Machine comprising a device for controlling an endless transmission belt of a shaft mounted on a sliding member. The subject of the invention is a machine comprising a device for controlling an endless transmission belt, a shaft mounted on a sliding member, for example the spindle of the mobile headstock of a lathe or automatic bar turning machine, available Option in which a driving pulley drives a driven pulley, by means of the endless transmission belt, the two strands of which pass through a single opening formed in the sliding member.
Machines comprising this kind of control device, for example that shown partially in FIG. 5, are already known and present on known machines of the type of that shown partially in FIG. 4 and in which a single strand of the belt of the control device passes through an opening of the sliding member, while the other passes alongside, the advantage that they can be arranged so that one can fit the belt without having to open it first. This is particularly advantageous in the case where an endless braided or glued-end belt is used.
The arrangement in which the two strands of the belt pass through a single opening of the sliding member can therefore be applied with advantage, for example, to high-precision lathes and automatic machines, in which the belts are preferably used without end braided or with glued ends, in order to avoid the vibrations and the fluttering that the use of a belt with staples or clasp, which would be forced in the case of a machine such as that represented in fig. 4, would make it inevitable. The known machines of the type shown in FIG. 5 however have the following disadvantage:
If, as is necessary to ensure good traction and flawless operation of the sliding member, a driven pulley of relatively large diameter is used, this results in an inordinate width of the sliding member in relation to: <i its length and, consequently, to insufficient guidance of this organ.
The object of the invention is to make it possible to remedy this. disadvantage and, to this end, the machine which is the object of this invention is characterized in that the sliding member carries a deflector roller provided with guide flanges, over which passes one of the strands, preferably the conductive strand , endless transmission belt.
The invention is applicable in particular, but not exclusively, to automatic turning machines.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention constituted by an automatic turning machine.
Fig. 1 represents, more or less matically dried, a cross section of this turn.
Fig. 2 is a partial sectional view, along the axis of the rotating spindle called the tower.
The, fig. 3 is; a view similar to the previous one, but without the transmission belt, the driven pulley and certain bearings; however, this figure is given intentionally; on a reduced scale compared to the previous figures.
The fi-. 4 and 5 show, partially in section, for documentary purposes, the two known machines mentioned in the preamble of the description.
In the drawing (fig. 1 to, 3), we can see the frame of the lathe, comprising the cradle 6 carried by the base 7 '. This frame also includes an oil retaining basin 7. The control device comprises the driving pulley 8, the driven pulley 9, the endless transmission belt 10 and the deflector roller 11. The shaft driven 21 is driven by the tailstock 12 which can slide, pa rallying to the axis of this shaft 21, in a dovetail slide 13 called cradle 6.
The driving pulley 8 is wedged on a control shaft 14 mounted in two bearings 15, respectively 16 (FIG. 2), the two rollers ts <t balls. The bearing 15 comprises a part manufactured with the base 7 ′, in which its ball bearing is housed. The second bearing 16, which supports the rear end of the shaft 14, comprises a flange 17 removably fitted in a round opening 18 formed in the wall of the base 7 '.
The ball bearing of this bearing 16 is held in the flange 17 by a nut 20, and the part bearing the internal raceway of this ball bearing is fixed to the shaft 14 by a nut 19 screwed onto the end of said tree.
Pulley 8 rotates in the direction indicated by an arrow in fig. 1 and drives the idly mounted pulley 9, by means of bearings <<balls 26 and 26 ', on a sleeve of a removable bearing 22 fitted in a bore (the doll 12. In the tubular bearing 22 is adjusted the driven hollow shaft 21 called spindle, of the tailstock 12, by the intermediary of ball bearings 23 and 24 held by two nuts 25 and 25 ', said hollow shaft passing freely in the sleeve of the bearing.
The pulley 9 does not eoniporte no guidiig cheeks, e and drives the shaft 21 by means of a pin plate 27 keyed to this shaft and of which; the pegs are engaged in corresponding holes in the pulley.
The transmission belt which is either: a braided belt, or a belt with glued ends, passes, through its two strands, through a single opening 28 made in the sole of the headstock, which sole forms a slide with edges in dovetail and which is provided with two ears 29 supporting the axis 30 of a devial roller: eur 11. provided with cheeks, 31. On this roller passes the conductive strand 10 'of the transmission belt 10, so that this strand is deflected in the direction of the driven strand 10 ".
Therefore, the two strands of the belt are close to one another and require only a relatively narrow opening to pass through the sole of the doll and the cradle 6 carrying the slide 13 thereof. this. The longitudinal opening 32 of the cradle 6, through which the two strands of the. belt, merges at its rear end, with a notch 33 of the cradle, which allows to remove from the frame the tailstock with its deflector roller 11. The latter, thanks to its cheeks, easily drives the transmission belt which obediently follows the reciprocating rectilinear movement of the headstock and of the pulley 9 which however has no cheeks.
The diameter of this pulley can be, despite the relative narrowness of the slide 13, and therefore the openings 28 and 32, relatively large, an essential condition for ensuring good traction for the belt and perfect guiding for the headstock.
The arrangement of the lathe described advantageously makes it possible to use an endless transmission belt, braided or with glued ends, because it offers the possibility of easily removing the belt from the lathe and putting it back in place without having to open it. To do this, it suffices, on the one hand, to remove the flange 17 and the other elements of the outer bearing 16 from the control shaft 14, and, on the other hand, to remove as a block from the tailstock 12, the bearing 22, pulley 9 and ball bearings 23, 24, 26, 26 ', the diameter of the pulley being smaller than the adjusting bore of the headstock 12. FIG. 3 shows the tour described without the bearing 16, the removable bearing 22 and the pulley 9, these elements and components being assumed to be removed.
Consequently, it is possible to remove the transmission belt from the lathe either through the round opening 18 in the wall of the base, or through the bore of the tailstock, to replace it with another, in the event of breakage for example. The new belt will be introduced preferably through the bore of the doll, then passed through the opening 28 of this doll, then engaged on the pulley 8 through the opening 18. Finally, the bearing 16 and the bearing 22 are put back in place, so that the pulley 9, mounted on the sleeve of this bearing, engages in the upper loop of the transmission belt.
The lathe shown in the drawing is a bar turning machine, in which the spindle 21 of the headstock is tubular to provide passage for the bar turning. But the machine according to the invention could include a solid controlled shaft and mounted with its pulley on a simple sliding member, with or without removable bearing, arranged as shown in the drawing.
