Set including a beehive.
The present invention relates to an assembly comprising a beehive, which is characterized in that the hive rests on at least two support devices, one of which constitutes a pivot, while, in the normal position, it rests freely on the hive. 'other, and in that it comprises a weighing device on which a determined part of the weight of the hive acts, when it has, on the one hand, pivoted slightly around the first support and, on the other hand, left the second, this weighing device then giving an indication making it possible to assess the variation in the weight of the hive.
Figs. 1 to 3 of the appended drawing represent schematically, by way of example, one embodiment and two variants of the assembly forming the subject of the invention.
In the embodiment according to fig. 1, the hive 1C rests on two support devices; the first of these devices includes a knife. t 11 fixed at its lower part near its front edge 12. The sharp blade of this knife rests in a groove which has a fixed support 13. A single knife 11 is visible in the drawing, but in practice two knives will be provided. in alignment, one on each side of the anterior part of the hive.
The second support device consists of a support 14 on which the rear part 15 of the hive rests freely when the latter is in the position shown in FIG. 1. It is easy to see that by lifting the rear part 15 of the hive, the hive is made to oscillate around the cutting edge of the knife (s) 11.
The posterior part 15 of the hive is provided, in the example considered, with a bracket 16, the free end 17 of which on the side which extends the base of the hive towards the rear is connected by a rod 18 to the hive. 'one of the ends 19 of a dynamometer or load cell 20. The other end 21 of this dynamometer is connected by a rod 2'2 to one of the ends of a lever 23 pivoting at 24 on a support 25.
In the position of the members shown in FIG. 1, the dynamometer 20 is not stressed by the weight of the hive. On the other hand, if we act vertically from top to bottom on the end 26 of the lever 23, we move away the ends 19 and 21 of the dynamometer which is then stressed by a part of the weight of the hive, because the rear part 15 of this hive is then raised slightly above the support 14. The indication of the dynamometer when equilibrium is reached gives a measurement of the weight of the hive, taking into account, of course, the ratio of distances between, on the one hand, the vertical passing through the center of gravity of the hive (according to which the weight of the hive acts) and the pivot axis at 11 and, on the other hand,
the vertical passing through the dynamometer (and according to which the force applied to this dynamometer is exerted when the hive is slightly raised above the support 14) and the pivot axis of the hive.
The dynamometer can be directly graduated in kilos. It can be easily removable, to allow it to hang on the rods 18 and 22 only when needed.
A retaining device is provided to keep the weighing device just described in the active position. It comprises a pawl 27 pivoting on the lever 23 and biased by a spring 28 to engage with wolf teeth 29 when the end 26 of the lever 23 is lowered. This device is intended, as can easily be seen , to maintain the lever 23 in the position for which the hive is raised above the support 14. By releasing this pawl by hand, the members are returned to the position shown in the drawing.
In the variant according to fig. 2, the weighing device comprises a balance constituted by a beam 30 resting on a support 31 by means of a knife 32. One of the ends of the beam is connected by a rod 33 to the end 17 of the square 16 The other end of the flail is provided with a plate 34 intended to receive weights 35. When the hive presses on the support 14, the weighing device is in the inactive position. By loading the plate 34 by means of weights 35, the beam 30 is brought into a position of equilibrium in which the hive is raised slightly above the support 14.
The weights then balance that part of the weight of the hive which acts on the weighing device and which, as in the first embodiment, gives a measure of the weight of the hive and, therefore, of the quantity of honey. contained in this hive (taking into account, here too, the ratio of the lever arms).
In the variant according to fig. 3, the end 17 of the beam 16 acts on one of the plates 36 of a balance, the other plate 37 of which is provided to receive weights. When this balance is brought into the equilibrium position by loading the plate 37, at the same time the hive 10 is raised above the support 14, as in the case of FIG. 2.
One could also use as a weighing device, a Roman scale.
The embodiment described as well as its two variants allow, by an appropriate calibration of the weighing device (gara- dation or weight) to give directly the weight of the hive (or the weight of honey which it contains) by an operation very simple.
