Remote control receiver relay. The present invention, due to. 1IlI. Jacques Pelpel and Walter Urech, relates to a receiver relay for centralized remote control installations, by current. with musical frequency superimposed on the electric power distribution networks, and in which a command order is. defined by the time interval between the reception of two electrical impulses.
We know. that in installations of this kind, the first impulse (starting impulse) causes the closure of the circuit of a synchronous motor which performs a defined number of revolutions resulting in a rotational movement of the switching arms which can. actuate the contacts of the control circuits, said synchronous motor then automatically switching off. The second pulse (execution pulse), transmitted during the operation of the synchronous motor after a time t, after the start pulse (ce.
time interval t, characterizing. remote control command), allows. the actuation of the contacts of a determined control circuit. Of course, during the period of operation of the synchronous motor, other execution pulses offset by a time t., T3 ... with respect to the starting pulse can also be transmitted, which thus allows the execution of other specific commands.
It is also known that, in order to avoid in these remote control installations, unwanted operation of the relays of a network by execution pulses transmitted on another network interconnected with the first, the following transmission method is used. before: The time interval between the start pulse and a run pulse is. an odd multiple of an elementary time and, moreover, the time interval between two execution impulses is an even multiple of this elementary time, this one being defined by half of the minimum time between two execution pulses.
The receiving relay according to the invention is characterized by means which prevent it from being sensitive to the impulses subsequent to the first impulse which it has received - and which constituted for it the starting impulse - if the interval of time which elapses between each of these pulses and the first is an even multiple of an elementary time equal to half the minimum time separating two pulses. execution, but which make it sensitive to these pulses if the time interval which elapses between them and the first pulse is an odd multiple of this elementary time.
The invention will be clearly understood with the aid of the description which follows and of the accompanying drawings, which description and descriptions are, of course, given by way of example.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the receiving relay according to the invention.
Fig. 2 shows, on a larger scale, a detail of the relay mechanism.
Fig. 3 represents a variant of the positive excitation device of the electromagnet for starting up the receiving relay.
We see in 1-1 'the two terminals of a distribution network. 2 shows a mechanically tuned vibrating blade. to the remote control musical frequency superimposed on the network. 3 represents the excitation winding of the vibrating blade connected in series with a capacitor 4, this assembly constituting a resonance circuit also tuned to the musical frequency of emission. The vibrating plate 2 is placed in the field of a permanent magnet 7. This vibrating plate has at its free end a contact 6 which rests when it is at rest on a contact 5 ′ fixed on a second plate 5 whose period clean is large with respect to the period of vibration of the vibrating blade. 9 is a resistor connected in series with contact 6.
When the blade \. 'Does not vibrate, the coil 8' of an electromagnet 8 is. short-circuited by the assembly 5-5'-6- \ ?. This coil 8, when it is excited, attracts a pallet 10 which pivots around its axis 10 '. Pallet 10 is. maintained in its rest position by a spring 1.1, when the coil 8 'is not. excited. 1.2 is. an insulating arm, integral with the pallet 10 which, when the latter is attracted, releases the elastic blade 13 which then presses on the also elastic blade 14. These two blades 13 and 14 have two contacts which, when they press. one on top of the other, close. the synchronous motor supply circuit 15.
This drives, on the one hand, through the intermediary of the toothed wheels 16-17, a shaft 18 and, via the toothed wheels 16-17-19-20, a shaft 21.
The cogs 16-17 are determined so that the shaft 18 makes a complete revolution during the minimum time between two execution pulses. Shaft 18 is behind it. cam 37 and, via the toothed wheels 24 and 25, the. cam 22 which rotates freely. on the tree 21.
The cogs 16-17-19-20 are. determined so that the shaft 21 makes one complete revolution during an interval of time equal to that which elapses between the first pulse (start pulse) and the last of the execution pulses plus an elementary time. The shaft 21 drives the cam 23 and. the circular trays 47 and 48. These carry. at their periphery a number of equally distributed notches, such as 49 and 50. The index 51 mounted gently on the shaft 21 can be moved relative. to the circular plate 47.
It is fitted with a ratchet device. which penetrates into the notches of the circular plate 47 and. which allows him to occupy a well-determined position on said plateau. The same is true of the index 52 which can be moved relative to the circular plate 48 and can. occupy a well-defined position on this last plateau. Each determined position of the indexes 51 and 52 corresponds to a determined command which can. be made under the action of an execution impulse as will be specified later.
The two cams 22 and 23 act on a finger 27, integral with an angled lever 26, which can. pivot around the axis 28 and which carries a finger. made of insulating material 29. This finger 29 can move the elastic blades 13 and 14.
The movable pallet 1.0 of the electromagnet 8 is terminated at its upper part by a fork 30 to. the interior of which penetrates the tree 53. From part. and. on the other of the oven 30 are placed two stops 31 and 32 integral with the shaft 53, so that, when the movable pallet 10 pivots about its axis 10 ', the shaft 53 is. animated by a translational movement. This shaft comprises a journal 33. When the movable pallet 10 is attracted against the armatures of the electromagnet 8, the journal 33 moves towards the cam 37. It abuts against this cam when the latter occupies a position such as that shown. on the face.
It passes under the cam 37 if the latter has its setback profile 37 'in front of said journal. A fork 39, comprising two nozzles 40-41, rests on this journal. This fork pivots freely around a shaft 36 and is subjected to the action of a spring 42. When the journal 33 passes under the cam 37, the fork 39, biased by the spring 42, rocks :, (the so that the spout -10 maintains the journal 33 in the position it has reached.
The cam 37 has a finger 38 which, during the rotation of said cam, pushes the nose 41 of the fork 39, when the latter has. tilted, as has just been indicated. The fork 39, by moving, releases the journal 33. The pallet 10, no longer being attracted by the electromagnet 8, pivots around its axis 10 'under the action of the spring. 1.1, so that the journal 33 returns to its rest position, as a result of the thrust of the fork 30 on the stop 32.
Tree 53 is. supported by two plates 34 and 35. These plates are fixed on the shaft 36 and do. pivot the latter when the journal 33 being under the cam 37 is. pushed back by the profile 37 'of said cam.
A plate 44, fixed on the shaft 36, supports, with the plate 35, a rod 43. The plate 44 is. requested by a spring 45 fixed on the. rod 43, so that the plate 44 rests against a fixed stop 46.
Two cams 54 and 55 (see fig. 2) are respectively placed opposite the slice of the circular plates 47 and 48. They are mounted idle on the shaft 56. Normally, the trajectories of the indexes 51 and 52 do not allow to these to drive the cams 54 and 55. However, if the. rod 43, by moving away from the plates 35 and 44 would pivot, slightly pivot the cams 54 and 55, these will then come into the paths of the indexes 51 and 52, and one of them can be find driven by the corresponding index.
A lever 61, made of insulating material, is also mounted idle on the shaft 56. It has a recess 60 and is provided with a finger 62 which can cooperate with the cam 54. The cam 55 has a finger 57 which can push the upper part of the flexible blade 58 to the right of fig. 2, which separates this blade from the blade 59. 58 and 59 respectively have contacts 64 and 64 'which, when they press one on the other, close the control circuit 63.
In a rest position of the relay, the blade 58 rests on the recess 60 of the lever 61, and the control circuit 63 is open. During operation of the relay, the cam 54, driven by the index 51, raises the lever 61 by means of its finger 62, so that the. blade 58 escapes from said lever and the contacts 64-64 'close., which causes the establishment. of a current in the control circuit 63.
When the cam 55 is driven by the index 52, it pushes the blade 58 back, by its finger. 57, which causes the opening of the contacts 64-64 '. The blade 58 continues to be pushed back until its upper part hooks onto the recess 60 of the lever 61, so that the contacts 64--64 'remain open, even when the index 52, having escaped from cam 55, the latter returns to its starting position.
The operation of the receiver relay described above is as follows: If a musical frequency pulse corresponding to the tuning frequency of the vibrating plate 2 and of the circuit 3-4 is emitted, said plate 2 vibrates, of so that the 5'-6 contact is practically open. The coil 8 'of the electromagnet 8 ceases to be shorted and is. excited by the voltage at terminals 1-1 '. The pallet 10 is attracted, so that the insulating arm 12 of the. pallet 10 releases the elastic blade 13 which presses on the elastic blade 14.
The supply circuit of the synchronous motor 15 is then closed. Furthermore, the fork 30, located at the upper part of the pallet 10, pushes the stop 31 and, consequently, pushes the journal 33 against the cam 37. The latter, on starting, occupies the position shown in the figure. , so that the journal 33 abuts against the side wall of the cam 37. The synchronous motor 15 starts to turn - I1 drives, via the pinions 1.6-17-24 --- 25, the cam 22. The latter, which performs a complete rotation in a short period corresponding to the minimum separating time. two execution impulses, push the finger 27 of the angled lever 26.
The latter pivots around the axis 28 and, by its finger. 29, move to the right of fig. 1 the two elastic blades 13 and 14 still in contact. The movement of these two blades allows, on the one hand, the arm 12 to resume its original position under the blade 13, when the musical frequency pulse having. ceased, the armature 10 is not attracted by the electromagnet 8 and, on the other hand, to leave the synchronous motor 15 under voltage.
The synchronous motor also drives, via the gears 16-17-19-20, the cam 23 which, also acting on the angled lever 26, maintains contact between the blades 13 and 14 for the duration of the operation. one complete revolution of axis 21.
During the. revolution of axis 21, a second pulse is transmitted (execution pulse). If during. the time interval which elapses between the first and the second pulse, the cam 37 has performed an integer number of revolution or, in other words, if this time interval corresponds to an even multiple of the elementary time defined before cédemment, this second pulse will have no effect, because the journal 33 abuts against the side wall of the cam 37 without being able to pass to the other side of the latter.
If, on the contrary, the time interval. between the first and the second pulse corresponds to an odd number of half-revolutions of the cam 37 (i.e. if this time interval corresponds to an odd multiple of the elementary time), the journal 33 passes under the cam 37. The journal 33 is held in this position after the end of the second pulse by the spout 40 of the fork 39. Indeed, this fork, biased by the spring 42, has tilted as soon as the journal 33 is in outside said range.
The lon 33 turret is. then pushed by the disengagement profile 37 'of the cam 37, which causes the shaft 36, integral with the shaft 53, to pivot and (read the journal 33 by means of the plates 31 and 35. This movement of pivoting causes the displacement of the rod 43, which slightly rotates the cams 54 and 55, so that they are thus brought into the path of the indexes 51 and 52 respectively integral with the eireulaires plates 47 and -18. Ci, fixed on the shaft 29, are, in fact, driven in a key rotation movement by the synchronous motor 15.
If, at the time of this second pulse, one of these indexes, for example the index 52, is in front of the cam 55, the latter, which has already been slightly driven by the displacement of the rod 43, continues to be driven by the rotational movement of the index 52 even if the rod 43 has returned to its previous position after a complete rotation of the cam 37.
During the. rotation of the cam 37, the finger 38 of this cam pushes the nose 41 of the fork 39, so that the journal 33 is released. This one returns, in his. rest position, as a result of the thrust exerted on the stop 32, by the. fork 30 of the pallet 10, when the latter is no longer attracted by the electromagnet. 8, is only loaded by the spring. 1.1.
La, cam 55, continuing. its rotation, driven by the index 52, moves the contact blade 58 away from the contact blade 59 by its finger 57. The upper end of the blade 58 hooks onto the recess 60 of the insulating lever. 61.
Index 52, continuing. its rotational movement lets the cam 55 escape which then comes back into its. rest position.
When the cam 23 has made a complete revolution, the elbow lever 26 returns to its starting position. The elastic blade 1-1, which rests on the finger 29 of the angled lever 26, separates from the blade 13 which rests on the arm 12 of the pallet 10, so that the eircuit of the synchronous motor 15 s' opens and it stops. The receiving relay can have any number of circular platters such as 47 and -18 and cams such as 54 and 55. This number, in each relay, should. correspond to the number of maneuvers or signals that you want to be controlled remotely with the same relay.
The excitation device of the electromagnet. start-up of the receiving relay can be carried out according to the variant shown in fig. 3.
In this figure, only the components essential to understanding the operation of this excitation device have been shown as an element of the receiving relay.
We see in 1-l 'of them terminals of a distribution network. 2 represents the vibrating blade mechanically tuned to the musical frequency of the remote control superimposed on the network, 3 represents the excitation winding of the. vibrating blade connected in series with a capacitor 4, this constituent assembly, as already has. been indicated, a resonant circuit tuned to the musical frequency of emission. The vibrating blade 2 is placed in the field of a permanent magnet 7. This vibrating blade has, at its free end, a pawl 101 which serves to drag therefrom, in the example shown, a ratchet wheel 1.02.
It is also possible to use a smooth wheel, without toothing, including. the outer part attacked by the pawl is made of natural or synthetic rubber.
The wheel 102 is mounted on a hollow shaft 109 which can rotate between two plates 110 and 111.
Two bent levers 103 and 104 can respectively pivot on two parts 105 and 106 fixed on the wheel 102. These two parts are on the same diameter and at an equal distance from the center of the wheel. The levers 103 and 104 carry respectively, at one of their ends, the weights 107 and 108, the masses of which are preferably equal. By their other free end, these levers press on mid finger 112 which small slide in an axial slot 113 of the hollow shaft 109. A spring 114, one of its ends of which presses on the bearing surface 115 of the shaft 109, pushes in permanently the finger 112 against the bent levers 103 and 104.
Finger. 112 is integral with a rod 116 sliding inside the hollow shaft 109. 117 is a flexible contact which, when pushed by the rod 116, comes to rest on the contact 118, thus causing the contact. excitement of the. coil 8 'of the electromagnet 8 for starting up the receiving relay described in the main patent.
When the vibrating blade 2 is stationary, the contacts 117 and 118 are open. When a musical frequency pulse corresponding to the tuning frequency of the vibrating blade and its excitation circuit is emitted, the blade 2 starts to vibrate and, through the pawl 101, causes the rotation of the wheel 102. Under the action of the. cen trifuge force, the weights 107 and 108 move away from their rest position, and the bent levers 103 and 104 which carry them push the finger 112. Under these conditions, the rod 116 pushes. in turn the contact 117 until the closing of the contacts 117-118, which causes the excitation of the coil 8 'of the electromagnet 8 and.
the starting of the receiver relay.
