Freewheel coupling device. The present invention relates to a coupling device with freewheel, friction, in which the two elements, driving and driven, are concentric.
This device is characterized by a connecting piece arranged in a circular opening: of one of the two elements, this piece having substantially the shape of a semicircle and having, on the one hand, two outer heels, of which the 'one is located in the vicinity of one of the ends of said part, intended to bear on the side wall of said core when, the second element rotating in one direction,
a boss of this element exerts a pressure on the inner face of said part, between the two heels, which angularly secures the two elements to each other, the connecting part having, in addition, a sail internal hook-shaped link, located in the vicinity of its end opposite to that presenting one of the heels, projection to which an arm of the second element is hooked when it turns in the opposite direction,
to cause the connecting piece to slide into the core, thus separating the two elements from each other.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention. 'Fig. 1 is a plan view of the device in the disengaged position.
Fig. 2 is a section along II-II of FIG. 1. FIG. 3 is a plan view of the device in the clutch position, and FIG. 4 is a plan view of part of a watch illustrating an application of the device.
The device shown comprises an element consisting of -a wheel 1 in the upper face of which is formed a groove 2, the side wall 3 of which is limited by an annular shoulder 1a extending radially inward; the bottom and the side wall of this core are perfectly smooth.
The other element comprises a pinion 4 on which is wedged a cut-out plate 5 located in the core 2 and having -a bos sage 5a, an arm 5b and an arcuate part 5c itself having an external projection 5d penetrating under the flange 1a so as to prevent any axial play of the driving element 4-5. A connecting piece 6, having the general shape of a circular arc, is also freely placed in the core 2.
This connecting piece has, at one of its ends, a heel 6a then, substantially in its middle, a heel 6b and finally, at its opposite end, an internal projection 6c, as well as an external boss 6d. The two heels 6a and 6b and the boss 6d penetrate under the rim la, so that the part 6 cannot leave the recess 2, regardless of the position in which the watch is held.
The outer face of the heels 6a and 6b is rectilinear, so that they each enter. in contact with the wall 3 of the core at two points 7 and 8.
The device works as follows: The two elements can be either leading or driven. Assuming that the pinion 4 is the driving element, when this pinion and, consequently, the plate 5 are driven in the direction of arrow 9, the end 10 of the. arm 5b clings to the interior hook-shaped projection 6c of the part 6 and drives the latter in the same direction.
The heels 6a and 6b slide against the wall 3 of the core, and the wheel wheel 1 is not driven (fig.1). On the contrary, when the part 5 rotates in the direction of the arrow 11 (FIG. 3), the boss 5a bears on the inner face 12 of the part 6, at a point 13 situated between the heels 6a and 6b.
The part 5 exerts on the part 6 a pressure which tends to apply the heels against the wall 3 of the core. Thanks to this pressure, the wheel 2 is driven by friction. The more the pressure of the part 5 increases, the better the blockage.
This coupling has the advantage of operating very quickly, the lost stroke depending only on the small space 14 located between the end 10 of the arm 5b and the projection 6c; in addition, the clutch is instantaneous, the friction necessary for the drive being obtained without any jamming.
Fig. 4 illustrates an example of application of such a device. It represents a self-winding watch in which the barrel rocker 15 is driven by the crown wheel 16, which is itself driven by the pinion 4 of the device. The wheel 1 of the device is engaged with a pinion 17, integral with a wheel 18 belonging to the gear train of the automatic winder.
Thanks to this arrangement, the movements of the automatic reset are transmitted to the barrel by the crown wheel 16, whereas. the movements of the crown wheel produced by the hand winder, of which the sliding pinion 19 has been shown alone, and very schematically, are not transmitted to the automatic winder.
