Automatic folding and wrapping machine.
The present invention relates to an automatic folding and wrapping machine, which is characterized in that it comprises an auxiliary frame, mounted to pivot on the fixed main frame and carrying members controlled from a blade shaft of the main frame, when the auxiliary frame is in the working position, and in that the transmission of movement from the shaft to. cams to the moving parts of the auxiliary frame is effected by means of at least one pusher carried by the main frame and with which cooperates, when the auxiliary frame is in the working position, at least one transmission member carried by the latter built.
The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, one embodiment of the machine which is the subject of the invention.
IVF 1 is a partial view in 616vation,
link 2 a corresponding plan view, and
fiv. 3 is a detail view in elevation, on a larger scale.
The machine shown comprises a main frame 1 and an auxiliary frame 2 mounted a. pivot in 3 on the first. The main frame 1 is fixed, while the auxiliary frame can oscillate between the position shown in solid lines, which is its working position, and the position shown in phantom, which is its inoperative position. This auxiliary frame, in the example shown, supports a reel 4 of wrapping paper and a member 5 oscillating about an axis 6 and serving to adjust the step by step advance of the strip coming from this reel, under the control of photoelectric cell means, not shown. This auxiliary frame also supports scissors 7 cutting the strip in sections.
The oscillating member 5 is actuated from a camshaft of the main frame, by means which will be described later. The scissors 7 are actuated in a similar manner from the same camshaft.
A lever 8 enables the auxiliary frame 2 to be locked in the working position on the main frame. In the inoperative position, this auxiliary frame is completely disengaged from the main frame and allows easy cleaning of the latter.
In order to avoid any disassembly and reassembly operation when the auxiliary frame is passed from one of the positions shown to the other, the transmission of the movement of the camshaft to the moving parts such as 5 or the scissors is carried out by means of pushers. For simplicity, only a pusher 9 is shown carried by the main frame 1 and projecting slightly from the latter, as can be seen in the fi-. 1 and 3, where the auxiliary frame 'comes to rest against the main frame.
This pusher is actuated by means of a lever mechanism 10, operating with the camshaft shown.
The auxiliary frame carries a transmission member 11 constituted by a sliding rod, the end of which abuts against the end of the pusher 9, when the auxiliary frame is in the working position. Spring means urge the rod 11 to remain constantly applied against the pusher 9. It is clear that when the auxiliary frame is moved away from its working position, the transmission member 11 ceases to cooperate with the pusher without quitting. 'no disassembly operation is necessary. When, on the contrary, the auxiliary frame is brought back to the working position, the member 11 automatically co-operates again with the pusher 9, without any winding operation being required.
The spring means urging this member 11 ensure the correct cooperation of the members 9 and 11 as soon as the auxiliary frame is in the working position.
For controlling the scissors 7, means quite similar to the pusher 9 and to the rod 11 are also provided and have not been shown. The auxiliary frame could moreover comprise a series of movable members each receiving a discrete movement of the camshaft; in this case, for each command, there would be a separate push button acting on a transmission member such as 11, spring loaded.
Thanks to the arrangement described, we have the advantage of being able to proceed with the complete cleaning of the part of the machine which, in the usual constructions, is very difficult to access since all the folding and packaging members, which are small and fairly delicate, are located precisely at the place which must be particularly well cleaned.
