Roller foot movable around a vertical axis. The object of the invention is a wheel base movable around a vertical axis, charac terized in that the wheel is fixed on a vertical journal, mounted in a bearing with a concentric bore and carrying an eccentric rod whose upper end has a cylindrical head,
this rod being housed and movable vertically in an eccentric ally of a guide piece which also has a horizontal notch capable of being crossed by said rod and serving as a housing for a ball, all in such a way that 'it is possible to move said bearing away from the guide piece to a position in which the upper face of said cylindrical head is in the plane of the lower face of the notch, position in which said ball can be brought , by tilting the foot, above the said,
* blade, so as to keep the bearing and the guide pin distant from each other, while by tilting the foot in the opposite direction, the ball leaves the top of said head, which allows said head rod to slide in the guide piece, so that the bearing and the guide piece come into their close position, the foot thus being able to present, at will, two different heights.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the roller foot forming the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a section through the vertical axis of the roulette wheel in one of the two positions.
Fig. 2 shows the cut in the other position.
Fig. 3 is a horizontal section made to the right of the horizontal notch of the guide piece.
The foot shown comprises a roller 1 fixed to a vertical journal 2. The latter is housed in a bearing 3 having a concentric bore, in which the head 4 of the journal 3 is housed, this head preventing the journal from leaving the bearing if the latter -Here is raised. The bore of the bearing is closed in its upper part by a plug 5. In the upper face 6 of the bearing 3 is fixed an eccentric rod 7 having a cylindrical head 8. This rod 7 is guided and movable vertically in a guide part. 9 which has a horizontal notch 10 which serves. single ball housing 11.
The rod 7 passes through the notch 10 on one side thereof. The lower face of the notch 10 is provided with a countersink 12, the diameter and depth of which correspond to the head 8 of the rod 7, which allows the upper face of the head to come into the plane of the lower face of the notch, so that it is flat.
In this position of @ the head 8, the ball 11 can be brought, by tilting the foot, above the head 8, which prevents the rod 7 from coming to occupy the position of FIG. 1, the bearing 3 and the guide part 9 then being held in their position remote from each other shown in FIG. 2.
If we tilt the foot in the opposite direction, the ball rolls on the other side of the notch leaving the top of the head 8, which allows the rod 7 to slide in the guide piece 9, the bearing 3 and the guide piece 9 coming into their close position shown in FIG. 1. To keep the bearing 3 and the guide piece 9 on the same axis, these pieces are housed in a tube 13 which is fixed to the guide piece by at least one screw.
A roller foot as described and shown is particularly intended for furniture. In a piece of furniture provided with such feet, it is possible, in the event of displacement, to lengthen the length of the feet by tilting the free feet to one side and then by tilting the free feet to the other side, bring them back to their original length. .
