Process for the preparation of an optical brightening agent. Subject of the present patent is. a method of making an optical brightening agent. The process is characterized by the fact that -1-nitro-4 -'-amino-stilbene-2,2'-disulfonic saturation, a diazotizing agent, cinnamic acid, an agent for reducing the nitro group to the amino group and a benzoyl radical introductory connection can act on each other.
The new lightening agent obtained, 4, benzovlamino-4'-styrpl-stilbene-2,2'-disulphonic acid, is a greenish yellow powder which is suitable for lightening textile materials and especially as an additive to washing liquors.
Example: 24 parts of cinnamic acid and 60 parts of crystalline. Sodium acetate earths dissolved in 200 parts of glacial acetic acid and 12 parts of copper (II) chloride were added immediately before the addition of the diazo compound.
At 80, the biazo compound prepared and isolated from -10 parts of 4-nitro-4'-aminothilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid in the presence of 21 parts of ss-naphthalenesulfonic acid is introduced into the above solution with thorough stirring, with The Meerweinsehe reaction begins with the elimination of nitrogen and carbonic acid. As well as no more diazo compounds can be detected. can, -18 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid and 800 parts of water are allowed to run in at 80.
It's going to be around. 35 to 42 left to cool and filtered off from cinnamic acid which has not reacted. The 4-nitro-4'-styrenic-stilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid is separated from the filtrate by adding 20% by volume of common salt. The red-brown product is iso lated, the disodium salt umkri crystallized from water and then the nitro group by one of the usual methods, eg.
B. in alkaline solution with sodium sulfide, for -1- amino - 4! - stvrvl-stilbene - 2,2'-disulfonic acid reduced.
45.7 parts of this 4-amino-4'-styryl-stilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid are reacted in aqueous solution at about 35 to 45 with 17 parts of benzoyl chloride. As soon as no more diazotizable amine can be added, the 4-benzoylamino-4'-stpryl-stilbene-2,2'-disulphonic acid is salted out, isolated and dried.
The compound represents a greenish yellow powder that is suitable for lightening various textile materials and especially as an additive to washing liquors.
