Clockwork piece with pendulum
The present invention relates to a piece dthor logerie with a pendulum, the cock of which has an elongated shape and carries at one of its ends the bearing for the upper pivoting of the axis of the balance.
We already know a construction of this type, in which a clamping screw fixes the rear end of the cock to the movement plate in combination with three adjustment screws arranged near the clamping screw and each forms two parts, of which 11 one is fixed to the plate and the other to the rear end of the cock, allowing the position of the bearings to be adjusted so that the swing of the balance axis remains the same at all temperatures.
A device has also already been proposed which facilitates the adjustment in the longitudinal direction of the axis of the balance wheel of watches, this device comprising a pressure screw tapped into each of the two supports of said axis and making it possible to move these supports more or less away. the plate on which they are fixed.
These known constructions have not given satisfaction in practice, the cock being poorly held in place on the plate.
The timepiece according to the invention is characterized in that the cock is constituted by a plate of at least approximately constant thickness, the end of which opposite said bearing is engaged with an adjusting screw screwed into the plate and in that it is fixed to the frame between its ends by means of two fixing screws, the plane of the axes of said fixing screws being at least approximately perpendicular to the plane containing the axis of the balance and the axis of the adjusting screw, the whole being arranged so as to allow vary 1: axial swing of the axis of the balance using said adjustment screw and by elastic deformation of the cock.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention. Only what is necessary for an understanding of the invention is shown in the drawing.
Fig. 1 is a plan view of this embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a section taken along line II-II of FIG. 1.
The timepiece partially shown in the drawing comprises a balance 1, the axis 2 of which is pivoted in the usual manner between the plate 3 and the cock 4. The bearing of the plate is generally designated by 5 and that of the cock 4 by 6, each of these bearings preferably comprising a pierced stone and a counter-pivot stone. The balance 1 is of any type and cooperates with a hairspring 7 attached on the one hand to the balance axle 2 and on the other hand to a piton 8. The piton holder 9 is rotatably mounted with greasy friction coaxially with the balance axle 2 A racket 10 carrying a pin 11 and a key 12 is mounted with greasy friction on the hook 13 and makes it possible to adjust the active length of the hairspring 7.
The cock 4 has an elongated shape and carries at one of its ends the pad 6 for the upper pivoting of the balance axis 2. It is formed by a plate of at least approximately constant thickness, the end of which 18 opposes the pad 6 is engaged. with an adjusting screw 14 screwed into plate 3; the screw 14 has a groove 15 below its head in which the thinned end 18 of the cock board 4 is engaged. The plate 3 carries two pillars 16 serving to support the cock 4, the latter being fixed to the pillars 16 by means of two cap screws 17.
The plane of the axes of the two fixing screws 17 is perpendicular to the plane containing the axis of the balance 1 and the axis of the screw ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ of adjustment 14, and the cock 4 is slightly widened to the right of the screws 17, so that it has more or less the general appearance of a cross.
To mount the cock 4 on the plate 3, we start by inserting the adjustment screw 14 in the corresponding thread of the plate 3, then it is screwed a few turns. The cock 4 is then put in place by engaging its edge 18 in the groove 15 of the screw 14 and by causing the middle part of the cock to rest on the pillars 16, so that its fixing holes 19 come opposite the corresponding threads of the pillars 16. The cock 4 is thus temporarily held in place by the screw 14 and the upper pivot of 1 t balance pin 2 can be engaged in the bearing 6. The two fixing screws 17 are then put in place and tightened. used to keep cock 4 on plate 3.
To adjust the axial movement of the balance shaft 2 between its bearings 5 and 6, it suffices to turn the adjustment screw 14 through a certain angle in one direction or the other.
If the screw 14 is in fact screwed in so as to drive it further into the plate 3, the upper wall of the groove 15, that is to say the lower face of the head of the screw 14, acts on the upper face of the edge 18 and tilts this edge 18 downwards, so that the opposite end of the cock 4, carrying the pad 6, is moved upwards, which increases the axial bearing of the axis 2.
On the contrary, if the screw 14 unscrews a little, it is the lower wall of the groove 15 which acts on the lower face of the edge 18 and tends to move the bearing 6 downwards, thus reducing the axial flow of the axis.

EMI5.1
Although the cock 4 is held between its ends by the two fixing screws 17, it can tilt to a certain extent around the axis formed by the line connecting the centers of the two screws 17 seen in plan.
On the other hand, the alterations to be made to the axial debate of the axis 2 are always low, and it is easily seen that a slight displacement of the edge 18 results in an amplified displacement of the pad 6, due to the ratio of the lever arms. We see in fact in FIG. 1 that the distance between the bearing 6 and the line connecting the centers of the fixing screws 17 is greater than the distance between said line and the adjusting screw 14. The tests carried out have given complete satisfaction and have shown that it is possible to modify the condition axial of the balance axis 2 within the desired limits.
The screw 14 preferably has a "strong pitch, that is to say a pitch barely greater than that of the corresponding thread of the plate 3, so mulon thus obtains a fairly hard fit of the screw 14 in the plate, which prevents any untimely rotation of the screw 14, once the adjustment has been made.
It can be seen that the position of the cock 4 is perfectly determined, due to the fact that it is maintained on the plate 3 in three places, namely by the heads of the two screws 17 and by the upper or lower wall of the groove 15 of the screw adjustment 14.
According to a variant, it is also possible, in order to adjust the axial movement of the balance shaft 2, first unscrew the screws 17 a little, then turn the screw 14 at a certain angle in the desired direction, then tighten the screws. screw 17.
This procedure allows, if necessary, to obtain a slightly higher adjustment amplitude.
The screw 14 therefore assumes a dual function, since, on the one hand, it allows the cock 4 to be temporarily held during its assembly, which proves to be very useful in practice, and that, on the other hand, it makes it possible to adjust without difficulty the axial rebate of the balance axis 2, the latter operation can be done even on the finished watch, without requiring any disassembly.
