Rebenerator.
Vine generator. It has already been proposed to use a regenerator in a hot air engine. Such mounted between the warm and the cold part of the engine Re generators have the purpose of cooling the medium flowing from the warm to the cold side of the engine as much as possible and releasing the absorbed heat to the medium flowing in the opposite direction. The use of a regenerator increases the efficiency of such an engine.
The present invention relates to a regenerator which is particularly suitable for use in a hot gas engine.
There are regenerators known whose filling has one or more existing elements made of wire. These elements can be made of wire mesh, for example. It is also known to obtain the elements simply by winding the wire to form a coil, which finished coils are assembled in the regenerator chamber.
However, these known Re generators have the disadvantage that the individual coil-shaped wound elements cannot be handled without the support body of the coil, because the coil pattern has no connection.
The regenerator according to the invention, the filling of which also has at least one element made of wire, in which the wire has been wound into a coil ge, is characterized. from the fact that the element has crossing wires. Coils with intersecting wires, for example honeycomb coils or the like, have a certain connection even without a special carrier, so that elements consisting of such a coil or made from it can be used without permanent carrier support.
In many cases it is sufficient to give the coils tightly wound on a carrier a certain coherence by impregnation and then to produce the various individual elements in any desired shape by cutting them up.
Preferably, several such elements are put together in the regenerator chamber for filling and then the binding agent is dissolved. The invention also relates to a method for producing the regenerator according to the invention.
With reference to the accompanying drawings who the following example execution forms of the regenerator according to the inven tion and an embodiment of the inven tion method for producing the regenerator described.
Fig. 1 shows a planar development of an annular coil to which the wire material was wound, which is to form the filling. The coil axis is indicated by A-A in the figure. If D is the outside diameter of the one in Fig. coil is shown, so is @c . D the circumference of this coil. From Fig. 1 it can be seen how the wire, which in the present case has a thickness of 0.03 mm and is made of chrome nickel be, runs in the coil. In the order of the Zif given in this figure, the wire is wound to the coil.
It can be seen from the figure that the honeycomb coil pattern (cross coil) is obtained by this type of winding. As a result, there are openings B between the wires which, for the sake of clarity, are shown considerably enlarged in relation to the diameter of the wire used. In general, the dimension a between two adjacent turns is approximately d to 5 times the diameter of the wire used, this diameter preferably being at most 0.5 mm.
Fig. 2 shows schematically the coil from which you have the development of Figure 1 he has; After the coil shown in FIG. 2 has been wound from the wire material, it is impregnated with a binding agent, for example wax or paraffin, and then cut through according to the radial plane Y and spread out in one plane. The development according to FIG. 1 is then obtained, which is also shown in FIG. 3 on a smaller scale.
Pieces of the desired shape are cut out of the development. which are arranged in the regenerator chamber and in this way form the filling. In Fig. '3' the outlines of three pieces of the Fül treatment are shown, which are formed as ring sectors. Fig. I illustrates how one can build a ring-shaped filling in a regenerator from such pieces.
The mentioned pieces are placed next to and on top of each other like the stones of a brick chimney. that the vertical joints between the piece levels are offset in the successive layers. After the pieces have been piled up in the regenerator chamber and pressed together, the impregnating agent is removed from the pieces using a suitable solvent, for example gasoline.
Fig. 5 shows yet another way of forming a coil with crossing wires, namely a disc-shaped coil which is suitable as such or divided in the regenerator chamber as a filling element. to serve. Here, the wire is wound in the manner of the so-called star thread bobbins between pins arranged in a circle, in such a way that a circular opening remains in the center of the bobbin. After the bobbin has been wound.
it is again impregnated with a binding agent, in the regenerator chamber, if necessary, arranged divided and pressed together with other such elements; Finally, the binder is removed using a solvent.
