Description

Insulating material for electrical lines It is known that polyvinyl chloride has good insulating properties. It has therefore already been suggested to use the polyvinyl chloride as a replacement for rubber insulation, and it became for this purpose mixed with non-volatile solvents to make a soft rubbery To achieve mass. The post-chlorinated polyvinyl chloride, which is known per se, also has it good insulating properties.

B. Quarz, Glas, Glimmer in Frage. It has now been found, surprisingly, that when mixing of post-chlorinated polyvinyl chloride with silicates, expediently in amounts of 5 to 30%, the properties of the post-chlorinated polyvinyl chloride, especially its Insulation ability, can significantly improve. As silicates z. B. Quartz, Glass, mica in question.

In order to achieve an intimate mixture of the polyvinyl chloride with the silicates, the post-chlorinated polyvinyl chloride, which has been made liquid by heating or solvent, is thoroughly kneaded with the fillers and the hard mass that is formed after removal of the solvent by heating or suction is ground to a fine powder. For many purposes it is sufficient if the powdered polyvinyl chloride is intimately mixed with the powdered silicates. Depending on the amount added, products of various uses are created. If, for example, 5% quartz is added to the polyvinyl chloride, the insulating material mixed with a little methylene chloride can be poured at 100 ° C. It can be used for the production of films Compound that is suitable for injection insulation and for the production of molded pieces by pressing. To achieve a high insulation value, the pure, post-chlorinated polyvinyl chloride, which contains 6o to 650/0 chlorine, is used as the base material The insulation value is correspondingly lower, but the polyvinyl chloride is cheaper. For some purposes, it can be advantageous to obtain highly insulating materials, such as mica, in a malleable form A particular advantage is that the production of higher tempe ratures is possible while z. B. the usual synthetic resin mixtures of phenol formaldehyde require temperatures of 16o to 18o ° C, accordingly also require a long cooling time, which makes the product more expensive. As is known, dyes can also be added to the insulating materials for identification purposes.
