Process for the production of a monoazo dye containing ore. It has been found that a new, valuable chromium-containing monoazo dye is obtained if one uses an ionoazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0007
chromium-releasing agents can act under conditions in which the alkyl group of the -0-alk, # -l radical in the o-position for the azo group is split off.
The new dye is a dark-colored substance which dissolves in blue water in dilute alkali metal hydroxide solutions with violet and in concentrated sulfuric acid with dichroic red-blue color and in full dissolving acidic bath in real, very colors even, pure blue tones, which show practically the same hue in artificial light as in daylight.
The ionoazo dyes corresponding to the above formula and which serve as starting materials in the present processes can be prepared by combining a diazotized 2-alkoxy-5-niethoxy-1-aminobenzol-4-sulfonic acid ethylamide with @ 1-oxynaphthalene-3,8-disulfonic acid .
The alkoxy group in the \? Position of the diazo component preferably contains only a few, for example 1 to 4, carbon atoms. The monoazo dye obtainable from diazotized 2,5-dimethoxy-1-aminobenzene-4-sulfonic acid ethylamide proves to be a particularly two-way starting material for the present process.
The diazotization of the 2-alkoxy-5-metlioxy- 1-aminobenzene-4-sulfonsätireäthy lamids can in a conventional manner known per se, for. B. with the help of sodium nitrite and hydrochloric acid. The coupling of the diazo compound with the 1-oxynaphthalene-3,8-disulfonic acid takes place in an alkaline medium.
If necessary, the coupling can also be carried out in the presence of suitable solvents, such as alcohol or pyridine.
The monoazo dyes used as starting materials in the present process can, if desired, be isolated from the coupling mixture and freed from impurities. In general, however, the coupling compound can be used in its entirety and without intermediate deposition for treatment with the metal donating agents. As a rule, it is necessary here to bring the coupling mixture to the pH value which is favorable for this reaction, i.e., before the reaction with the metal donating agent is carried out. H. adjust to weak mineral acid reaction.
In the present process, the salts of trivalent chromium such as chromium fluoride, chromium sulfates, chromium acetate and chromium formate can be considered as chromium-releasing agents. The treatment with the chromium-releasing agents takes place under conditions under which the alkyl radical of the -0-alkyl group in the o-position to the azo group is split off.
This cleavage with simultaneous formation of the complex Chromver connection can be carried out according to a method known per se by treating with the chromium-releasing agent, for example with chromium formate or chromium sulfate in an aqueous, preferably mineral acidic medium under pressure at elevated temperature, for Example temperatures between 1100 and 1400 C.
In the following example the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
Example. 2G parts, 2,5-dimethoxy-1-aminobenzene-4-snl- fonsäu r e-ethy lamide are diazotized in the usual way in the presence of hydrochloric acid with sodium nitrite. The diazo compound is allowed to flow into an alkaline solution, cooled to 10, of 33 parts of 1-oxynaphthalene-3,8-disulfonic acid in 400 parts of water, which contains an excess of sodium carbonate, with stirring.
The resulting dye can be deposited and filtered off by adding sodium chloride. When dried, it is a burgundy red substance that dissolves in a dilute sodium carbonate solution with red and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a blue color and dyes wool from an acid bath in red tones.
This dye can, advantageously without prior drying, be converted into the complex chromium compound. For this purpose, the dyestuff paste obtained according to the above information is stirred with 1000 parts of hot water and 10% sulfuric acid is added until it has a weak mineral acid reaction.
After adding an amount of chromium sulfate Cr2 (S0.1) containing 5.7 parts of Cr, the reaction mixture is heated to 125 to 1300 in the leaded stirred autoclave and stirred at this temperature for 20 hours. The complex chromium compound is separated out by adding sodium chloride and filtered off after cooling.
