Gun for spraying paints and other liquids. The main patent relates to an udder for spraying paints and other liquids, which is characterized in that it comprises a frame to which are attached a small electric motor, a device for propelling air and driven by this motor, at least one nozzle combined with at least one nozzle and through which this air is expelled, means for controlling the nozzle, a handle for holding the gun during use and means for removably adapting this frame to a container and connecting the nozzle to the liquid to be sprayed in this container.
In the gun described and shown in the main patent, the following phenomenon occurs: The air leaving the blower and entering the nozzle takes, inside the latter, a swirling movement around the axis of the nozzle, since it exits tangentially from the fan. As a result, it is difficult to obtain, at the outlet of the nozzle, a sprayed sheet of planar shape, this sheet having a tendency to rotate about an axis extending that of the nozzle. In addition, the air leaving the latter, due to this rotational movement, determines a centrifugal action on the droplets, which causes them to move rapidly away from the axis, these droplets also seeking , to flee by the tangent.
The heavier droplets being more stressed, move away more quickly than the lighter droplets with which they collide and come together to form even heavier droplets. This results in a jet containing fine droplets at the center and larger droplets at the periphery; the large droplets then fall in the form of rain and it is impossible to obtain a correct projection of the liquid. In order to prevent this rotation of the jet, it is essential that the air reaches the orifice of the nozzle in the form of threads free from any swirling movement.
The object of the present invention is to provide a gun overcoming the drawbacks mentioned. Its purpose is a pistol for. spraying paints and other liquids, according to the claim of the main patent, which is characterized in that said nozzle has, inside it, guiding means forcing the air streams, arriving at the outlet orifice and escaping from it, to flow practically along plane trajectories.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, a partial embodiment of the gun which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial sectional view along I-I of FIG. 2, of the nozzle of this embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a front view of this nozzle corresponding to FIG. 1.
The gun shown comprises, like that described in the main patent, a frame to which are attached a small electric motor, a blower propelling air and driven by this motor, and a nozzle combined with a nozzle and through which this air is expelled. It further comprises means for controlling the nozzle, a handle for holding the gun during use and means for removably adapting this frame to a receptacle and connecting the nozzle to the liquid to be sprayed which it contains. container.
The accompanying drawing shows only the part of the gun which differs from the construction described in the main patent.
The part of the body of the gun through the interior 2 of which the air coming from the fan (not shown) arrives at the nozzle, swirling around the axis 3 of this nozzle, has been indicated at 1. The latter com takes a cap 4 which is fixed to part 1 by means of lugs 5 integral with 1 and engaging in a groove of an internal ring 6 integral with the cap, to constitute a fastening means of the type to bayon-cleaned. A washer 7 of elastic material is pressed between the ring 6 and an inner shoulder 8 of the cap 4.
Inside the cap 4 is a part 9 of cylindrical shape, cooperating, by its outer surface, on the one hand, at 10, with part 1 of the body of the gun and, on the other hand, at 11, with the interior of the cap 4. This interior part 9 has flat radial ribs 12 extending over its entire length and supporting the nozzle 13 for the liquid outlet. There is indicated at 14 the valve controlling the arrival of the liquid inside this nozzle and, at 15, the conduit for the arrival of this liquid to this valve.
An annular seal 16, made of a deformable material such as rubber for example, is pressed between the end 17 of the internal part 9 and the bottom 18 of the cap 4. We see, at 19, the central orifice of the cap. 9: through which the air and the liquid to be sprayed exit the gun. It will be understood that, thanks to the presence of the flat radial ribs 12, the air arrives at this orifice 19 and escapes therefrom in the form of threads flowing practically along flat paths. The drawback pointed out in the preamble is thus avoided.
The cap 4 is rotatably mounted on part 1 of the body of the gun and it has two longitudinal interior channels 20, 21 serving to supply air to the jet for the purpose which will be indicated. These longitudinal channels are continued at the end of the cap through oblique holes 22, 23, opening beyond the orifice 19.
In a certain angular position of the cap 4 with respect to the part 1 (the angular position shown in fig. 2 and in the upper half of fig. 1), the channels 20 and 21 coincide with two openings 24, 25 which are formed radially in the cylindrical part 9. The air flowing longitudinally inside the nozzle therefore enters the channels 20 and 21 through the holes 24, 25. This air, leaving these channels at 22, 23, produces the 'crushing of the jet escaping from the orifice 19, thus giving it the shape of a flat sheet.
By a 90-degree rotation of the cap, the channels 20, 21 can be made to coincide with two other holes 26, 27, analogous to 24, 25, to produce the crushing of the jet in the form of a flat sheet oriented perpendicular to the the one just mentioned.
