Description

Process for the production of insulation material. There are insulation materials known, which consist of condensation products of organic compounds, for. B. phenol with formaldehyde, exist (synthetic resin). From these who the with the addition of fillers such. B. paper, sawdust and the like, produced the desired parts by pressing with the simultaneous action of heat. However, such insulation materials generally have very large dielectric losses, so that they are only of limited use for high-frequency technology.

To reduce the dielectric losses, it has already become known to use quartz sand as a filler. The use of such a filler, however, has disadvantages in relation to the pressing, in that the pressed materials have voids due to the poor flowability of the material. Especially in the case of objects with several paragraphs or ganten, this has a disadvantageous effect in that the material does not get into all corners of the mold during pressing.

To avoid these disadvantages, according to the present invention for the production of insulation material from high molecular weight condensation products, pure quartz is added as filler, which was obtained by grinding quartz solidified from the melt flow.

This measure eliminates the disadvantage of poor flowability, so that perfect shaping is guaranteed even when difficult objects are being produced, since the material flows into all corners of the mold during pressing.

A mixture which, in addition to good flowability, also exhibits particularly good mechanical and electrical properties, consists of 78% quartz of the type mentioned and 22 phenol-formaldehyde condensation product. An insulation material made from such a mixture has high impact and flexural strength. Quartz sand, which is melted and then ground, can be selected as the starting product for the manufacture of the filler.

However, the measures according to the invention have a particularly advantageous effect in that, as starting products, commodities made of pure quartz, e.g. B. retorts, tubes and the like can be used, which are no longer usable for other purposes. These substances can be used as fillers immediately after grinding.

If you see that the pressed substance sticks in the mold, this can be eliminated by adding small amounts of olein.
