Lorsque Z'ouverture j est en libre com munication avec le côté d'amont de la rigole a (position de la fig. 1),Iadépression alors créée à l'intérieur de la pièce i fait monter le verre dans celle-ci;
Molten glass cutter. The subject of the invention is a so-called "feeder" molten glass cutting machine intended for the automatic supply of machines used for the manufacture of glassware. Its purpose is to establish a -dbiteuse which makes it possible to properly regulate the temperature of the glass debited, with a view to ensuring the desired homogeneity of the glass and, consequently, the regularity of its flow and. of its quality.
There are, as we know, several types of cutting machines which, generally, comprise a piston or other similar member with reciprocating vertical movement, functioning as a pump and pushing the glass, at the desired times, towards an outlet orifice of the debtor. But, with all these known cutting machines, it happens that, when there is, for whatever reason, a variation in the flow rate of the glass,
one inevitably causes a variation -de the speed of the glass .in the -channel in which said delivery member is housed. Excellent channel isolation cannot even. avoid the fall.
of temperature -du glass during its journey, so that any variation .de -flow of the glass necessarily entails a variation in temperature at the cutter. To overcome this drawback, it has been proposed to heat the glass by means of burners generally supplied with gas or liquid fuel, or else by means of electrical heating devices.
However, any reheating of the glass presents a great drawback by the very reason of the poor conductivity of the glass. In fact, the flame of the burner, licking the glass, heats its upper part by acting only slightly on its lower part. Even, in spite of the wise arm means employed, either by using the movement.
even .de the -delivery member, or by using a rotary sleeve surrounding this member, the respective hot and cold glass parts, passing through the outlet orifice, mix little or badly with each other. of. so that the glass coming out of the cutter has thus lost some of its fluidity and its homogeneity and that it becomes practically unsuitable for the correct supply of the manufacturing machines.
The purpose of the debtor who is the subject of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks. To this end, the principle of this debiter consists in making the molten glass circulate permanently between a sampling point of a source of fluid glass and a point of return to this source, and in placing a debtor member, so that the variation or stopping said flow does not cause any appreciable variation in the speed of the circulation and, consequently, no appreciable drop in temperature, the glass thus retaining all the fluidity and homo < U> genealogy desirable.
In a preferred embodiment, on the path of the molten glass is provided, to ensure its circulation in all circumstances, a drive member whose speed can be adjusted <<will and which thus allows to vary. glass circulation speed as needed and. mainly, according to the. nature of this and according to the flow of the debtor body.
In a practical embodiment, the cutter comprises a feed channel from a melting basin and. making return to this same basin and in which are arranged, on the one hand. the debtor body and. on the other hand, the member for setting the glass in motion.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example. a form of execution of the debtor being the subject. of the invention. as well as details of two variants.
Fig. 1 this a vertical flow of said embodiment, showing the end of the basin of a melting furnace. Fig. ? is a horizontal section.
Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view of a pneumatic control of a lens dragging member; the. wire ;. 4 is there. plan view of an ice cream dispenser for this order. Tees fig. 5 and 6 are views, in section., Of the drive organs that present two variants of: 11a, sawing machine.
As can be seen in these figures, the biting machine shown comprises a curved or bent channel re a, starting at a 'from the basin b of a melting furnace or other source of fluid glass, and returning to a $ in this same basin. The glass thus follows, in the feed channel a, the path indicated by the arrows d (fi ... 2).
In the mediating part of the channel a, for example in its curved part, is arranged a supply piston e, with reciprocating vertical movement, the lower end of which, of suitable shape, can propel the glass through an evacuation orifice f stored in the bottom of the channel or, preferably, in a part h attached to this bottom.
Any suitable mechanism can be provided to communicate to the piston e, the. known manner, its upward and downward movement. The piston e can. as shown, be surrounded by a rotating cylindrical jacket, g, setting ea. movement by gears or any other suitable means, and which a. to stir the veire around the piston.
The piston e can also itself, and for the same purpose, be animated with a movement. - of rotation.
In the channel a is also arranged a lens drive member. In the form tl'exéeution shown in fig. 1.
2. 3 and 4, this member is constituted by a hollow cylindrical part i provided at its base with an opening j and the interior cavity of which is suitably connected to a pipe h., In communication with a source of water. air intake.
A suitable mechanism makes it possible to impart to the part i a rotational movement, intermittent or continuous.
A distributor, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, regulates, during rotation, the distribution of the depression. The rotating part comprises for this purpose, at its upper part, a glass l provided with an elongated orifice l1,
while the upper part has a connection port in with the suction pipe k and an orifice n opening freely to. the atmosphere.
We understand. that the rotational movement of the lower part, controlled by the bevel gear o, automatically causes the. : distribution of the depression in the drive unit i and its setting to the atmosphere.
When the opening j is in free communication with the upstream side of the channel a (position of FIG. 1), the depression then created inside the part i causes the glass to rise therein;
then, when this part having turned -from 180, the opening j is in communication with the downstream side of the channel, the elimination of the internal depression caused by the venting to the atmosphere at m will produce the descent of the channel. glass in room i and, consequently, the passage of the corresponding mass of glass in the channel circuit.
The rotation (intermittent or continuous) of the organ i-j will ensure. therefore an intermittent advancement movement of the glass - in the channel. Any other means than those described could, of course, be employed to automatically produce the distribution of the vacuum in the drive member i-j.
The lens drive member can also be mechanically operated and, for example, very simply constituted by a rotary member with continuous or reciprocating movement, in particular. Of the kind of a paddle wheel or paddle wheel, single or multiple, such as p (fig. 5) or q (fig. 6), the movement of which causes the continuous or intermittent advancement of the glass in the feed channel to the cutter.
This drive member of the molten glass, either of the -des type, fig. 1 to 4, or of the type of fig. 5 or 6, or -of any other suitable type, can be placed at any point whatsoever of the feed channel either before the delivery piston, or preferably after this piston, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
This organ will ensure the constant, intermittent or continuous circulation of the glass in the supply channel. We understand that: thanks to this constant circulation of the glass, which can moreover be regulated at will by varying the operating speed of the drive member, we will always obtain :
maintaining -du glass in the feed channel at the desired temperature to ensure its fluidity and its homogeneity, even during slowdowns or even stops -of -flow of the, weed machine.
