Timepiece The subject of the present patent is a timepiece comprising, as a second indicator member, a disc rotating at a rate of one revolution per minute.
This timepiece is characterized by the fact that the index cooperating with this disc is subject to a mechanism imparting to it an alternating movement with a period equal to one second.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention. The first embodiment is represented by FIGS. 1, 2 and 3.
Fig. 1 is a plan view; fig. 2 is a plan view, on a larger scale, of part of the watch; fig. 3 is a sectional view along the line III-III of FIG. 2.
The second embodiment, which constitutes a variant of the first embodiment, is shown in FIGS. 4 and 5.
Fig. 4 is a partial plan view on a large scale; fig. 5 is a section along the line V-V of FIG. 4.
The first embodiment constitutes a wristwatch, the case of which is designated by 10, the hour indicator tape by 11, the minutes indicator tape by 12, the seconds indicator disc by 13, the movement by 14, the drums with pins driving the indicator ribbons through 15 and 16, the return drums through 17 and 18. These drums are provided with pins journaled in bearings formed by two studs 19 and two flanges 20 formed by the edges of a fixed plate 21 on the upper part of the movement.
The mechanism transmitting the movement of the roadway 22 to the indicator tapes 11 and 12 is arranged between the plate 21 and an apron 23 supported by columns 24a and 24b produced with the studs 19. The disc 13 and its index 25 are located at the bottom. over this apron.
The mechanism transmitting the movement of the roadway to the ribbons 11 and 12 consists of two sets of gears controlled respectively by the pinion 26 and the wheel 27 of a mobile driven with heavy friction on the roadway 22 and rotating in a circular recess 21a of the plate 21.
The pinion 26 drives a wheel 28, pivoted about an axis 29 riveted in the plate 21, which drives a toothed wheel 30 rotating on a bearing surface formed by the column 24b, which wheel meshes with a toothed wheel 31 rotatably secured to the drum 16 The reduction of this train is such that, during one revolution of the roadway 22, the tape 11 advances by the interval between two successive time divisions.
The wheel 27 meshes with the pinion 32 of a mobile, rotating around a barrel 33 formed by the inner edge of the plate 21, whose wheel 34 drives a wheel 35 pivoted in the same way as the wheel 28, which drives the drum 15 by means of a gear 36-37 similar to that formed by the wheels 30 and 31. The ratio of the gears of this kinematic chain is such that the

tape 12, divided into intervals corresponding to one minute, made like causeway 22, one complete revolution in one hour.
The originality of this watch lies in the fact that the index 25 cooperating with the disc 13, which is graduated in sixty seconds and makes one revolution in one minute, is not fixed, like the indexes 38 and 39 cooperating with the ribbons 11 and 12, but subject to a mechanism which gives it an alternating movement bringing it closer and further away sixty times per minute, so once per second, from the disc 13.
_ This mechanism comprises a ratchet wheel 41, provided with sixty teeth, mounted on the axis 40 of the indicator disc 13, a pawl 42 whose nose engages with the teeth of this ratchet wheel and whose tail is pinched between the free end of a leaf spring 43, and a stop pin 44. These last two members are fixed to the lower part of the apron 23, while the pawl 42 is wedged on a pin 45 passing through the barrel 33 and pivoted between the plate 21 and the apron 23. The upper end of this pin 45 has two arms, one of which carries the index 25 and the other a small balancing weight 46.
The operation of the latter mechanism is as follows: every second, the beak of the pawl 42 is raised by a tooth of the ratchet 41 against the elastic blade 43, then falls under the action of this blade, on the flank of the next tooth, which has the consequence of imparting to the index 25 an alternating movement bringing it closer and away sixty times per minute from the disc 13.
The second embodiment differs from the first form described only by the mechanism imparting the reciprocating movement to the index 25. The various members of this mechanism are mounted between a plate 21 fixed to the movement, a bridge 50 and an apron 23.
This mechanism comprises a mobile formed by two toothed wheels 51 and 52, wedged on an axis 53 journaled in the plate 21 and the apron 23. The wheel 51 is provided with a normal toothing in engagement with that of a wheel 54 integral with the seconds indicator disc 13, while wheel 52 is a ratchet as seen in FIG. 4. The toothing of this wheel 52 cooperates with the end of a rod 55 capable of sliding in a guide 56 fixed on the bridge 50 against a counter spring 57. The second end of the rod 55 carries the 'Index 25 which is arranged with the disc 13 in the plane of the apron 23 in a shaped cutout 58 that has the latter.
The wheel 52 is provided with sixty teeth and, like the indicator disc 13, makes one revolution per minute.
The operation of this mechanism is as follows: every second, the rod 55 is lifted, against the spring 57, by the side of one tooth of the wheel 52, then falls on the side of the next tooth under the The action of the spring 57, which has the consequence of imparting to the index 25 a longitudinal reciprocating movement bringing it closer to and away sixty times per minute from the disc 13.
