Lorsque le peigne arrive au bout de son mouvement en avant, le bras de manivelle s_ vient en ligne avec la biellette t et il n'y a qu'un très faible mouve ment du coulisseau k pour un mouvement angulaire eonsidérable du bras de mani- velle s,;
Threshing mechanism for loom. This invention relates to a threshing mechanism for a loom comprising a frozen comb not taking any part in the threshing operation.
This mechanism is characterized by -a threshing comb which penetrates-into the warp threads near the freeze comb and from above, moves to the threshing joint and performs the threshing and then withdraws from the warp threads. by an upward movement and returns to its point of entry to accomplish a new threshing operation.
In one embodiment of the mechanism, the threshing comb moves away from the threshing position by one. combined upward backward movement.
The teeth of the threshing comb may enter the opening of the chain immediately opposite those of the fixed comb or, in the case where the latter are offset, immediately adjacent to the rear row of teeth, so that 'they come behind any strand or loose strands which could be found in front of the frozen comb.
The comb can penetrate the opening of the chain when it is closed or catch up with the top layer of warp threads as they move downward to the closed position, thus extending the portion of the cycle. loom during which the shuttle can be in the opening of the chain.
The comb can be driven by a reciprocating movement by elements sliding on rods placed on the opposite edges of the chain, and receive a pivoting movement to bring it into the chain and to take it out after beating.
The shuttle of the loom may be of the free or flying type, in which no control is exerted on its movements between the shuttle boxes, or it may be of the captive or servo type, as used in needle machines and with narrow fabrics.
The appended drawing represents, by way of examples, two embodiments of the mechanism forming the subject of the invention. The fi-. 1 and 2 are elevational views, in two different operating positions, of the first embodiment.
Fig. 3 is a view similar to FIG. 2, showing the second embodiment, and FIG. 4 is a detail seen in section along A # - B of fig. 3.
In fig. 1 and 2, a designates the slide on which the shuttle b moves through the opening of the chain. The upper and lower layers of warp yarns c and d form the opening of the warp. e designates the fixed comb mounted on the slide. These two elements are fixed and take no part in the threshing operation.
The threshing is carried out by a comb f, the teeth of which have the same spacing as those of the fixed comb e.
The comb f is removably mounted by means of screws g on arms la (one on each side of the loom) fixed on a shaft i. on which are also fixed arms j, so that the arms fa and j rotate together around the axis of shaft i.
This -dernier is supported by bearings in sliders k, one at each end of the Î- shaft, the sliders being able to move along rods, guide each one by a bracket 2r. fixed on the slide a and by a console o of the spar of the loom.
Each slide k is driven back and forth along its, guide rod na by a link p articulated on the shaft i and. on an arm q pivoted in r in the side members of the loom, the arm q being driven by an oscillatory movement by means of a crank button s @and a rod t. The tree of.
crank is denoted by s1. On a boss 21, of the connecting rod t is articulated one of the ends of a connecting rod v which is articulated, on the other hand, on an arm 2t, with an angled lever pivoted on the arm q , the other arm x of the elbow lever being connected by a link y to the aforementioned j arm.
Fig. 1 shows the comb f as it enters the closed opening of the. chain. It can be seen that its end is close to the fixed comb, so that the teeth of the threshing comb can penetrate into the spaces produced between the threads of the chain by the teeth of the fixed comb. The end of the threshing comb then follows the path indicated by trace 4.
When this comb reaches the threshing position shown in tick. 2, the. chain opened and there. shuttle can start its return run through the opening in the chain.
When the comb reaches the end of its forward movement, the crank arm s_ comes in line with the connecting rod t and there is only a very slight movement of the slide k for a considerable angular movement of the crank arm. velle s ,;
but, during this angular movement, the boss 2c of the rod t gives a relatively considerable angular movement to the elbow lever w, x and to the arm j, hence it follows that the comb turns in the opposite direction of the wings of a watch around the shaft i and thus undergoes an upward movement which moves it away from the upper layer of warp threads,
as it moves back to a position adjacent to the fixed comb, where a reverse action lowers the comb into the chain opening.
It can be seen that the fact that the threshing comb is arranged so as to penetrate into the threads of the chain coming from above. avoids giving a special shape to the slide a and avoids it. need to hold the shuttle against the fixed comb in its course due to the need to reduce the dimensions of: the slide and to provide free spaces there to allow the teeth of the threshing comb to come very close to the teeth of the comb fixed in order to allow the teeth to penetrate properly between the threads of the chain.
In addition, the teeth of the threshing comb may begin to enter the opening in the chain before the shuttle has completely left it, which is not the case when the teeth of the comb enter the opening. opening of the chain by tray, in which case the boat must be out of the space of the chain before the comb can enter it.
In the embodiment shown in fig: 3, the sliders k are driven by a back and forth movement on the rods m (one on each side of the loom) by two rods 5 connected to a crank button 6 of a crank arm 7 .activated by a shaft of my level 8.
The rod 5 carries a pivot 9 fixed eccentrically relative to the button of my level 6 and on which is articulated the end of united rod 10 which -is coupled to the arm j.
With this arrangement, as with that of figs 1 and 9, the arm j receives a considerable angular movement at the ends of the stroke of the slides k, in order to lift the threshing comb out of opening the chain when threshing is finished and re-inserting it to the fixed comb e. The course of the comb tip is indicated by line 4, as in fig. 1 and 2.
With the mechanisms described, the portion of the loom cycle occupied by the shuttle stroke can be increased to about 270 (out of 860), so that the cycle can be speeded up without the need to increase. the speed of the shuttle. As is known, it is impossible to increase the speed of the shuttle in a safe and economical manner.
