EMI0001.0018

Method for the production of monoazo-carbato $ en The present invention relates to a method for the production of blonoazo-dyes, which are suitable for dyeing natural and artificial polypeptide fibers in real, bluish red. Suitable tones.
It has been found that acidic coupling of 2-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid with dia.zotierten 2-aminobenzene-1-sulfonic acid a.ryl esters gives very valuable monoazo dyes of the general formula I,
EMI0001.0018
where A is an aromatic radical of the benzene or naphthalene series,
which may contain nonionic substituents customary in azo dyes. These new dyes produce very pure, bluish red dyeings on wool, which are very lightfast.
Depending on the composition, they have a very good to sufficient leveling power with good to very good wet fastness properties of the wool dye.
Diazo components which can be used according to the invention are obtained by reacting 2-nitrobenzene-1-sulfonic acid chloride with the alkali metal salts of aromatic hydroxyl compounds of the benzene and naphthalene series which, in addition to the hydroxyl group, may also contain nonionogenic subatuents common in azo dyes, for example haulogen ,
Alkyl @, alkoxy, aralkyl, aryl, cyclo @ alkyl, fused alkylene, acylamino, alkyl or arylsulfonyl substituents, which for their part can optionally also be nonionic,
and reduction of the nitro to the amino group. The 2-aminobenzene-1-sulfonic acid esters of 1-oxybenzene and its homologous alkyl compounds are preferred. The phenol-derived dye is characterized by its particularly good leveling ability on wool, while that of acrylic and
Cycloalkylphenols with 4 or more carbon atoms in the alkyl or cycloalkyl or fused-on alkylene radical have very good wet fastness properties with equally good lightfastness, in particular good fulling and seawater fastness with fairly good leveling power.
The diazotization of the 2-aminobenzene-l-sulfonic acid aryl esters which can be used according to the invention takes place in a mineral acid solution or suspension in the cold with sodium nitrite, the addition of organic solubilizers such as lower alcohols, lower fatty acids or their amides often having a beneficial effect on the exercises a uniform course.
The coupling with the 2-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid or with the aqueous solutions of its alkali metal salts is carried out in the cold with an acidic, advantageously mineral acid, reaction.
The fiction, contemporary dyes are red powders in the form of their alkali salts, which dissolve in water with a bluish red color, in concentrated sulfuric acid with a red color, and wool, depending on the composition, from a more or less acidic bath in very pure, bluish red, lightfast shades to dye.
The following examples illustrate the invention without restricting it. Here parts mean parts by weight and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
Example 1 94.9 parts of 2-aminobenzene-1-sulfonic acid phenyl ester are dissolved in 90 parts of 80% acetic acid while warm, 35 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid are added and the mixture is cooled to 5. A solution of 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite in 15 parts of water is added to this cold solution fairly quickly and the mixture is stirred. at 10 another hour.
The clear solution of the diazo compound is then left at 5-10 within 30 minutes to form a solution of the sodium salt of 23.9 parts of 2-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid in 150 Share the water flowing that has previously been acidified with acetic acid. Stir at 10-12 for 16 hours, increasing. then slowly increase the temperature to 60. and stir for a further hour at this temperature. Then with.
Sodium carbonate is added until a weakly alkaline reaction is reached, and the dyestuff that has excreted is sucked off at 65. and washed well with 2.5% saline solution and dried. In the form of his sodium salt, he presents a brown-red powder, which you can see in water with red, in conc. Sulfuric acid dissolves with a bluish red color and dyes wool from an acid bath very evenly in pure, bluish red tones.
The diazo component is obtained by reacting 2-nitrobenzene-l-sulfonyl chloride with aqueous sodium phenolate solution at 60 to 80 and reducing the nitro to amino group in the resulting 2-nitrobenzene-l-sulphonic acid phenyl ester by the method of Beehamp in the presence of alcohol .
Dyes of similar properties, which, however, equalize somewhat less well, are obtained if 26.3 parts of 2-aminobenzene-l-sulfonic acid 2'- or 3'- or 4'-methylphenyl ester are used in place of the above diazo component or 27.7 parts of 2-aminobenzene-1-sulfonic acid 3 ', 4'- or 2', 4'-dimethyl phenyl ester are used and the rest of the procedure is the same.
The dye can be dyed as follows: 100 parts of pre-wetted wool are introduced into a bath at 40 which contains 2 parts of the monoazo dye, 10 parts of sodium sulfate and 2 parts of acetic acid in 3000 parts of water. One drifts. within. half an hour to boil, add 1 part formic acid and cook for another half hour. It is then rinsed with cold water and dried. A very uniform, clear, blue-tinged red wool dyeing is obtained which is very easy to borrow.
Example 2 31.9 parts of 2-amine (Y1) enzene-l-sulfonic acid-l'-tert. amyl-phenyl esters are dissolved warm in 90 parts of 80% acetic acid. and 40 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid are added, the chlorohydric acid crystallizing out on cooling.
It is then diazotized at 0-5 by the slow dropwise addition of a solution of 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite in 25 parts of water over a period of 2 hours and the mixture is stirred until a clear solution. originated.
This diazo compound is allowed to flow within 30 minutes at 5-10 to a solution of the sodium salt of 23.9 parts of 2-amino-8-oxy-naphthalene-6-sulfonic acid in 150 parts of water, which has previously been slightly acidified with acetic acid. The mixture is stirred for 10 hours at 10, then for 16 hours at room temperature, then the temperature is increased to 65 within one hour by slow heating and is kept at this temperature for another hour.
It is then neutralized with sodium carbonate and the dyestuff which has separated out is filtered off in the heat, washed with a warm 2% saline solution and dried. The sodium salt is obtained as a brownish red powder, which looks in hot water with red, in conc. Sulfuric acid dissolves with a bluish red color and dyes wool from an acid bath in pure bluish red tones, whitewater and seawater.
Dyes with similar properties are obtained if, in the above example, the diaro component is replaced by equal parts of 2-aminobenzene-1-sulfonic acid, 2'-methyl-4'-tert. buty 1- phen:
vl-ester, 33.1 parts of 2-amino-benzene-l-snl-fonsäure-4'-cyclohexylphenylester, 30.3 parts of 2-amino-benzene-l-snlfonsäure- ', 4'-tetramethylene-phenylester or replaced by 35.1 parts of 2-aminobenzo @ ll-sulfonic acid -4'-däisobutyl-phenyl ester and the rest of the procedure is the same.
These diazo components are obtained by the method described in Example 1. Example 3 \? 8.4 parts of 2-aminobenzene-1-sulfonic acid 2'-elilor-plienyl ester are, as described in Example 1, diazotized and the clear Dia.zo- dissolves at 5-10 in an acetic acid solution of the sodium salt of 23,
e9 parts of 2-amino-8-oxyna.phthalin-6-sulfonic acid in 150 parts of water are allowed to run in within 30 minutes. The mixture is stirred for 10 hours at 10, then 16 hours at room temperature, drives. then within an hour the temperature reaches 65, is kept at this temperature for one hour, neutralized with sodium carbonate and the precipitated dye is filtered off while hot, washing it with it. warm 2.5% saline solution and. dries him.
A red powder is obtained, which is dissolved in water with red, in conc. Sulfuric acid with. blue-tinged red paint dissolves and dyes wool from an acid bath in lightfast blue tinged red tones. Dyes with similar properties are obtained if equal parts of the corresponding 3'- or 4'-chlorophenyl ester are used in the above example.
A similar dye is also obtained if 32.7 parts of 2-aminobenzene-1-sulfo @ nsäuTe-4'-methylsulfonylphenyl ester are used in place of the above dia.zo component. These diazo components are accessible by the method described in Example 1:
