Additional patent to main patent no. 297840. Process for the production of a cobalt-containing azofarbatoües. It has been found that a new, valuable, cobalt-containing azo dye can be obtained by using a mixture of the two monoazo dyes that correspond to the formulas
EMI0001.0007
correspond, lets the cobalt-releasing agent act in such a way that an azo dye containing cobalt is formed,
which contains one molecule of each of the two starting monoazo dyes bound to a cobalt atom complex.
The new dye is a water-soluble, dark powder that dyes wool from weakly alkaline, neutral or weakly acetic acid baths in violet-tinged Bordeaux shades of good light and wash fastness.
The two monoazo dyes used as starting materials in the present process can be prepared by methods known per se by diazotized 2-arrirro-1-oxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid amide with 5,8-dielloro-1-oxynaphthalene and diazotized 2-amino -1 - Coupling oxybenzene-4-sulfonsäLire-methylamide with 1- acetylamino-7-oxynaphthalene in an alkaline medium.
When carrying out the process, it is generally advisable to use a cobalt-releasing agent containing about one gram atom of cobalt for a total of about 2 moles of monoazo dye and about 1 mole of each of the two dyes used as starting materials and / or to carry out the metallization in a weakly acidic to alkaline medium.
There are, for example, particularly suitable as cobalt-releasing agents for carrying out the process, complex cobalt compounds aliphatic seher o-oxycarboxylic acids which contain the cobalt in complex bonds. Examples of aliphatic oxycarboxylic acids that may be mentioned include lactic acid, glycolic acid, citric acid and, in particular, tartaric acid. Simple cobalt compounds, e.g. B.
Salts of divalent cobalt, such as cobalt sulfate or cobalt acetate and optionally cobalt hydroxide, can also be used as cobalt-releasing agents.
The conversion of the dyes into the complex cobalt compound takes place with advantage in the heat, open or under pressure, z. B. at 70 to 75, optionally in the presence of suitable additives, e.g. B. in the presence of salts of organic acids, bases, organic solvents or white direct agents promoting complex formation.
Example: 20.6 parts of the dye from diazotized 2-amino-1-oxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid amide and 5,8-dichloro-1-oxynaphthalene and 20.7 parts of the dye from dianotized 2-amino Oxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid methylamide and 1-acetylamino-7-oxynaphthalene are dissolved with the addition of 8 parts of sodium hydroxide in 1000 parts of 80 warm water and 100 parts of a cobalt sulfate solution with a cobalt content
offset by 3.25%. After about half an hour of stirring at 80, the metallization is complete. The dye solution obtained is neutralized by adding acetic acid and evaporated to dryness.
