can give to a worm wheel, in our case the workpiece, depends on the diameter or the number of teeth of the worm wheel or the workpiece. It is also understood that the compensatory rotation to be given to any workpiece is inversely related to its diameter if this rotation is measured in degrees, but directly proportional if it is calculated in arc lengths. Consequently, the speed given to the workpiece to be machined must be selected as a function of the diameter of the workpiece.
In order to be able to meet this requirement, the change gear 26 in the drive connection between the motor 24 and pinion 19 and also the change gear 17 in the drive connection between this pinion and the workpiece spindle 10 is provided for driving the workpiece.
In the above we only talked about grinding gears, but it goes without saying that the same method and a similar structure of the machine can also be used for cutting teeth with a hob. In addition, not only gears can be ground or milled, but also other workpieces such. B. splines.
