Cette came, qui est inter- suivant la longueur et le pas de filetage désirés, présente un profil compre nant: une première partie en hélice qui s'étend, selon que l'on veut obtenir un dépla cement plus ou moins rapide de l'outil, soit, par exemple, sur un angle d'environ 180 , soit, par exemple, sur un angle d'environ 240' et qui. correspond au travail de l'outil;
machine (fig.
Le profil ,de ces cames est tel que pendant le déplacement longitu dinal du chariot 105 commandé par la pre mière partie en hélice de la. came des pas 126 et qui correspond au travail de .l'outil, le le vier 134 reste immobile, l'outil restant à la même position d'avance transversale;
Threading machine to tool. The present invention a. for object a threading machine with the tool in which the longitudinal displacement of the tool holder: is controlled by a rotary cam which receives its rotational movement from, from a drive spindle of the piece to be threaded, landis The progressive transverse feed of the tool, after each pass, is controlled by another cam also driven in rotation from the. spindle, the various mechanisms being stopped automatically when the number of passes chosen to make I (# threading has been performed.
In machines of this current kind- nic # fit: known, the process of operations is, as has just been said, the same as that of my parallel turn, that is to say: first pass, release of the tool, rapid reverse, tool plunge for the next pass, second pass, etc., until finished.
However, the arrangement of the movable working organs and the maneuvering organs often differs quite appreciably from that which ,, t. adopted on h-s parallel lathes, which entails the need to train specialized personnel for the execution of the works, specialized for the execution of the works to which these machines lend themselves.
On the other hand, with said machines, it is generally not possible. to execute threads only at limited distances known as the nose of the driving spindle because the mechanisms which control the longitudinal displacements of the tool holder and the transverse feed of the tool are mounted on the frame of the machine in immediate proximity to the. spindle and stationary with respect to it.
One of the aims of the present invention is to provide a machine for threading with a tool of the aforementioned type, the analogy of which with a parallel turning is extended, not only to the process of operations, but also to the provision. .general of the frame and working components carried by it, in order to benefit, at the same time as the advantages of speed of execution, high efficiency and precision which .are inherent in threading machines of the type in question of the practical advantages of this general arrangement, established by long experience.
Another object of the invention is to provide a tool-based threading machine with which it is possible, as is the case on a parallel turn, to locate these threads at any points along the length of such parts.
The threading machine according to the invention is characterized in that carriages with longitudinal displacement and transverse displacement which support the tool holder as well as mechanisms for controlling the movements of these carriages,
for setting the number of passes and automatic stopping are mounted on a saddle capable of being moved and immobilized in any position chosen on a slide provided on a work bench forming part of a frame which comprises at one of its ends a frozen doll, in which are mounted the drive spindle of the workpiece, clutch and braking devices - and a harness:
reduction gears with -dispositif gear reverser, the various mechanisms carried by the lagger being connected to the graining harness and the braking device mounted .dans the headstock, by sliding key shafts allowing them .de. follow the longitudinal movements of the lagger on the frame while remaining integral with the rotational movements of said shafts.
In these conditions. to adapt the machine to the threading of parts of a given length and at an equally given distance from the nose of the spindle,, afterwards, it is sufficient. have released the saddle, move it on the machine bed to bring it to the position suitable for this work and which is determined by the position of the tool holder, then lock it again in this position .
In addition, it will be appreciated that the ability to move the saddle at will with the tool holder mounted on it gives the possibility of carrying out, under remarkable conditions, of ease of internal threads, even of great depth, the unlocking of the lagger at the end of the work allowing easy release of the tool.
The longitudinal displacement of the saddle can be controlled, for example, by means of a pinion carried by said saddle which engages with a rack or equivalent member integral with the bench, and the rotation of which is controlled by a steering wheel placed on the front. of the machine. The immobilization of the saddle in each of the positions which it is likely to occupy can be obtained by means of locking gibs bearing. Under the corresponding edges of the bench and whose clamping is ensured by the intermediary of rods with eccentrics controlled by a common shaft fitted with an operating lever also placed on the front of the machine.
On the saddle are advantageously mounted: a movable longitudinal carriage capable of moving parallel to the axis of the spindle, a movable transverse carriage carried by the longitudinal carriage and itself capable of moving perpendicular to the spindle. axis of the.
spindle, and a second transverse carriage carrying the tool-holder turret, fixed during work, but whose position can be adjusted, for example, by means of a micrometric setting: controlled by a button and a adjustable vernier. The longitudinal carriage can be guided along a double chamfered plate integral with the saddle, by means of several pairs of rollers, some of which can be adjustable in position, in order to allow any play to be taken up.
The mechanism controlling the movements of the longitudinal carriage, corresponding to the longitudinal movements of the tool ;, is preferably arranged inside the saddle. This mechanism may include an interchangeable cam, wedged on a -shaft connected in rotation to a shaft integral with the: last gear. Of the headstock and which ends in the lower part of the lagger, said cam acting on a roller carried by the longitudinal carriage, against the action of springs interposed between this carriage and the lagger.
The mechanism controlling the movements of the movable transverse carriage, corresponding to the movements of advance in depth, of gur and of the release of the tool, and the mechanisms. .de adjustment of the number of passes and automatic shutdown are advantageously mounted in an opening housing provided on the face of the saddle opposite the apron of the machine.
A lever carried by a transverse shaft which crosses the saddle and ends at the front of the machine where it carries a three-position operating lever, can be combined with these mechanisms to make it possible to determine, at will, either the stop. command of the machine, or the idling of the latter, the transverse feed mechanism of the tool then being triggered and only the control mechanism of the longitudinal displacements remaining in engagement with 'the c:
om.- command coming from the spindle, The machine can also include a tailstock, which is advantageously mounted on the saddle or: on the bed - so <<can be moved parallel to: the axis of the spindle, with a view to adjusting its position, and being immobilized in the. position chosen.
This tailstock advantageously comprises a movable point subjected to the action <a spring which tends to push it towards the piece to be threaded, a lever movable in two directions allowing, in one direction, to withdraw said point against the action of the spring and, dan :, the other direction, to bring this point back to: the part then, at the end of its travel, -of the. block vigorously against it, thus ensuring the rigidity necessary to maintain the. room.

The machine shown comprises (fig. 1, 2 and 3) a hollow frame in two parts 1 and 2 mounted on a base 3 and the upper part of which 1 forms the prlis @ matic sliding bench. This frame contains a drive motor 4 connected by belt 5 to the input shaft of a variable speed drive 6 through which it controls the various mechanisms.
1a. machine. On the bed 1 are mounted, on the one hand, a fixed tailstock 7 carrying the drive spindle 8 of the workpiece to be threaded and, on the other hand, a sag 9 fixed during work, but whose position longitudinal can be adjusted, this slider supporting the mobile tool holder 10 and enclosing.
the mechanisms intended to automatically control the movements of the latter. On this same saddle can, in addition, be mounted a tailstock 11 also adjustable in longitudinal position and whose point 12 is disposed along the axis of the spindle 8. At the end carrying the doll 7, the frame .is closed at the end by a removable casing 13. On the upper periphery of part 2 of the frame is provided a chip tray 14.
The doll 7 (fig. 5 to 10) consists of a hollow frame fitted to the slide taken matique la: of the bench 1 and bolted to the latter. In this frame are fixed bearing sleeves 15-l6 (fig. 6 and 7), in which the spindle 8 is rotatably mounted by the intermediary of bearings such as: those shown at 17-18 (fig. 7 ). The spindle 8 is here constituted by> a tubular element, the nose of which carries internally an interchangeable clamp 19 for fixing the threaded part and externally a conical end piece 20 which allows it to be optionally attached, in a perfectly coaxial manner. , any mandrel or mounting desired.
The clamp: clamp 19 has, at its end corresponding to the nose of the spindle 8, a conical part 19u to which corresponds a conical bore 8a in said spindle. At the inner end of this clamp is screwed a tubular rod 21 which extends by a rod 22 of smaller diameter, the free end of which, coming out of the pin 8, carries a slide 23 screwed onto it.
On the rod 22 is also screwed a sleeve 24 'which penetrates gently into the spindle 8 and on which rests a compressed spring 25 which is supported, on the other hand, on a: ring 26 fixed to the inside laughing spit. The action of this spring 25 therefore tends to push the sleeve 24, and, consequently, the rods 22 and 21 and the clamp: 19: in the direction of the arrow f and, therefore, to apply the conical part 19a of the clamp against the conical bore 8a of the spindle, thus determining the tightening of said clamp.
The opening of the clamp 19 to place the part to file ter is obtained by a thrust exerted in the opposite direction of the arrow f on the slide 23, by means of a fork 27: on which a lever 28 is keyed ( Fig. 6) controlled in a manner which will be described below, this thrust producing the compression of the internal spring 25 and releasing the conical part 19a of the clamp.
The rotation of the spindle 8 is controlled by a pulley 29 mounted coaxially around the spindle and connected by trapezoidal belts 30 to the output shaft of the speed variator 6 (FIG. 1). This pulley 29 is mounted freely: on the bearing sleeve 15 (fig. 7) by means of bearings 31-32 and is therefore independent in rotation of the spindle 8. It carries a female clutch cone 33 with which is capable of engaging a male cone 34 provided with a friction lining 35 and which forms part of a slide 36 made integral in rotation with the spindle 8 by a key 37, but which can slide longitudinally on the latter.
On the slide 36 is mounted, by means of: a bearing 38, a ring 39 on which is articulated a control yoke 40 (fig. 5 and 6). At its lower part, the yoke 40 comprises a hub 41 by which it pivots on an axis 42 fixed in the frame 7 of the headstock, perpendicu- la.irement to the geometric axis of the spindle 8.
The hub 41 carries an arm 43 at the end of which is provided a housing 43a in which is engaged a spring 44 which bears, on the other hand, in a housing 45a provided on a lever 45 in the form of a journaled caliper on the axis 42 of the clevis 40. It is through the intermediary of this lever 45 and the spring 44 acting on the arm 43 of the clevis 40 that is ordered, in a manner which will also be de described below, the engagement of: male cone 34 in the female cone 33 and, consequently, the socket: stripe.
The slide 36 carries, on the other hand, a braking cone 46 provided with a friction lining 47 and which is capable of coming into engagement, under conditions which will be explained later, with a female cone 48 integral with the sleeve. - step 1.6 to determine the stop of the spindle.
The control of the opening and tightening of the clamp 19, then of the clutch 33--34 for the rotation of the spindle takes place advantageously as follows: this device comprises a single operating lever 49 (fig. 1 and 5) fixed on a pin 50 which pivots in the frame of the headstock 7. This lever 49 is held normally in the vertical position shown in the drawing by a spring 51 attached, on the one hand, < <a frame I. of the machine by an adjustable tensioner 5? and, on the other hand, to a lever 53 gou plundered on the axis 50.
The axis 50 carries, at a point along its length, a finger 54 disposed opposite one of the pitches 55 of a double lever mounted to rock on the axis 42 of the yoke 40 and whose other arm 56 is connected by an articulated rod 57 to the free end of the lever \ 38 (fig. 6). A lug 58 (FIG. 8), fixed to the frame of the poe, limits the angular displacement of the finger 54. The axis 50 also carries a finger 59 placed opposite one of the arms 60 of a double lever mounted toggle on axis 4? and: the other arm 61 of which carries a screw 62 by which it can exert a thrust on the lever 4: 5 in the form of a caliper.
The double lever 60-61 finally comprises an appendage 63 capable of engaging on an engagement latch 64 which slides vertically in a boss 65 of the frame. 7 under the action of a square lever 66 keyed on a shaft 67 journalling in the boss 65 and which is extended to the inside of the saddle 9. The lever 66 is biased by a spring 68 which constantly tightens to lift the lock 64.
The control thus formed operates as follows (see also fig. 4) To open the clamp 19 in order to place the workpiece therein, the lever 49 is operated in the direction of arrow f 1. Under the effect of this movement, the finger 54 comes to rest on the arm 35 of the rocking lever 55-56, the other arm 56 of which then exerts a traction on the rod 5 7 and, consequently, on the lever 28. The latter pushes the slider 23 through the intermediary of the fork 27, thus determining the compression of the internal spring 25 of the spindle (fi ,. 7) and the loosening of the clamp.
The lever 49 being returned to its vertical rest position after placing the part in the clamp 19, the spring 25 is released and det.erm; ine the clamping of the clamp. By then pushing the lever 49 in the direction of the arrow f2, the finger 59 is made to act on the arm 60 of the rocking lever 60-61 including the other arm 61, pressing by the screw 62 on the caliper 45, compresses the clutch spring 44 and determines, by means of the arm 43 and the yoke 40, the engagement of the clutch cone 34 in the female cone 33. of the pulley 29.
At the end of this movement, the appendix 63 of the lever 60-61 engages the latch 64, maintaining the previous members in the clutch position.
At its rear end, the pin 8 (fi--. 7) carries a pinion 69 through which it transmits its rotational movement to the mechanisms carried by the lag 9. To this end, the pinion 69 meshes with a toothed wheel 70 keyed on a shaft 71 journaled in bearings: ball 72-73 mounted on the frame 7 of the headstock.
This shaft 71 carries, at its end which ends in the housing 13, a pinion 74 which controls a removable external gear train 75-76-77 whose shafts 78-79 are mounted on a horse head 80 capable of 'be immobilized in the correct meshing position by bolts 81. It is these gears which, together with the pinion 74 also removable, determine the reduction ratio. between the speed of rotation of the. spindle 8 and the speed of the threading mechanisms carried by the drag 9.
The shaft 79 of the last toothed wheel 77 carries, inside the frame 7 of the headstock, a pinion 82 capable of being engaged, at will, with one or the other of two pinions 83 -84 mounted on a movable support 85 forming a reversing device in order to make it possible to carry out thread steps either to the right or to the left, and which is maintained in a positive or negative position of rotation by means of locking bolts 86.
The reversing pinions 83-84 themselves cooperate with a last pinion 87 keyed on a longitudinal shaft 88 which ends at the lag 9 where it controls, as will be seen below, the movements of the threading mechanisms. The shaft 71 connected to the spindle 8 carries, on the other hand, inside the tailstock 7 (fig. 5 and 7) an angle pinion 89 which controls, via a second pi gnon 90. a tachometer housed in a housing 91 fixed to the face of the tailstock (side or vrier) and which makes it possible to control at each time the speed of rotation of the spindle.
The saddle 9 (fig. 11 to 19) consists of a hollow frame adjusted, on the one hand, on the prismatic slide 1a of the bench 1 and, on the other hand, on a rectified flat part 1b of the latter, so as to be able to slide there longitudinally for the purpose of adjusting its position.
This longitudinal movement is controlled by means of a pinion 92 meshing with a rack 93 fixed under the prismatic slide 1a (Fig. 11) and whose rotation is .com mandated by a flywheel 94 placed on the front of the machine. After adjusting its. longitudinal position, the saddle can be immobilized by means of two gibs 4th blocking 95-96 coming to rest under the corresponding re edges le and 1d of bench 1 (fig.
13) and whose tightening is ensured by means of -two rods 97-98, on which act two eccentrics 99-100 mounted on a transverse shaft 101 commanded by a lever 102 also placed on the front of the machine.
The saddle 9 has at its upper part a horizontal rectangular plate 103 fixed to it by screws 104 (Fig. 13) and each of which odes longitudinal edges is provided with two symmetrical chamfers 103a. On this plate 103 is engaged a longitudinal carriage 105 mounted so as to be able to slide very freely on it by the intermediary of four pairs of rollers: with needle the 106-107 rolling two by two on each of the chamfers 103a (fig. 14 and 15).
The axes 108-109 of the: rollers 106-107 are mounted respectively on the carriage 105 by means of bases 108a-109a blocked on the carriage by countersunk screws 110. In order to allow any adjustment and take-up of play, the axes 109 of the lower rollers 107 are eccentric with respect to their base 109a and the latter is provided with a groove 109h, in which the corresponding locking screw 110 engages; it is thus possible, by turning the bases 109a, to bring the rollers 107 more or less closer to the chamfer 103a with which they cooperate.
On the longitudinal carriage 105 is mounted. by slides, dovetail 111, a movable transverse carriage 112 on which is mounted, also by slides:; dovetail stirrups 113, a second, transverse carriage 114 carrying the tool-holder turret 10.
The displacements of the longitudinal carriage 105 on the plate 103 of the saddle, controlled by a mechanism described below, correspond to the longitudinal displacements of the tool during the threading work, while the displacements of the movable transverse carriage 112 correspond to the transverse advance and disengagement movements of the tool.
As for the upper transverse carriage 114, normally fixed during work, it is intended to allow the adjustment of the transverse position of the tool, this adjustment being obtained by means of a micrometric screw 115 (fig. 11 ) screwed into the mobile carriage. 112 and the rotation of which is controlled by a notched knob 116 and an adjustable vernier 117 carried by the carriage 114.
The previously described shaft 88, which receives its rotational movement from the spindle 8 via the gear train mounted in the headstock 7, ends in the lower part of the saddle 9 in which it is supported by ball bearings. such as 118-119 (fig. 12). This shaft 88 'bears, between the bearings 118-l19. a pinion 120 which is. made integral with it in rotation by a key 121.
The -lavette 121 is engaged in mi (, long groove 88a made on the shaft 88 and in which it can. Slide freely, provided, which allows the pinion 120 to be extended along the shaft 88 with the saddle 9 when adjusting the longitudinal position of the latter. The pinion 120 meshes with a rusty 122-keyed on a <shaft 123 which journalled in the bearings 121-125 mounted in the sag 9 (fi ,. 16 and, 17).
At the end of the shaft 1.23 opposite the worker is wedged a cam-bell 126 with the profile of which is in contact a roller 127 secured under the corresponding end of the longitudinal carriage 105 (see also fig. 15) . The roller 127 is kept pressed against the cam 12 (1 by the action of two compressed springs 1: 3t (interposed between the plate 103 and the carriage 105 and which tend to push the latter towards the end of plate 103 opposite the headstock 1.
It's here. cam-bell 126, called <step cam,>, which controls the longitudinal displacement of the carriage 105 and, consequently, that of the tool (not shown) mounted on the tool holder 1.0, and which determines the maximum length of thread and the pitch of this thread. taking into account the speed of rotation given by the gear train interposed between the spindle and the shaft 88.
This cam, which is interposed according to the length and the desired thread pitch, has a profile comprising: a first helical part which extends, depending on whether one wishes to obtain a more or less rapid displacement of the tool, either, for example, on an angle of about 180, or, for example, on an angle of about 240 'and which. corresponds to the work of the tool;
a flat part producing a stop of the 1.05 carriage during which the tool is released and. a plunge of the tool - the value of the next pass; and a second oblique part including the inclination. is the reverse of that of. preceding, corresponding to the rapid return of the carriage 105 under the action. resources 128.
To allow the cam 126 to be changed as required, a screw 129 (FIG. 13) enables the longitudinal carriage 105 to be blocked on the saddle. When it is desired to make this change, the machine is rotated until the roller 127 is on the upper part. of the cam 126, then immobilize the carriage 1 (> 5 by the screw 129, the cam 126 is removed, the new cam is put in place, the machine is still rotated until the new cam presents its lower part facing the roller 19-7 and the screw 129 is loosened slightly until -this roller has come into contact with said cam.
At the end of the shaft 123 opposite to that which carries the cam 126 are mounted two cams, paired 130a-130b, nested one inside the other and fixed on a plate 131 integral with the shaft 123, by means of of three screws 132 placed at. 120 relative to each other.
On the profile of these cams, a more complete description of which will be given below, rolls a roller 133 (fig, 18 and 19) carried by a lever 134 which is mounted at its lower end on a pin 135 journaled on the saddle 9 , a compressed spring 1.36 acting on the lever 134 to keep the roller 133 in constant contact with said cams.
its upper end, the lever 134 is connected by a cardan joint 137 to a bar 138 which slides in a longitudinal 00-Eissière 139 formed in the saddle 9 and whose free end has a ramp 138a leading to a part of reduced thickness 138b (fig. 22) with which is in contact one of the arms of a balance 140 pivoted by means of an axis 141 on the saddle (fig. 11).
The other arm of the lance arm 140 acts on a pusher 142 which is in contact with a reproducer 143 secured to the transverse carriage 112, which pusher serves to transmit to the carriage 112, and consequently to the tool, the advance movements. transver dirty against the action of a compressed spring144 interposed between the longitudinal carriage 105 and the transverse carriage 112 and which tends to push the latter back towards the worker.
The reproducer 143 consists of a wedge whose face in contact with the pusher 142 is perfectly flat and which is mounted so as to be able to pivot about a vertical axis 145 fixed to the carriage 112 (fig. 11, 15, 19 and 22). . The position of this wedge is -sus ceptible to be adjusted by means of two screws 146 passing through a plate 147 attached to the corresponding end of the carriage 112, the wedge 143 having a lateral finger 143a provided with a mark and which comes projecting on one of the sides of the carriage 112 (fig. 15 and 23), in front of a graduation mark on: the latter.
When the wedge 143 is placed in the position where its face in contact with the pusher 142 is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the machine (fig. 23), the stroke of the tool, during the working phase, . is carried out along a trajectory parallel to: this same axis and one. ob holds a cylindrical thread; when, by the play of the adjusting screws 146, the wedge 143 is brought into a position: oblique with respect to the longitudinal axis of the:
machine (fig. 24), a tapered thread is obtained. It is understood that one could adopt, instead of the flat wedge 143, a reproducer having a profile having any desired shape for the execution of a corresponding stock removal work.
The lever 134, controlled by the twin cams 129-130, is connected, on the other hand, by a rod 148, to a lever 149 (fig. 19) pivotally mounted on a pin 150 in a housing 151 provided on the face of the saddle 9 op posed to the worker and which contains the various mechanisms for controlling the transverse advance of the tool and for adjusting the number of passes, this housing being closed laterally by a cover 152 hinged at 152a (fig. 13 and 15).
The lever 149 (see also Fig. 20) carries a pawl 158 which controls a ratchet wheel 154 whose reverse rotation is prevented by a stopper pawl 155. The ratchet wheel 154 is keyed to a shaft 156 which journals in bearings 157-158 carried by the lagger (fig. 13).
On the shaft 156 is also: keyed a pinion 159 which meshes with a toothed sector 160 (fig. 11 and 12) fixed on another shaft 161 which itself rotates in bearings 162 -163.
At its end terminating in the housing 151, the shaft 161 carries a variable cam 164 comprising two exoentrics having an identical offset, mounted one on the other and whose angular positions relative to the shaft 161 are capable of being adjusted independently of one another, in order to make it possible to vary, on the one hand, the amplitude of the total feed of the tool and, on the other hand, the ratio between the depth of the first passes and that of the last ones. This cam 164 acts! Here on a pusher 165 connected by a ball joint 166 to a slide 167 adjustable in height,
fixed on one of the arms of a pivoting lever 168, the other arm of which comes into contact with the bar 138 previously described, opposite the balance 140. The cam 164 thus controls, via the parts 165- 167-168-138 -.- 140-142-143 and of the carriage 112, the progressive advance of the tool in depth.
As explained above, the oscillatory movement of the lever 134 which controls, on the one hand, the movement of the sliding bar 138 and, on the other hand, the tilting of the lever 149 carrying the pawl drive 153, is controlled by the twin cams 130a 130b.
The profile of these cams is such that during the longitudinal displacement of the carriage 105 controlled by the first helical part of the. step cam 126 and which corresponds to the work of the tool, the lever 134 remains stationary, the tool remaining at the same transverse feed position;
during the subsequent stopping of the carriage 105 @corre: due to the first bearing of the cam 126, the lever 134 is moved in the direction @of the arrow f 3 (fig. 19) so as to hand, to bring the thin part 138b of the bar 138 in view of the balance 140 and to determine, under the action of the spring 144, a transverse displacement of:
carriage 112 towards the worker, thus producing the release of the tool, and, on the other hand, to determine, by the tilting of the lever 149, the rise of the pawl 4 'drive 153 and, by following, an angular displacement of the ratchet wheel 154 of the value of one tooth, which produces, via the pinion 150,:
of the toothed sector 160 and of the variable cam 164 acting as mentioned above, the plunging of the tool to the depth necessary for the next pass, during the return of the longitudinal carriage 105 (descending part of the, cam 126), the lever 134 is moved in the direction of the arrow f4, so as to cause the ramp 138a of the bar 138 to act on the balance 140 and to determine, via of the pusher 142, the gradual return of the carriage 112 and, consequently, of the tool in the working position, this position being reached when the bar 138 presents: 5a thick part facing the balance 140.
The profile of the twin cams 130a-130b therefore has a flat part extending over an angle at least equal to that of the first helical part of the pitch cam 126; a ramp corresponding to the flat part of the cam 126; and a ramp; inclined in the opposite direction to the previous one and corresponding to the descending part of the cam 126.
Like the. first helical part of the cam 126 may have, for example, as has been said, an extent of 180 or (I 240. the two cams: twin 130a-130b, whose profiles are identical, - are capable of being offset, one relative to the other by 60, in order to present to the roller 133 of the lever 134, during the action of this helical part, and depending on the case, a flat part. 180 or 240. For this purpose, the cam 130b is provided, for the passage of the three screws 132 which unite it to the cam 129 and to the plate 131, with six holes or buttonholes 130th spaced 60 apart (fig. 18).
The angular displacement of the variable cam 164, which controls the progressive advance of the tool in depth, is limited to the angle which corresponds to the working arc of this cam capable of determining a movement of advance of the tool according to a law of positive sinusoidal variation, in correlation with a mechanism which makes it possible to set the number of passes at will: in which the total advance of the tool must be carried out.
For this purpose, a spring 169 attached,: on the one hand, to a. screw 170 fixed to the saddle 9, and, on the other hand, to a steel tape 171 wound on the shaft 161 of the toothed sector 160, tends to constantly bring the latter back, this movement being limited by a adjustable stop 172 disposed on the wall of the saddle.
By ail Leurq, on one of the faces of the ratchet wheel 154 is fixed a plate 173 (fig. 13) carrying a lug 174 which can be engaged at will: in one of the holes 175a made, on a same circumference of a coaxial plate 175 mounted freely on the shaft 156, each of: these holes corresponding to a number of passes, .determined. The perforated plate 175 also carries a finger 176 on the path of which is placed a lever 177 (fig. 17 and 19) wedged at the end of a shaft 178 mounted parallel to the shaft 156 of the wheel. ratchet.
On the shaft 178 is wedged a: second lever 179 with two arms. Whose lower arm is located opposite a lug 180 provided on the stop pawl 155. This lever 179 itself drives by a clutch to wolf teeth 179a a third lever 181 mounted on the shaft 178 and the lower arm of which is situated opposite a lug 182 provided on the drive pawl 153.
The arrangement of these components is such that, as soon as the finger 176 of the plate 175 pushes the lever 177, the levers 179 and 181 come to press, respectively on the gots 180 and 182 of the pawls 155 and 153, lift these: two pawls and release the ratchet wheel 154 and the perforated plate 175.
Under the action of the spring 169, the toothed sector 160 is then brought back until it is stopped by the stop 172 thus returning via the a.rbre 161 the variable cam 164 to its original position.
- The shaft 178 carrying the levers: 179 and 181 for releasing the eliquets 153-155 carries. in addition (Fig. 17), a helical pinion 183 which meshes with a pinion 184 mounted on the shaft 67 whose end -opposed, slituée in the. doll 7, carries the lever 66 controlling the engagement latch 64 of the clutch.
The pinion 184 is made integral in rotation with the shaft 67 by a key 185 which is engaged in a long groove 67a made on this shaft and in which it can slide freely, which allows said pinion 184 to be moved. along the shaft67 with the saddle 9 when adjusting the longitudinal position of the latter.
When the shaft 178 is angularly displaced by the thrust of the finger 176 of the perforated plate 175 on the lever 177, the shaft 67 is itself dragged in rotation by the pinions 183-184 and determines, via the lever 66, the lowering of the latch 64, thus releasing the lever 63 (fig. 5 'and 6).
The latter, biased by a spring 186 adjustable by means of a knob 187, releases the clutch cone 34 from the cone 33 of the pulley 29 and engages the braking cone 46 in the fixed cone 48, thus automatically stopping the rotation of the spindle 8 and, consequently, the operation of the set of mechanisms carried by the lag 9.
Above the shaft 178 is mounted in the lag 9 another transverse shaft 187 (fig. 17 and 19) which crosses the lag and abuts, on the one hand, on the front of the machine where it bears a lever & maneuver 188 with three positions provided with a spring-loaded stop finger 189 and, on the other hand, inside the housing 151 At the end of this shaft 187 located in the housing 151 is wedged a lever comprising two arms, 190-191 arranged in different planes. The arm 190 is arranged opposite the upper arm of the lever 181 so that,
when the operating lever 188 is rotated in the direction of arrow f 5 (fig. 20), this arm 190 causes the lever 181 to switch, which, acting on the lug 182 of the drive lever 153, releases this last of the ratchet wheel 154; the rotation of this wheel is thus prevented and the machine runs empty, the tool remaining at the same depth of pass, which makes it possible to perfect the adjustment of the tool or to check them! operations at each pass.
The arm 191 is arranged opposite a double lever 192 which, when the operating lever 188 is rotated in the direction of arrow f 6 (fig. 21), acts on the upper arm of the lever 179 - and produced, through the intermediary & the latter and the lever 181, the: release of. pawls 155 is 153 and, consequently, the stopping of the machine in conditions similar to those which accompany the automatic release at the end of work.
The tailstock 11 comprises a hollow frame mounted on a bridge 193, provided at the end of the saddle 9 opposite to the. doll 7 (fig. 18) by a dovetail 194, which a screw 195 .commanded by a lever 196 makes it possible to clamp to lock the counterpoints in the chosen position. In the frame of this tailstock (fig. 25 to 29) is mounted a slide 197 carrying the point 12 and which is subjected to the thrust of a compressed spring 198 which tends to push it outwards.
On the slider 197 are formed laterally two countersunk notches 197a in which are engaged the two branches of a yoke 199 wedged on a transverse axis 200, one end of which ends on one of the sides of the tailstock 11 and carries a lever, to operate 201.
The millings 197a each have, towards the rear, a ramp 197b arranged so that when the lever 201 is rotated in the direction. of arrow f7 (fig. 25), the branches of the yoke 199 push back the slide 197 and, consequently, the point 12 against the action of the spring 198.
The axle 200 is connected, on the other hand, by means of a lever 202, a link 203 and a second lever 204 (fig. 26) to a threaded axle 205 on which is screw a plug & block 206 tangent to the slide 197 (fig. 27).
The arrangement is such that when the lever 201 is turned in the direction of the arrow f 8 (fig. 26), the yoke 199 releases the slide 197 and the point 12, which the res comes out 198 then pushes on the end of the part to be threaded, and that at the end of its travel, the vier 202, the rod 203 and the lever 204 de terminate, by the rotation of the threaded axis 205, a transverse displacement @du buffer 206 causing the latter to block the coulis bucket 197.
The overall operation of the machine thus constituted is the sniiva-ni (see fig. 4): First of all the position of the pitch = nard 9 is adjusted on the bench 1, according to the length of the pieces to be threaded , by unlocking this lag by means of the lever 102 acting on the locking gibs 95, then by moving said lag by means of the handwheel 94 and by locking it again using the lever 102.
We also regulate, possibly, the. position of the tailstock 11 on the saddle 9 after having tightened the lever 196 and it is immobilized in the chosen position by means of this same lever. The clamp 19 corresponding to the diameter of the workpiece to be threaded is mounted in spindle 8. On the other hand, one climbs on the shaft 123, in the manner previously described, the. pitch cam 126 corresponding to the desired pitch and thread length, is mounted on the headstock 7 the set of gears 74, 75, 76, 77 specific to.
give the desired ratio between the speed of rotation of spindle 8 and that of shaft 123, and the relative position of the twin cams 130a, 130b is adjusted depending on whether the chosen pitch cam has a propeller = upward s' extending, for example, over 180 or 240. The finger 174 of the ratchet wheel 154 is engaged in the hole 175a of the plate 175 which corresponds to the number of passes envisaged and the variable cam 164 is adjusted according to the depth of the thread to be produced and according to the desired ratio. between the first and the last passes. Finally, the transverse position of the tool mounted on the tool holder 10 is adjusted to the hub of the notched button 116 controlling the upper transverse carriage 114.
To introduce the piece to be threaded into the Thin 19 of the spindle 8, the lever 49 is maneuvered in the direction of the arrow f 1, thus determining the opening of said clamp by the intermedia.iredes levers 54, 55, 56, the rod 57 of the lever 28, the fork 27 and the slider 23 which compresses the inner spring 5 of the pin 8 (fig. 7). The piece to be threaded being placed in the clamp 19, the lever 49 is pushed back to its middle position, cc which determines the closing of this clamp by a process opposite to the previous one, and, consequently, the clamping of the piece to thread.
The point 12 of the tailstock 11 is possibly engaged on the opposite end of the part by passing through the direction of the arrow f 8 the lever 201 previously brought into the disengaged position by a maneuver in the direction of the arrow f 7. Then the machine is -engaged by pushing the lever 49 in the direction of the arrow H), this movement bringing the cone 34 into engagement with the female cone 33 of the pulley 29 via the levers 59, 60., 61, of the caliper 45, of the clutch spring 44 (fig. 6) of the arm 43 and of the yoke 40.
At the end of this maneuver, the lever 63 engages the latch 64 pushed upwards by the lever 66 subjected to the action of the spring 68, thus locking the assembly in the clutch position. The machine starts up.
Via the shaft 88 'and the gears 120, 122, the shaft 123 is rotated and the pitch cam 126 determines, through the roller 127, the reciprocating movement. of the longitudinal carriage 105 and, consequently, of the tool along the part to be threaded, with stopping of this carriage at each end of travel on the outward journey (corresponding to an effective pass) and on the return.
In correlation with this movement, the twin cams 130a-130b carried by the same shaft 123 determine via the roller 133, at the end of the outward travel of the carriage 105, the movement of the lever 134 in the direction of the arrow f 3, from which results, -on the one hand, following the tilting of the rocker 140 produced by the ramp 138a of the bar 138, the withdrawal of the transverse -carriage 112 towards the worker and the release of the tool , and, on the other hand, as a result of the tilting of the lever 149, the rise of the drive pawl 153 and a displacement of the ratchet wheel 154 by the value of one tooth,
by dragging an angular displacement of the variable cam 164 corresponding to the transverse advance of the tool for the following pass; during the return stroke of the Iongitu- dinal 105 carriage, the twin cams 130a-130b determine the movement of the lever 134 in the direction of the arrow f4, from which results, via the ramp 138a of the bar 138 , of the balance 140 and of the pusher 142, the gradual return of the transverse carriage 112 to the working position:
, after which the longitudinal carriage 105 is driven again by the action of the step cam 126 for the execution of the next pass.
These movements: repeat until the desired number of passes has been made. At this moment, the finger 176 of the perforated plate 175 raises the lever 177 and produces, by means of the levers 179-181, the successive release of the stop and drive pawls 155 and 153, thus freeing the plate 175 and the variable cam 164 which are returned to their initial position by the spring 169 acting on the shaft 161, while the helical gears 184--185,
actuating the longitudinal shaft 67, determine in the tailstock 7 the descent of the latch 64, thus releasing the lever 61 and, consequently, the lever 43 which, urged by the brake spring 186, disengages the cone 35 from the cone 33 and engages the braking cone 46 in the fixed female cone 48, which results in stopping the spindle 8 and the various threading mechanisms and returning them to the starting point for a new working cycle.
If one wishes, for any reason whatsoever, to stop the machine during work, the lever 188 is turned in the direction of the arrow f 6, which causes the finger 190 to act by means of the rocking lever 192 on levers 179-181 controlling the release of pawls 155 and 152. As we have seen above, by turning the lever 188 in the direction of the arrow f to, we bring the finger 190 to act on the lever 181 producing the release of the single drive pawl 153 and the machine runs empty, that is to say without taking place an advance of the tool at the end of each longitudinal carriage stroke 105.
After automatic shutdown of the machine in. end of work, if necessary, the tip 12 of the threaded piece is released by turning the lever 201 of the counterpoint in the direction of the arrow f7, . loosen the clamp 19 by turning lever 49 in the direction of arrow f 1 and removing it. room. The installation of a new part and its thread is obtained by repeating the operations described above.
For the case of long parts - of which the clearance of the spindle could not be obtained by the simple operation of the tailstock 11, one. unlock; the lagger 9 by means of the lever 102 acting on the blocking gibs 95 and it is moved away from the nose of the spindle 8 by sliding it on the bench 1.
When a new part is mounted, the saddle is brought back to its operating position determined by an adjustable stop 207 provided for this purpose on a support 208 fixed on the body of the doll 7 (see also FIG. 1), then we. again blocks the laggard using the lever 102. This device can be used in similar conditions for the release of the tool. in the case of internal threads.
