EMI0001.0009
Process for the preparation of an azo dye. It has been found that valuable azo dyes are retained if the diazo compounds of sulfoanthranilic acid derivatives of the following composition are used
EMI0001.0009
wherein R is an OH, 0., alkyl, 0., aryl, 0., aralkyl group or the grouping <B>N<I>X</I> </B> means in which X and Y for hydrogen <B>, </B> alkyl,
Aryl, aralkyl or hydroaromatic radicals and in which R 'and R "are hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or hydroai, aromatic, with aminoaphtholsulfonic acids or such derivatives of 1-aryl-5- pyrazolons which contain at least one solubilizing group.
The dyes obtained are particularly suitable for dyeing animal fibers and, with good leveling power, give dyeings with very good real working properties, in particular excellent fastness to light and good fastness to perspiration. Insofar as the dyes can be traced, dyeings with good potting and milled fastness are obtained.
The subject of the present patent is a process for the production of an azo dye, which is characterized in that the diazo compound of 1-aminobenzene <B> - </B> 2 <B> - </B> carboxylic acid dietbylamide <B> -5 </B> - sulfonic acid diethylamide couples with 2-amino-8-iiaphthol-6-sulfonic acid in an acidic medium.
<I> Example: </I> 16.4 parts by weight of 1-aminobenzene-2-earbonic acid diethylamide are converted into <B> 50 </B> parts by weight of 50 percent sulfuric acid stirred in and converted into the diazo compound by adding about 8.6 parts by weight of a 40 percent solution of sodium nitrite at about OOC.
The strongly acidic diazo solution obtained in this way is blunted with a solution of about 32 parts by weight of sodium bicarbonate in about 300 parts of water and, if necessary, filtered. A neutral, aqueous solution of 12.5 parts by weight of 2-amino-8-napthol-6-sulfonic acid, prepared in a customary manner, is run into this diazo solution at about 0-5 ° C.
After some time, about 20 parts by weight of crystallized sodium acetate are added until the mass no longer reacts acidic to the Congo, heat to about <B> 700 </B> and salt with about <B> 100 </B> parts by weight of table salt . The dye is then filtered at about 40 ° C., pressed and dried.
It is a dark red powder that dyes wool from an acid bath in lively blue, pungent red tones, which are characterized by very good lightfastness and good perspiration resistance. The dyeing on light-weight, such as looser silk is also very lightfast.
