Apparatus for the projection of a plastic material by means of a compressed fluid The present invention relates to an apparatus for the projection of a plastic material, by example of a cement plaster or similar materials, by means of a compressed fluid and capable of being adapted for example on a spray lance.
It is known that the spraying of plasters is frequently used in construction by means of compressed air or water apparatus in which the solid, liquid or pasty plaster is fed into a lance or the like at the end of which a compressed air or water line also arrives; generally the driving fluid is introduced into the mass of the coating by means of orifices provided in the end of the lance and thus makes it possible to forcefully expel this coating and to project it onto the wall to be coated.
However, devices of this type have the serious drawback of not being able to ensure a continuous and regular flow of the coating due to the fact that the orifices through which the driving fluid is supplied are easily blocked, which has the effect of reducing ejection rate and delay the projection of materials.
The object of the present invention is an apparatus intended to avoid this drawback and characterized in that it comprises a central tubular duct through which the material to be sprayed is brought, an annular space of substantially frustoconical shape, surrounding the tube. end of said conduit and opening at the periphery of the stream of material exiting through said end, said annular space being in communication with a pressurized fluid conduit, and an ejection tube placed in line with the conduit and arranged so as to stir and project the mixture of fluid and material which is thus obtained at the outlet of said tubular duct.
It can be seen that, by virtue of this device, the compressed fluid is introduced to the periphery of the material stream brought in by the central duct without the frustoconical annular space bringing this fluid into direct contact with this material. In addition, due to the frustoconical or whistle shape of this annular space, the risk of seeing the material to be projected entering it is completely eliminated.
Furthermore, this shape of the annular space ensures better suction. of the material and thereby significantly improves the projection itself. At the same time, the ejection tube provides excellent mixing of material and fluid.
The single figure of the appended drawing represents, by way of example, a longitudinal sectional view of an embodiment of the apparatus forming the subject of the invention.
The apparatus shown comprises a central tubular duct 1 terminated by a cylindrical end piece 2 into which the material is fed. The latter may be a cement plaster or any other plastic, semi-plastic, pasty or similar material. The end piece 2 is surrounded by an annular part 3 substantially of revolution forming with this end piece 2 an annular chamber 4. This chamber 4 is connected by a pipe 5 to a source of compressed fluid, air, gas or the like. . It ends at its front part with a conical truncated wall 6 which tightens and forms a frustoconical annular space 7 with an outer peripheral zone 8 in a truncated cone formed at the end of the end piece 2.
This frustoconical annular space 7 corresponds to a restriction of the stream of the compressed ejection gas.
The front face 9 of this frustoconical space has substantially the same diameter as the inner surface of the end piece 2.
The part 3 is connected at its front part to an ejection tube 10 having a tightened zone 11, a constriction 12 and a flared zone 13 so as to function in the manner of a Venturi.
The material being fed along arrow f and the compressed gas along arrow g, the mixture exits through face 14 of the ejection tube.
The operation of the device is as follows: The flow of material receives at its outlet from the nozzle 2 and following a peripheral zone a violent current of compressed gas acting tangentially in the direction of ejection and consequently producing a suction phenomenon accelerating this ejection. Given the high dynamic pressure zone prevailing at the neck 12, the zone 11 is the seat of a violent stirring perfectly mixing the material and the compressed fluid. At 13 the mixture is expelled towards the outlet port 14.
It will be noted that the veins of material and of compressed gas, as well as the vein of the mixture, preferably have a section which decreases as far as the constricted zone 12 of the ejection tube.
One could, therefore, provide without inconvenience a tip 2 and / or a chamber 4 slightly conical tapering in the direction of flow of the material.
According to a variant, the frustoconical space 7 opening at the edge of the material flow could be formed by the wall 6 of the part 3 and by another internal wall of this same part, that is to say be formed without cooperation of the wall 7 of the end piece 2. Following yet another variant, the ejection tube 10 can be formed by an extension of the part 3 instead of being attached to it as shown in attached figure.
