<tb> alkoxy, <SEP> cycloalkyl, <SEP> cycloalkoxy, <SEP> aralkyl, <SEP> aralkoxy <SEP> or <SEP> aryl radical <SEP>.
The process for the preparation of the metallizable monoazo dyes consists in that a diazotized 2-amino-1-oxybenzenesulfonic acid phenylamide of the composition
EMI0001.0017
wherein x, y and z are as defined above, with a 1-amino-7-oxynaphthalene of the composition
EMI0001.0020
wherein R has the abovementioned meaning, kup pelt.
The coupling of the diazotized 2-amino-1-oxybenzenesulfonic acid phenylamides of composition (b) with the 1-amino-7-oxynaphthalenes of composition (c) is preferably carried out in an alkaline medium. It sets in quickly and is over after a few hours. The monoazo dyes formed are deposited with advantage by adding salt to the coupling materials, then filtered off and dried. They are obtained in good yields.
From the large number of 2-amino-1-oxybenzenesulfonic acid phenylamides of the composition (b) which can be used as diazo components, the following may be mentioned in particular: 2-amino-1-oxybenzenes-4-sulfonic acid (3'- or 4'-sulfo) -phenylamide , 2-amino-1-oxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid- (2'-methyl-4'- or -5'-sulfo) -phenylamide, 2-amino-1-oxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid- (2'-methoxy- 5'-sulfo) -phenylamide, 2-amino-1-oxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid- (2 ',
5'-dichloro-4'-sulfo) -phenylamide, 2-amino-1-oxy-6-chlorobenzene-4-sulfonic acid- (4'-sulfo) -phenylamide, 2-amino-1-oxy-4-chlorobenzene- 5-sulfonic acid (4'-sulfo) -phenylamide, 2-amino-1-oxy-6-nitrobenzene-4-sulfonic acid- (3'-sulfo) -phenylamide and 2-amino-1-oxy-6-methylbenzene- 4-sulfonic acid- (2'-ethoxy-5'-sulfo) -phenylamide. Preferred 1-amino-7-oxynaphthalenes of the composition (c) are 1-acetylamino-7-oxynaphthalene,
1-carboethoxyamino-7-oxynaphthalene and 1-carbo- (2'-ethoxy) -ethoxyamino-7-oxynaphthalene.
The new metallizable monoazo dyes are dark blue to black powders which are very soluble in water and dissolve in concentrated sulfuric acid with a bluish red color.
They are excellent re-chroming dyes; With the re-chroming dyeing process on wool, they provide beautiful gray to blue-gray tones with excellent light, fulling, washing and carbonization fastness. In the following examples, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
<I> Example 1 </I> 34.4 parts of 2-amino-1-oxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid- (3'-sulfo) -phenylamide are dissolved in 150 parts of water and, after addition of 25 parts, 30% hydrochloric acid diazotized to solution at 0-5 with 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite. The diazo solution thus prepared is added in a thin stream to an ice-cold solution of 20.5 parts of 1-acetylamino-7-oxynaphthalene, 4.4 parts of sodium hydroxide, 30 parts of sodium carbonate and 200 parts of water.
The coupling to the monoazo dye starts immediately and is complete after several hours of stirring at 0-5. The mass is heated to 40 and the monoazo dye formed is deposited therefrom by adding sodium chloride. It is filtered off and dried. The new monoazo dye is a black powder which dissolves in water with a blue-gray color and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a claret-red color. The dye has a very high solubility in water.
Its re-chrome-plated dyeings on wool have excellent light, fulling, washing and carbonization fastness.
The table below contains further monoazo dyes which can be prepared according to the information in Example 1. They are characterized by diazo and azo components as well as the color of their chromed dyes on wool.
