transparent movable disc pendulum. The present invention relates to a pendulum with transparent movable discs, each provided with a mark and replacing the usual hands.
According to the invention, each of these discs is mounted idle on its driving pivot which it is only secured in rotation by means of a catch; each disc is guided with a certain clearance by its edge situated in the vicinity of a circular frame in which bearing shoulders are formed.
The following description is. made with reference to the accompanying drawing, given by way of example and showing an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows, in vertical and axial section, a device for mounting and driving transparent movable discs on a clock.
Fig. 2 is a front view of a fixed disc.
Fig. 3 is a front view of the movable minute indicator disc.
Fig. 4 is a front view of the hour indicator disc.
Fig. 5 is a front view of the pen dulette shown in section in FIG. 1.
Fig. 6 is a front view of the domed wall which forms the bottom of the dial.
The case of the clock is constituted by a frustoconical wall 1, the large base of which is open and the small base of which supports a clock movement, represented only in a schematic manner by the outline 2 in phantom lines.
The axis of the case coinciding with that of the road is inclined relative to the supporting plane of the clock.
The case 1 is applied by a lip 4 against a cover 6 which at the same time forms the bottom of the dial and which is pierced with a central hole 6b around which a thin circular line 6a is drawn or printed on the concave face of said cover 6; the lip 4 of the housing 1 and the lip 7 of the cover 6 are provided with coincident perforations through which screws 11 pass; the lips 4 and 7, of the same diameter, are embedded in a circular housing 5 of a ring 3 and tightened by screws 11 passing through said ring 3.
The ring 3 has at its lower part threaded perforations into which penetrate screws 12 which pass through corresponding perforations made in a foot 10, to ensure the stable maintenance of the clock on said foot.
The convexity of the cover 6 is directed towards the inside of the housing -1.
The roadway 13 is constituted by a blind socket threaded on the center axis 13a which is driven by the clockwork movement 2. On this roadway 13 is driven a knock 15 to # i1 14. The bent branch of the knock 15 is engaged in a perforation 16 of a transparent disc 17, pierced in its center with a hole 18 for the free passage of the roadway 13.
This disc 17 is of a diameter such that its edge 17a moves in the vicinity of the wall 19 of a circular recess made in the ring 3 and of an equally circular shoulder 19a. The . disc 17 rests on the roadway 13 and on the plug 14 which drives it in rotation and is capable of being guided by its edge on the shoulder 19a.
The flat and transparent disc 17 has in the vicinity of its center a circular line 20, the diameter of which is slightly smaller than that of the line 6a, but which is slightly thicker. The disc 17 also bears a mark 21 provided with an indicator tip used for indicating the minutes.
On the roadway 13 is threaded in the usual way a cannon wheel 23 of which only the cannon has been shown in FIG. 1. This barrel is provided with a shoulder on which is driven a toc 25 to # i1 24, comprising two symmetrical drive fingers which support. and result in a transparent and flat disc 26. This disc comprises a central perforation 27 which the shoulder of the barrel wheel 23 freely passes through and two eccentric perforations 28 which pass through the folded branches of the plug 25.
By its edge, the disc 26 is inserted into a circular housing 9 of the ring 3 limited towards the front by a shoulder 9ca and towards the rear by the neck 6. The guidance of the disc 26 is therefore ensured in a manner. analogous to the guiding of the disc 17, with a certain play on its edge.
The dimensions of the perforation 27 and of its extensions 28 are such that the disc 26 can freely pass over the toc 15.
The disc 26 has in the vicinity of its center a circular line 29 of intermediate diameter between that of the line 20 and that of the line 6a and also of intermediate thickness. This disc 26 is also provided with a distinctive sign 30 which serves as an hour indicator.
A flat and transparent disc 31 is embedded in a circular recess 32 made in the front edge of the ring 3. This disc 31 is held in the recess 32 by a ring 33 embedded in a recess 34 of the front face of the ring 3, this ring 33 comprising threaded perforations into which the ends of the screws 11 are screwed, the latter passing through the ring 3 through smooth perforations. The disc 31 has in the vicinity of its center a circular line 35 whose diameter is smaller than that of the line 20, but whose thickness is greater than that of the latter.
In the center of the line 35, the disc 31 comprises an opaque, circular cover 36 in which appears a crescent of blade 37 also opaque but, for example, gold, while the remainder of the cover 36 is black or dark blue. The visible wall of the cover 6 is of a deep blue, for example, and comprises a seedling of golden stars, a seedling of stars that can also be found on the discs 17, 26 and 31.
The distinctive sign for the minutes is formed by a golden comet affixed to the disc 17, and the distinctive sign for the hours, 30, is formed, for example, by a representation of the planet Saturn and its ring.
The ring 33 bears the signs and figures which allow the minutes and hours to be marked. It forms a sort of surrounding wheel - a stylized representation of a celestial vault. The central cover 36 prevents the view of the pivots, and the colors and the curvature of the cover 6 give the illusion of great depth, reinforced by the arrangement of the successive circular lines 36, 20, 29 and 6a, as well as by the seedlings of stars at different levels.
The safety of the fixing of the movable discs by the tocs simply driven out on the barrel wheel and on the roadway prevents the breakage of the gear wheels which could cause the inertia of the discs if they were rigidly fixed to the pivots.
