Dispositif d'accouplement.
Coupling device. There are devices, for example calculating machines, automatic telegraph and telephone devices, deciphering machines, etc., in which certain rotating members must be able to be either coupled to each other or stopped in the process. a minimum time and in very different relative angular positions, varying from case to case in case of coupling.
The object of the present invention is a coupling device comprising a rotating conductive part to which at least one coaxial conduit part is able to be coupled in one of a number of positions, by means of 'at least one coupling member influenced by springs.
This device is characterized in that it comprises, for the charging of said springs, an arming device which, provided that all these springs have acted since the last coupling took place and are relaxed, is actuated by a member of an external device during the next passage of one of the parts through a predetermined mined position, and that means are provided for temporarily retaining the coupling member and a member of the cocking device, for the then release one by one, at the time of coupling or uncoupling determined by said external device, thanks to the sudden actuation, carried out by the spells, of the members which were temporarily retained,
the sequence of movements always being the same in the mechanism comprising the coupling member, the springs and the positive cocking device.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the coupling device which is the subject of the invention.
Only what is necessary for understanding the invention is shown of these examples. In particular, the driving members and those which are influenced by the different positions of the parts of the couplings shown are not shown in the drawing.
Fig. 1 is a view in. plan of the first embodiment, the members being shown in the so-called starting position.
Figs. 2, 3 and 4 are views analogous to the first, in which however the members occupy different positions.
Fig. 5 is a side elevational view of certain parts of the coupling device, some of which are shown in section.
Figs. 6, 7 and 8 show relative positions of coupling members to which reference will be made later.
Fig. 9 shows a lever seen from the side. Fig. 10 is an electrical diagram of the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 9.
Fig. 11 is the electrical diagram of a similar embodiment, but offering other possibilities.
Figs. 1211, 12 "and 12 are diagrams of the different possible positions of the coupling members. Figures 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 relate to a second embodiment, the electrical diagram of which is shown in figure 18. .
Referring to Figs. 1 to 8, 1 designates a disc which is here the conductive part of the coupling. It has in its center a drilling which allows to thread it on an axis 2 by means of which this disc is. driven and on which, depending on the case, one or more coupling devices, such as the one which is. described here, are placed next to each other.
The disc 1 (see fig. 5 and 6) has at its periphery teeth 3 separated by indentations 4 which correspond, in size and number, to other indentations 5 provided on the inner peripheral surface of a toothed ring. 6. This ring gear and a disc 75 which is integral with it here constitute one of the driven parts of the coupling. The driving of the driven part by the conductive part takes place by means of studs, one external 7 and the other internal 8, both having a flat part where they bear against each other. These studs 7 and 8 have exactly the width of the indentations 4 and 5 and can take different relative positions which are shown in FIGS. 6, 7 and 8.
These positions correspond to. mating the. conductive part, either. the disc 1 with the driven parts, or the toothed ring 6 and a plate 9. This coupling, respectively the uncoupling, is obtained by means of a control mechanism carried by this plate 9 which has a central sleeve by means of of which it is mounted coaxially with the conductive part. The plate 9 and the disc 75 which carries the crown 6 therefore turn idle on axis 2.
The control mechanism by means of which the studs 7 and 8 are placed in their different positions comprises a cocking lever 10 which can oscillate around a pivot 11, planted in the plate. This rocker 10 has a leg 12 ending in a point 13; it also has an extension 14 to which are hooked two springs 15 and 16. The first, 15, is fixed by its other end to a pin 17, planted in the plate, while the second, 16, is, hitched to one the ends of a coupling lever 18 pivot around an axis 19, also fixed in the plate. The end. of this coupling lever 18, opposite to that where the res out 16 is coupled, is shown in section in FIG. 5. This tip. rocker has a head 20 projecting laterally.
In this head or come manufacturing with it is the internal stud 8 which is therefore integral with this coupling lever. The effect of the spring 16, which is slightly tensioned, presses, in the starting or resting position shown in fig. 1, this inner pin 8, by its flat part, on the outer pin 7 which itself is integral with the outer coupling lever 21. The latter also oscillates around the axis 19 and extends below the pivot 11 with a goal that will be seen later. This external coupling lever 21 also has a nose 22 which cooperates with a stop 23 provided on the anchor 24 of the electromagnet 25.
A spring 26 tends to maintain this anchor in the position shown in the. fig. 1, that is to say away from the poles of the electromagnet.
Another rocker 27 can also oscillate around the axis 19. It has, at one of its ends, a foot 28 which, under the action of a spring 29, bears by a flat face on the heads 20. ac coupling flip-flops 18 and 21, as shown in FIG. 1.
Axis 19 also serves as a point. of pivoting for an angled lever 30, one of the arms 31 of which receives the thrust of a leaf spring 32 held by hand on the plate by an ankle 33 and bandaged by a hook. 34 provided at the end of an arm 35 that the cocking lever 10 has at its upper part.
Around the pivot 17_ of the weapon lever can also oscillate a pusher 36 which carries at its end a pivot 37 for a stop lever 38. The latter extends over the surface of the cocking lever, for enter between the ends of the angled lever 30 and the rocker 27, as shown in fig. 1. It is maintained in this position by the tension of the spring 32 and this against the action of a spring 39, attached to the plate 9 and whose action is weaker than that of the spring 32. Despite the presence of this spring 39, the parts retain the relative positions they have in FIG. 1 as long as other forces are not involved.
The stop lever 38 has, at its lower part, a shoulder 40 which can be seen in particular in FIG. 9 and which, when the pusher 36 is stopped on the pin 60 fixed in the plate, rests on a boss 41 of the weapon lever 10.
The plate 9 also carries a second electromagnet 42, the anchor 43 of which is under the effect of a spring 44 tending to move it away from the poles of the electromagnet.
On the same plate is fixed the foot of a contactor 45 carrying four blades, 61, 62, 63, 64, by means of which an electric current, coming from the outside by means which will be described later, is directed later. on the coil of the electromagnet 25, sometimes on that of the electromagnet 42, depending on whether the contacts of these strips are closed in one direction or the other by levers 46, respectively 47, which cooperate , the first with the coupling lever 18, the second with the foot 28 of the lever 27.
The operation of these contacts and their respective role is explained below with reference to FIG. 10 which is an electrical diagram of the various connections provided inside the device.
The plate 9 carries a brush 66 in electrical communication with the coil of the electromagnet 2.5 which is electrically connected with the blade 61 of the contactor 45.
This brush, when the plate rotates, rubs on contacts 67 arranged around this plate and corresponding, as number and angular positions to the indentations 4 and 5 of the pipe part and of the conductor part. Each time the brush 66 touches one of the contacts 67, the aforementioned indentations are located vis-à-vis each other.
The contacts 67 can be energized by means of switches 68 connected to one of the poles of a current source 69, the other pole of which is to the earth of the apparatus on which the device is mounted. coupling.
The plate 9 also comprises a ring 70, electrically isolated from the ground, and on which rubs a brush 71 connected to a switch 73, itself electrically connected to the current source 69. The ring 70 is in communication. electric with the coil of the electromagnet 42, the other end of which is connected to the strip 63.
It emerges from this diagram of FIG. 10 that each time the brush 66 passes over one of the contacts 67, the electromagnet 25 will be energized provided that the blade 61 is grounded by the blade 62. This depends first of all on the position of the lever 47 which causes this earthing and then the position of the lever 46 which, later, while partially completing the circuit of the electromagnet 42 by pressing the blades 64 and 63 one on the other, also for the task of separating the slats 61, 62 by means of the insulated pusher 76. In this position of the lever 46, the electromagnet 42 can be energized by means of the switch 73 and this independently of the position or of the stop of the turntable.
The device shown in FIGS. 1 to 12 works as follows: In the starting or rest position, the parts of the mechanism occupy the relative positions which are shown in fig. 1. The springs 15, 16, 29 and 39 are slightly stretched, so that the leg 12 of the rocker 10 presses against the stop 48 and the tip of this leg is above the stop 49 of the anchor 43. The studs 7 and 8 are pressed against each other by the effect of the spring 16 acting on the coupling lever 18 which presses the internal stud 8 on the external stud 7 and supports the whole, by the 'intermediate of the nose 22, on the stop 23 of the anchor 24.
The two studs, in this position, are both hole in an indentation 4 of the disc 1 (see fig. 6). When the latter rotates, it therefore drives the plate alone with it and the latter brings the boss 57 of the pusher 36 in front of a stop 56 fixed to the device where the coupling device is mounted on each turn. The first meeting of these two organs arms the mechanism.
The cooperation of this stop 56 and this boss 57 causes the pusher 36 to oscillate around the pivot 11 and press the end of the shoulder 40 against the boss 41 of the. cocking lever 10 to make the latter dextrorsum oscillate until the point 13 of the leg 12 has passed the stop 49 of the anchor 43 to allow the latter to be, under the effect of the spring 44, to take the position which is shown in fig. 2. At this moment, the spring 15 is even more tensioned and the spring 16 further presses the inner stud 8 on the outer stud 7.
The end 58 of the cocking lever 10 a, during the oscillation of the latter, pushes the lever 27 again to separate the foot 28 from the heads of the levers 18 and 21, in order to allow their subsequent movement. In doing so, this foot 28 raised the lever 47 and closed the contact between the blades 61 and 62 so that the. first pulse received by the brush 66 is transmitted to the coil of the electromagnet 25 whose anchor is attracted to allow the nose 22 to pass through. Under the action of the res out 16, the coupling lever 18 acts via the inner stud 8 on the outer stud 7, so that the head of the coupling lever 18 abuts against the flat surface of the foot 28.
The tilting of the lever 21 a. brought her. tail to act on the stop lever 38 to slide it along the boss 41 and introduce it into an adjacent notch of the cocking lever 10, that is to say in the place it occupies Fi nally,-. 3. The end of the stop lever 38 a acts on the elbow lever 30 and loads the spring 32 which, when the effect of the coupling lever 21 ceases, will return the stop lever 38 to the position shown. in fig. 1.
In this position of figs. 3 and 4, the periodic passages of the boss 57 vis-à-vis the outer stop 56 will not. no longer any effect on the arming lever, even though the pusher 36 has returned to its initial position (FIG. 3).
In this relative position of the members of the mechanism, the coupling pins 7 and 8 have passed from the position shown in FIG. 6 in that shown in fig. 7, so that the conductive part which, in the first position of the studs, led the plate, then turns at. empty, while the plate and the members it carries are coupled to the outer ring which is here carried by a disc 75 (see fig. 5) coaxial with axis 2, but held momentarily. fixed by means which are not shown, for example by a device with a spring taking in the notches of the. periphery of this say that 75.
The dextrorsal movement of the coupling lever 18 caused its boss to act under one of the ends of the lever 46 and the latter closed the contact. between the slats 63 and 64 and, by means of the. isolated mechanical relation (pusher 76) existing between the blades 64 and 61, opens the circuit of the electromagnet 25. When the switch 73 closes, the circuit of the current source. 69 is completed by the brush 71. and the ring 70 on the coil of the electromagnet 42. The anchor 43 is. attracted and the effect of the spring 15 causes the lever arm 10 in the. position shown in fie. 4. The senestrorsum movement of this lever 10 is communicated to the lower arm of the coupling lever 18 by means of the stop 59.
The first effect of this is to separate the two studs 7 and 8 to bring them into the position they occupy in FIG. 8, and, subsequently, to couple both the plate 9 and the ring gear 6 and the disc 75 to the conductive part 1. which then drives the whole. The movement of the coupling rocker 18 also had the effect of reversing the lever 46, that is to say the opening of the circuit of the electromagnet 42 and the. closure of that of the electro-magnet. 25. That is. the relative position of the parts shown in fig. 4.
The next encounter of the brush 66 with one of the contacts 67 causes the excitation of the electromagnet 25; the anchor 24 is attracted and the stop 23 releases the nose 22 of the coupling lever 21 so that the whole can resume the position which is shown in FIG. 1, where the plate alone is in a mechanical driving relationship with the conductive part. The bos sage 57 of the pusher 36 is again in the field of action of the stop 56, so that at the first encounter, the mechanism is armed again.
The play of the components can be repeated at will at the rate given by the closing of the contacts.
In all that has just been described, we started from position III (see fig. 123), that is to say from that which the pins 7 and 8 have in fig. 5 and 6 and where the plate 9 is coupled to the conductive part 1. We then go to the position of the studs shown in FIG. 7 (position I) where the turntable is coupled with the disk 75. If the latter is stationary, the turntable will be too. Next comes the position of FIG. 8 (position II), in which the plate is coupled both with the conductive part and with the disc 75.
The sequence of positions which has been described has therefore always been: III, loading, I, II, III; it is shown in fig. 123. In practice, however, position I will be that of the start or stop of the device. We will therefore have the following positions: I, II, III, loading I. However, there are cases where position II must be avoided and where it is necessary to go directly from I to III, as shown in fig. 12 ". For this purpose, a second ring 77 will be provided, which can be seen in fig. 11. The reference signs are the same as those given in fig. 10.
It can be seen that, in position I, the contacts 61 and 62 being open and the contacts 63 and 64 closed, it is possible, by means of a second switch 74 in connection with the brush 78 which rubs on the ring 77, to activate the two relays 25 and 42 at the same time. This will have the effect of immediately causing the spring 29 to act on the lever 27 and the stop 59 on the lever 18 to bring the studs 7 and 8 at the same time into position III. Loading can be done subsequently, as described above.
It is quite natural that, by means of other combinations, of electrical contacts and (the levers, such as 46 and 47, allowing inter alia the short-circuiting of the contacts 61, 62 or 63, 64, or the setting in series of said, it is possible, if the need arises, to make a combination which would make it possible to pass from position III to position II, then to position III by excluding position I, as shown in fig. 12.
Figs. 13 to 18 relate to a second embodiment of the object of the invention. It differs from the first by the fact that it has only one stud 53 fixed to the coupling lever 18 and that, consequently, it does not allow all the coupling possibilities of the previous form. .
In this control mechanism, we find the arming lever 10 which oscillates around the pivot 11, the aforementioned coupling lever 18 which rotates around the axis 19, the electromagnets 25 and 42 with their respective anchors 24 and 43, as well as the lever 46 for controlling the contacts 82 and 83.
The coil of the electromagnet 25 is also joined to a brush 66 which rubs on contacts 67 energized by switches 68. On the periphery of the device is also placed an external stop 56, but this acts directly on the arming lever 10 which has an arm 54 for this purpose.
In the position shown in fig. 13, the device is not armed. The stud 53 is in an indentation of the conductive part. The plate 9, on which are also mounted here all the members of the mechanism, having turned by a certain angle and the arm 54 having met the stop 56, the leg 12 has passed over the stop 49 of the anchor 43 and took the position shown in fig. 14. In this, the spells 15 and 16 are armed and the stop 59 has moved away from the inner end of the coupling lever 18.
The nose 22 of the latter then presses against the stop 23 of the anchor 24, so that when the electromagnet 25 receives current through the brush 66 and given that in this position the contact 82 is closed, the anchor 24 is attracted and spring 16 can act to bring latch 18 to the position shown in FIG. 15. The coupling pin 53 has then passed from one of the indentations of the disc 1, therefore from the conductive part, into one of the indentations of the disc 75; this being fixed, the plate is stopped in the position it had when the relay was energized.
When by means of a ring 70, connected to the electromagnet 42 and which can be switched on by means of a switch 73, the electromagnet 42 is energized, its anchor is attracted, the cocking rocker is released and, the effect of spring 15 being felt, it moves senestrorsum; the stop 59 then acts on the coupling lever 18 to give it the same movement and, passing over the anchor of the magnet 25, make the coupling pin 53 enter one of the indentations of the conductive part The movement of the latter is then communicated to the plate for purposes which may be various, depending on the device to which the device belongs.
In fig. 18, the diagram of this device is shown. It can be seen that the brush 66 can come into contact successively on the contacts 67 connected to the terminals of the switches 68 and that at this moment, the circuit of the current source 69 is closed on the electromagnet 25. A l 'stopping the plate and closing the switch 73, current is sent to the electromagnet 42 for the purpose which has been described above.
