Cliché d'impression. L'invention a pour objet un cliché d'im pression du genre propre à "être passé dans des machines à imprimer des adresses ou des machines semblables:. D'habitude, ces clichés sont faits en tôle métallique;
ils, portent en relief le texte à imprimer et leur forme leur permet de glisser d'un magasin ou d'une tré mie à la position d'impression, où l'action de la machine effectue une impression des ca ractères en relief. Quand ils ne sont pas uti lisés, les clichés sont conservés d'habitude dans des tiroirs.
Pour pouvoir identifier les clichés indi viduels, il est commode de les munir d'une inscription indicatrice, non destinée à 1'im- pressionouà la reproduction,
mais facilement visible lorsque les clichés sont classés. On a proposé notamment de munir ces clichés d'une marge supplémentaire apte à recevoir ladite inscription indicatrice ou une carte por tant celle-ci.
Pour faciliter la sélection des clichés indi- viduels ou groupes de clichés, des pattes de signalisation ou d'identification sont fréquem ment fixées sur les, clichés., dont un bord pré sente généralement une succession d'encoches ou de fentes étroites dans chacune des quelles. peut s'enfiler une languette d'une patte de métal ou autre se distinguant par sa couleur, par un numéro ou par une autre marque.
Dans les clichés de ce genre, toute inscription indicatrice a jusqu'à présent été faite sur des pattes de longueur voulue, fixées sur le bord approprié du cliché de la même manière que les pattes de signalisation pré citées.
L'emploi de pattes avec inscription indicatrice a des inconvénients: L'emploi de l'une ou de plusieurs des encoches, pour la fixation d'une patte avec inscription indica trice peut gêner ou restreindre les possibilités de: variation d'identification par pattes de si gnalisation.
De plus, comme ces dernières sont destinées -à être fréquemment changées, il peut arriver qu'en ôtant les pattes de si gnalisation l'opérateur enlève aussi l'a patte portant l'inscription indicatrice. Comme cette inscription indicatrice est en premier lieu destinée à identifier le cliché individuel,
il n'est pas désirable que l'on puisse séparer complètement cette inscription du cliché cor respondant.
Le cliché d'impression faisant l'objet de la présente invention, notamment pour machine à imprimer les adresses, est caractérisé par 1e fait qu'il présente des fentes latérales pour l'a réception de pattes amovibles,
et une marge formant partie intégrante du cliché et apte à recevoir une inscription indicatrice, cette marge étant :
disposée sur le même bord que les fentes, mais de telle manière qu'elle ne gêne pas leur -emploi pour la réception des pattes, cette marge étant en outre constituée par une seulie épaisseur de matière et accessi ble des deux côtés du cliché,
en sorte que l'inscription indicatrice peut être emboutie. Cette inscription peut ainsi. être faite avec la même machine que le sujet à imprimer et sera également permanente. Les fentes pour les pattes peuvent être formées dans le bord ,
extérieur replié de ladite marge ou dans une partie repliée du cliché reliant le corps de celui-ci au bord intérieur de ladite marge.
L'invention- pourra être, appliquée non seulement aux clichés en une pièce, mais aussi aux clichés composés, comprenant un cadre présentant des fentes latérales et une marge, ainsi qu'une plaque de cliché rapportée sur ce cadre.
Le dessin annexé représente, à. titre d'exemples, quatre formes d'exécution . du cliché d'impression suivant l'invention.
Les fige 1, 2 et 3 sont des vues perspec tives de trois de ces. formes d'exécution, cons- tituées par des cliches faits d'une pièce, et la fige 4 est une vue en plan d'une forme d'exécution constituée par un cliché composé.
Dans. la forme d'exécution représentée à la fige 1, uns plaque 1 a la forme, en section transversale, d'un canal peu profond, avec des bords longitudinaux 2 et 3 repliés pour former raidissement.
Dans l'un des plis exis- tants sur l'un des bords. longitudinaux<B>3</B> sont ménagées une série de fentes équidis- tantes 4 appropriées à recevoir au choix, de manière connue, une ou plusieurs pattes de signalisation 5.
Comme un emboutissage se .fait le- mieux sur une simple épaisseur de plaque, accessible -des deux côtés, la partie repliée du bord longitudinal 3 est limitée de façon -à prévoir, en plus du pli, une marge de surface plate et de simple épaisseur, con tiguë à la partie repliée du bord 3, qui soit assez large pour qu'une inscription indicatrice 6 puisse être gravée en relief sur cette sur face plate,
de préférence,de la môme manière que le texte normal d'impression 7.
Comme on le voit sur la fige 2, le bord 3 de la plaque 1 est pourvu d'une marge 8 so lidaire, obtenue en prenant une largeur de matière suffisante pour permettre de replier le bord 3 à triple épaisseur et pour que le pli postérieur constitue la marge 8, de simple épaisseur, comme on l'a dit plus haut, en sup- plément du bord normal 3,
une inscription appr opriée 6 étant emboutie sur cette marge 8.
Dans une variante de la forme représentée à la fige 2, la marge 8 peut être raccourcie de façon à n'occuper qu'une partie de l'a lon gueur de la plaque, comme le montre la fige 3. Dans cette forme d'exécution, le bord 3, sauf sur la partie 8, est replié à double de la même manière que le bord 2, l<B>à,</B> partie 8 de ce bord 3 constituant une surface plate et acces sible, à simple épaisseur,
nécessaire pour constituer la marge devant recevoir une ins cription. Des entailles 4 servent à recevoir des pattes @de signalisation 5. Dans cette forme d'exécution, le nombre des entaillas 4 dans lesquelles on peut introduire des pattes est naturellement réduit.
Tandis que les fige 1, 2 et 3 représentent diverses formes d'exécution constituées par des .clichés d'impression en une pièce, cer taines formes d'exécution peuvent être cons- tituées par ,des clichés d'impression composés. Une telle forme d'exécution est représentée à. la fige 4.
Elle est semblable à celle de la fige 2, le texte à imprimer 7 étant toutefois formé sur une plaque de cliché 9, plate et oblongue, fixée d'une manière séparable à un cadre 10. On fige la plaque 9 dans sa, posi tion en l'engageant sous dès oreilles 11 et ainsi on forme un cliché composé.
Dans ces diverses formes d'exécution, il est prévu une marge présentant une surface d'emboutissage de simple épaisseur, plate et accessible, cette marge étant solidaire du bord d'un cliché fait en une pièce, ou du bord du cadre d'un cliché composé, -et propre à recevoir une inscription emboutie,
de façon que l'inscription soit inséparable du cliché d'impression et que la durée et la lisibilité de cette inscription soient égales au. temps pendant lequel le cliché d'impression est uti lisable.
Printing cliché. The object of the invention is a printing plate of the kind suitable for "being passed through address printing machines or similar machines: Usually, these plates are made of sheet metal;

but easily visible when the snapshots are filed. It has been proposed in particular to provide these pictures with an additional margin suitable for receiving said indicative inscription or a card bearing the latter.
To facilitate the selection of individual clichés or groups of clichés, signaling or identification tabs are frequently attached to the clichés., One edge of which generally has a succession of notches or narrow slits in each of the clichés. which. can slip on a tab of a metal tab or other distinguished by its color, by a number or by another mark.
In photographs of this kind, all indicative inscriptions have heretofore been made on tabs of the desired length, fixed to the appropriate edge of the plate in the same manner as the aforementioned signaling tabs.
The use of tabs with an indicative inscription has drawbacks: The use of one or more of the notches, for fixing a tab with an indicative inscription, may hinder or restrict the possibilities of: variation of identification by tabs signaling.
In addition, as the latter are intended to be frequently changed, it may happen that by removing the signaling tabs the operator also removes the tab bearing the indicating inscription. As this indicative inscription is primarily intended to identify the individual photograph,
it is not desirable that we can completely separate this inscription from the corresponding photograph.
The printing block which is the subject of the present invention, in particular for an address printing machine, is characterized by the fact that it has side slots for receiving removable tabs,
and a margin forming an integral part of the cliché and suitable for receiving an indicative inscription, this margin being:
arranged on the same edge as the slots, but in such a way that it does not interfere with their use for the reception of the legs, this margin also being constituted by a single thickness of material and accessible from both sides of the plate,
so that the indicative inscription can be stamped. This registration can as well. be made with the same machine as the subject to be printed and will also be permanent. Slots for the legs can be formed in the edge,
folded outside of said margin or in a folded part of the plate connecting the body thereof to the inner edge of said margin.
The invention may be applied not only to one-piece clichés, but also to compound clichés, comprising a frame having side slits and a margin, as well as a cliché plate attached to this frame.
The accompanying drawing represents, to. as examples, four embodiments. of the printing plate according to the invention.
Figures 1, 2 and 3 are perspective views of three of these. embodiments, constituted by clichés made in one piece, and fig 4 is a plan view of an embodiment constituted by a composite cliché.
In. the embodiment shown in fig 1, a plate 1 has the shape, in cross section, of a shallow channel, with longitudinal edges 2 and 3 folded over to form stiffening.
In one of the folds on one of the edges. longitudinal <B> 3 </B> are formed a series of equidistant slots 4 suitable to receive as desired, in a known manner, one or more signaling tabs 5.
As a stamping is best done on a simple plate thickness, accessible from both sides, the folded part of the longitudinal edge 3 is limited so as to provide, in addition to the fold, a flat surface margin and simple thickness, con tiguous to the folded part of the edge 3, which is wide enough so that an indicating inscription 6 can be engraved in relief on this on the flat face,
preferably, in the same way as normal print text 7.
As seen in fig 2, the edge 3 of the plate 1 is provided with a so lidary margin 8, obtained by taking a sufficient width of material to allow the edge 3 to be folded up to triple thickness and so that the posterior fold constitutes the margin 8, of simple thickness, as we said above, in addition to the normal edge 3,
an appropriate inscription 6 being stamped on this margin 8.
In a variant of the form shown in fig 2, the margin 8 can be shortened so as to occupy only part of the length of the plate, as shown in fig 3. In this form of execution, the edge 3, except on the part 8, is folded back twice in the same way as the edge 2, the <B> to, </B> part 8 of this edge 3 constituting a flat and accessible surface, to single thickness,
necessary to constitute the margin to be registered. Notches 4 serve to receive signaling tabs 5. In this embodiment, the number of notches 4 into which tabs can be inserted is naturally reduced.
While Figures 1, 2 and 3 show various embodiments of one-piece printing plates, some embodiments may be composed of compound printing plates. Such an embodiment is shown in. freeze 4.
It is similar to that of fig 2, the text to be printed 7 being however formed on a cliché plate 9, flat and oblong, fixed in a separable manner to a frame 10. The plate 9 is frozen in its, position. by engaging it under ears 11 and thus forming a composite image.
In these various embodiments, a margin is provided having a single-thickness, flat and accessible stamping surface, this margin being integral with the edge of a plate made in one piece, or the edge of the frame of a cliché composed, -and suitable to receive a stamped inscription,
so that the inscription is inseparable from the printing cliché and that the duration and legibility of this inscription are equal to. time during which the printing block is usable.
