série benzénique possédant une position libre en para par rapport au (Proupe amino et un, substituant tel qu'un r coupe alcoyle, un groupe alcoxy ou un (;"ro-Lipe acylamino en méta par rapport au groupe amino et pouvant en outre posséder un. second substituant tel qu'un groupe al coyle ou un groupe al-coxy en para par rap port au premier substituant, ou avec les aci des o)-méthanesulfouiques de ces amines;
A method of making a disazo dye. It has been found that high value disazo dyes are obtained by diazotizing aminoazo dyes of the general formula:
EMI0001.0005
in which X represents an alkyl group or an alkoxy group or an acylamino cut, Y represents a hydrogen atom or -an alkyl group or an alkoxy group and the benzene rings A and B may have other suh :, tituants, then by coupling the diazo compounds with the acid 2 - W- aminobenzoyl- aniino) -:
5 - hydroxynaphthalene-7 - sulfonic acid. Aminoazo dyes corresponding to the general formula given above are written by diazotizing 4 - (4 '- aminobenzoyl-, imino) -1-hydroxybenzene-2-carboxylic acid or a derivative of this acid. and -coupling it with amines of the.
benzene series having a free position in para with respect to the (Amino group and a substituent such as an alkyl moiety, an alkoxy group or a (; "ro-Lipe acylamino in meta with respect to the amino group and may additionally have a second substituent such as an alkyl group or an al-coxy group para to the first substituent, or with the aci of the o) -methanesulfides of these amines;
in the latter case, the sulfomethyl group must still be removed after coupling by cha.uffabe with an alkali or a dilute acid. The novel dyes thus obtained are in the form of dark powders and are easily soluble in water. They dye cotton and regenerated cellulose - in red, burgundy, purple or blue shades with good lightfastness.
They can be diazotized on the fiber and developed with betanaphthol. Therefore, the nuances are little modified; the fastnesses to water, to washing, to sweat and to over-tinting are considerably improved. After treatment with the agents commonly employed for the wrinkle-resistant finish, the direct and developed dyes show a dramatic improvement in lightfastness.
The present patent relates to a process for the manufacture of a new disazo dye, according to which the friendly dye is dinitrogenated. noazoic obtained by coupling diazotized 4 - (4'-aminobenzoylamino) -1-hydroxybenzene-2-carboxylic acid with 1-amino-α-methylbenzene and coupling it with 2- (4'- acid aminobenzoylamino) - 5- hydroxynaphthalene-7-! s, ulfonic. Example:
272 parts of 4- (4'-aminob @ enzoylamino) -1-hydroxybenzene-2-carbogylic acid were diazotized in the usual manner and the diazo compound was introduced into an aqueous solution of 10'1 parts of 1-amino-3. -methylbenzene and 125 parts of 30% hydrochloric acid.
It was slowly neutralized with aqueous sodium acetate solution until coupling was complete, which is cm after a few hours, then year. filtered the monoazo-ic dye.
This monoazo dye is then suspended in water, 69 parts of sodium nitrite are added and then acidified with hydrochloric acid. When the diazo: tatio:
n is finished, one copulates in the presence of sodium carbonate with an aqueous solution of 358 parts of 2- (4'-aminobenzoylamino @) - 5-hydroxynaphthalene-7-sulphonic acid and 133 parts of caustic soda. 30%. Coupling is very rapid and the hot dis-azo dye is then precipitated with sodium chloride, filtered and dried.
The coloring agent thus obtained is a dark powder, which dissolves in water to give a red-burgundy solution and in concentrated sulfuric acid to give a blue solution. It dyes cotton and regenerated cellulose a light-solid red-burgundy shade, which, after diazotization on the fibm and development with beta.naphthol, becomes slightly more bluish and considerably more solid in water, wash and sweat.
