Process for producing a water-soluble organic nitrogen compound. The main patent describes a process for the production of water-soluble, organic nitrogen compounds, which consists in using compounds of the formula
EMI0001.0001
wherein R, a hydrogen atom or a low molecular weight organic radical, R, an aminoethyl or an optionally substituted aminoethyl or
Aminopropyl radical, R., an optionally substituted ethylene or propylene radical and R, hydrogen or one of the radicals as described under R and R, and cyanamide, its poly mers or its derivatives in the absence of water, optionally in the presence of N. -oni non-aqueous solvents, at he elevated temperature with the elimination of ammonia can act on each other.
It has now been shown that instead of the compounds mentioned, their carbonates can also be reacted with cyanamide, its polymers or its derivatives in the absence of water, if appropriate in the presence of non-aqueous solvents, at elevated temperature with elimination of ammonia .
The products obtained have properties similar to those described in the main patent. They can be used as such or in the form of their salts or with metal complex compounds to improve the fastness properties of dyeings with substantive dyes, for the production of pigments or for animalizing cellulosic fibers. They also have the property of precipitating acidic dyes from their aqueous solutions.
The present patent relates to a method for the production of a new water-soluble salt of an organic nitrogen compound, characterized in that the carbonate of diethvlentriamine is reacted with dicyandiamide in the absence of water at elevated temperature with elimination of ammonia, the product thus obtained in aqueous solution converted into the sulfuric acid salt and this dries.
The conversion of the basic condensation product in aqueous solution into the sulfuric acid salt can be carried out in various ways. Either the base is dissolved in water and neutralized with sulfuric acid of any concentration, or the anhydrous base is mixed with dilute sulfuric acid until it is neutral.
The new salt is a light-colored, water-soluble, non-hygroscopic powder which, as such or in the form of a water-soluble copper complex, is capable of improving the authenticity of dyes with nouns dyes.
Example: 66 g of diethylenetriamine carbonate, as is obtained in crystallized form when carbon dioxide is introduced into an alcoholic solution of diethylenetriamine, are melted and mixed with 33.6 g of dicyandiamide in a closed stirred vessel. It is then heated to 140-160 ° C. within 5 hours, the mass getting thicker and thicker until it can hardly be stirred at the end. It is allowed to cool and the solidified, vesicular product is pulverized.
The same is basic. 10 g of the base are suspended in 10 g of water with stirring and slowly neutralized with 7.6 g of 50% strength sulfuric acid, the neutralization temperature being prevented from rising above 50 ° C. by adding 5 g of ice. After everything has been entered, stirring is continued for half an hour, after which the mass is dried in the usual way. This gives a yellow-white, pulverizable mass which dissolves well in warm water.
