Description
Weight for a self-winding watch The object of the present invention is a weight for a self-winding watch.
This mass is characterized in that it comprises a first pendular element capable of pivoting relative to the frame of the watch and whose movements are intended to be transmitted to the barrel shaft, and at least one other pendular element pivoting freely in the first of said elements, with a view to transmitting to it an initial impulse intended to facilitate its starting during a change of position of its pivot axis.
One embodiment of the mass, object of the invention, is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 is a plan view thereof, and FIG. 2 is a section taken along the line 11-11 of FIG. 1.
The mass shown is intended for winding a wristwatch. It comprises a first semi-circular element 1, of uniform thickness, comprising a part 2 driven on an axis 3 and having a cylindrical recess 4. The axis 3 is perpendicular to the plane of the element 1 and it is housed in the center of the semi-circle defined by this element (fig. 1).
The axis 3 carries a pinion 5, in engagement with a transmission device connected to the barrel shaft of the watch, in order to carry out the reassembly of the mainspring under the action of the movements of the element 1 .
A second element 6, similar in shape to that of element 1, apart from the recess 4, is driven on a pin 7, through which it pivots in element 1, the bearings of pin 7 being supported, one by part 2, and the other by a plate 8 integral with part 2 and covering the recess 4.
The position of the plate 8 relative to the part 2 is marked by means of two pins 9 and it is fixed to this part by two screws 10.
The mass described thus constitutes a double pendulum and it can be pivoted in the movement of the watch, for example between the plate and a bridge.
Over masses formed by a simple pendulum, it has the advantage of starting more easily. Practice has shown, in fact, that the members for transmitting the movement of the winding mass to the barrel shaft often oppose a resistance such that a usual immobile mass does not move when the watch is subjected to a slow moving.
In the construction described, on the other hand, the element 6 moves very freely; it starts to move when the watch is moved the least and therefore transmits an initial impulse to element 1, which starts by winding the watch.
It is quite clear that several elements 6 could be mounted on the same element 1, these elements 6 all being freely pivoted about parallel axes. In particular, in the case where the element 1 has the form of a current winding mass, comprising a heavy half-crown connected to a hub by arms or a thin veil, several cylindrical recesses could be arranged in said crown. and small pendulum elements pivoted inside these recesses.
