Process for the preparation of millfast monoazo dyes The present patent relates to a process for the preparation of millfast monoazo dyes of the formula
EMI0001.0005
where R1 is O-CO-HN- in the meta or para position to the azo group, R1 is a straight or branched, primary or secondary and optionally substituted alkyl radical containing more than 6 carbon atoms, y methyl,
Phenyl or a carboxamide group which is optionally substituted on the nitrogen atom and R 2 is hydrogen, a mono- or binuclear aryl radical or an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or an optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or alkyl radical connected via an -SO - or binuclear aryl radical.
The new millfast monoazo dyes are obtained according to the invention if 1 mol of the diazo compound is obtained from an amino-acylaminobenzenesulfonic acid of the formula
EMI0001.0037
where R, - O-CO-HN- is in the meta or para position to the amino group and R1 has the meanings given above,
with 1 mol of a 5-pyrazolone coupling in the 4-position of the formula
EMI0001.0049
where y and R2 have the abovementioned meanings be, coupling.
The coupling of the diazo compound from an amino-acylaminobenzenesulfonic acid of the formula (1I) with a 5-pyrazolone of the formula (III) takes place before geous in an aqueous medium and in the presence of an acid-binding agent and at low temperature, preferably at 5-10 C.
The 2-amino-4- or -5-acylamino-benzene-1-sulfonic acids to be used as starting substances are obtained by monoacylating the 2,4- or 2,5-di-amino-benzene-1-sulfonic acids using a chloroformic acid ester Formula R, - O-CO-CI obtained.
Particularly interesting representatives of the new milled monoazo dyes are those dyes which, by coupling the diazo compound from a 2-amino-4- or -5-carbodecyloxy-, -carbododecyl-oxy- or -carbo- (2 ', 6', 8'-trimethylnonyl-4 ') -oxy-amino-benzene-1-sulfonic acid with a 1- (2'-chloro- or -methyl-phenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone are available.
The new millfast monoazo dyes are used for dyeing and printing fibers, threads, fabrics and structures made from wool and synthetic polyamide fibers in yellow, lightfast and millfast shades.
In the examples below, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
Example 1 18.6 parts of 2-amino-5-carbodecyloxyamino-benzene-1-sulphonic acid (obtainable by reacting 2,5-diamino-benzene-1-sulphonic acid with chloroformic acid decyl ester) Dissolved cold in 300 parts of water with the addition of 6.7 parts of 300/0 sodium hydroxide solution.
3.5 parts of sodium nitrite are added to the solution, it is stirred until everything is dissolved, and the clear liquid obtained is slowly poured into a mixture of 15 parts of 30% strength hydrochloric acid and 50 parts of water, kept at 0-5.
After the end of the diazotization, the fine diazo suspension is mixed with enough concentrated aqueous sodium acetate solution until it reacts neutrally on Congo paper, and then it is left in the well-cooled solution of 9.4 parts of 1- (2'-methylphenyl) - 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 6.7 parts of 300/0 sodium hydroxide solution and 150 parts of water are poured in such that the temperature remains below 10.
The coupling is brought to the end by gradually adding a 10% aqueous soda solution until a weakly alkaline reaction on brilliant yellow paper. The monoazo dye formed is then precipitated using sodium chloride, then filtered off with suction and dried.
It is a yellow-orange powder that dyes wool and synthetic polyamide fibers from a neutral to slightly acidic bath in yellow-orange tones that are fast to light, wash and milled.
Dyeing example 2 parts of the monoazo dye are dissolved in 4000 parts of water at 40-50. 10 parts of crystallized sodium sulfate are added to the solution and 100 parts of wool are introduced into it. After 1 part of 100% acetic acid has been added dropwise, the dyebath is heated to 100 within 30 minutes and held at this temperature for a further 45 minutes. The dye is then taken out of the liquor, rinsed with water and dried.
A greenish yellow dye is obtained which has good lightfastness and very good wash and milled fastness. Synthetic polyamide fibers are also dyed in the same way. A neutral dyebath without the addition of acetic acid produces beautiful, yellow, wash- and mill-fast dyeings on both wool and synthetic polyamide fibers.
The following table lists other dyes which can be represented according to the information in Example 1. You corresponding formula
