Le changement de disque est commandé par le dispositif représenté â 1a fig. 4. Sur un axe 35 est monté un petit excentrique 54 pourvu d'un maneton 55 engagé dans une i glissière d'un levier 56 pivoté à l'une de ses extrémités et comportant à l'autre un loge ment pour un ergot 57 d'un levier 5$;
Talking machine comprising a disc changer of the type with automatic disc change and with a stack of discs carried by lateral supports. The present invention relates to a talking machine comprising a disc changer of the type with automatic disc change and with a stack of discs carried by lateral supports.
In a machine of this kind, the movements of the various components must be carried out intermittently, with the plate of the machine continuously rotating.
To this end, in the machine according to the invention a separate cam is provided for the control of each distinct movement of the pick-up, as well as for the control of each operation necessary for the change of discs, all these cams being rigidly fixed. ment on the same support actuated by the motor of the turntable, by means of a clutch whose engagement is controlled by the pick-up entering the last groove of the disc, and the release by a cam placed on said support, all the movements necessary for changing discs being controlled during one revolution of this support.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the machine which is the subject of the invention.
Figs. 1 and 2 are plan views of the ganes placed under the machine plate; fig. â shows components placed under the casing plate of the machine; fig. 4 shows members of the disc change control device, as well as smaller-scale hand controls, and FIGS. 5 and 6 are detail views.
In the drawing, some organs are not shown for simplicity. This is how the arm carrying the pick-up is not visible, but only an arm 1 which is integral with it.
The shaft carrying the plate is indicated at 2 with its stop 3.
The arm 1 comprises a lug 4 engaged with the inclined edge 5 of a part 6 mounted on the axis of a control lever 7. This part 6 is subjected to the action of a lug 34 which brings it back in. the position shown in FIG: 1, as will be explained below. It has two grooves 8 and 9 concen trical to its axis of rotation: Through the first pass, a guide 10 integral with a support plate 11 of all of the organs shown and in the second; which is shorter than the first, passes a lug 12 of the arm 7, under the head of which is clamped an elastic washer 12a.
On the arm 7 is mounted a small oscillating arm 13 subjected to the action of a spring 14 which tends to cause it to rotate counterclockwise. It comprises a projection 15 curved downwards to engage with an oscillating lever 16 pivoted at 17a on a pivot integral with the plate 11 under the arm 7. This lever comprises a nose 17 with an inclined surface 18 and its movement is controlled by a stop 19, of the arm 7.
On plate 11 is; on the other hand, mounted a second oscillating lever 20 subjected to the action of a spring 21 which tends to rotate it in the direction of clockwise. This lever 20 also comprises a nose 22 with an inclined surface 23 and this nose is disposed opposite an end 24 of the lever 16.
The free end of the arm 7 is long enough to be on the path of the stop 3 during the oscillation of this arm.
The lever 20 carries on its underside a lug 26 which engages with an articulated lever 27 under the casing plate of the machine: This lever 27; which is subjected to the action of a return spring and which is inclined relative to the path traveled by the lug 26 during the movement of the lever, is itself engaged with a control lever 28 integral with a axis 41, to cause the coupling of a shaft 29 by means of an arm 25 rotating freely on the axis 41. The shaft 29 is actuated by the motor shaft 2 and rotates continuously with it.
On the shaft 29 is mounted a ratchet clutch device 31 of a known type. The shaft 29 comprises two cardan shafts 32, which makes it possible to provide for variations in the respective positions of the engine and of a support comprising control cams. A pinion 30, mounted idle on the shaft 29, but integral with 31, is engaged with a toothed wheel 33, on the axis 35 of which are mounted said cams controlling the various movements of the pick-up arm and the change of discs.
These cams are as follows: 36 and 37 cooperating with a lug 38 of an arm 39 integral with the bran of the pick-up. These cams cause the lateral movements of the pick-up arm.
40; which is the cam controlling the clutch 31 by means of an arm 42 mounted on the shaft 41 to which it is integral; this arm 42 controls the lever 25 by pressing against an ear 25a of this lever.
43, which is the cam controlling the lifting movements of the pick-up arm in cooperation with a lever 44 mounted on a pin 45 carrying an arm 46 provided with an inclined plane 47 on which rests one end of the pick-up. a sliding rod 48 on the other end of which the pick-up arm rests.
49; which is the cam controlling the return to the armed position of the clutch release device and which cooperates for this purpose with an arm 50 fixed to a shaft 51 carrying another arm 52 subjected to the action of a spring reminder 53 and carrying the er- i pot 34.
The disc change is controlled by the device shown in fig. 4. On a pin 35 is mounted a small eccentric 54 provided with a crank pin 55 engaged in a slide of a lever 56 pivoted at one of its ends and comprising at the other a housing for a pin 57 d 'a $ 5 lever;
as well as a guide device 56a for returning the lug 57 to its housing from all the positions of the lever 56. The lever 58 controls; by means of the members 59, 60 and 61, the angular displacement of two disc holder columns 62.
The cam control device, described and shown in the drawing, is mounted between two plates and constitutes a whole which is fixed independently of any other member, under the casing plate.
The following manual control devices are provided: a) An oscillating lever 63 carrying at its free end a lug engaged with a slide of the lever 58. This lever 63 is subjected to the action of a spring 64, causing it to oscillate. in two extreme positions on either side of a dead point. One of the positions is that shown in solid lines in FIG. 4, in which the lug 57 is engaged in the housing of the arm 56 to automatically cause the disc change.
In its other position, the arm 63 brings the lever 58 to the position indicated in phantom and in which the lug 57 is no longer in engagement with the lever 56. In this case, the automatic disc change does not take place. more.
b) An oscillating lever 65 similar to 63 and controlling a sliding rod 66. In the position shown, the end of the rod 66 is located opposite the lug 67 of the clutch lever 25. This lever cannot therefore not to move to cause the engagement of the components 31. In its other extreme position, the arm 65 brings the rod 66 into the position indicated in phantom lines, in which the lug 67 no longer meets its end, thus so that the clutch is controlled automatically.
c) An arm 69 actuated by a pin 70 and articulated on a sliding rod 68 whose curved end is located opposite an extension 71 of the lever 16. In this position, indicated in FIG. 4, the rod 68 leaves the arm 16 free to move from the position shown in FIG. 1 to that of FIG. 2. If the axle 70 is rotated, the rod 68 pulls on the end 71 of the lever 16 and causes the automatic triggering of the positive device without the pick-up arm reaching the final groove.
On the other hand, there is also still provided, at the end of the cam 36, a spring 72 constituting an elastic projection accompanying the pick-up arm as it travels through the first streaks; thus the pick-up arm is always pushed automatically into the first groove of the disc.
The operation of the machine shown and described is as follows: The machine motor drives shaft 2 and therefore shaft 29, so that the latter rotates continuously.
When the pick-up is placed on a disc carried by the platform, it gradually drives, by its arm 1, the angular displacement of the part 6 which drives the arm 7 by friction so as to bring it to the less in the last part of its movement, on the way to the stop 3 of the shaft, 2.
At each revolution of this stop, the arm 7 -is pushed back until the displacement, following the arrival of the pick-up in the final groove of the disc, is large enough to allow the small pivoting lever i 13 to pass over the end of the nose 17. Thus, on the next passage of the stop 13, the arm 7 drives the lever 16 in its movement. The latter pivots at 17a and takes the position shown in FIG. 2. This movement of the lever 16 allows the oscillation of the lever 20 under the action of its spring 21.
By its lug 26, the lever 20 acts on the levers 27, 28 and 25, causing the engagement of the members 31, so that the pinion 3'0 comes integral with the shaft 29 and rotates while dragging the wheel 33 controlling the movement of cams 36, 37, 40, 43, and 49 which initiate the cycle of operations necessary for moving the pick-up arm, changing discs, replacing the pick-up on the new disc and the automatic disengagement of the components 31.
The manual control devices described (fig. 4) allow: a) Using the control device 56, 57, 58, 63 ', to repeat a disc from any position of the pick-up on the disc . In fact, for there to be training and control of the columns, the lug 57 must be engaged. in the narrow part of the light of the lever 56 (position in solid lines).
If, on the other hand, by the operation of 6'3 this lug 57 is brought into the flared part of the slot of the lever 56 (position in phantom lines), the movement of the columns 62 is no longer controlled.
b) Using levers 65, 66, it is possible to transform the automatic disc changer into a simple record player, since the lever 66 prevents the device. clutch control to operate.
This gives the possibility of playing on a machine designed to automatically change 25 cm discs, 30 cm discs as on an ordinary record player, the pick-up arm being able to be moved at will. c) By levers 68, and 69 manual release of the clutch control device, which makes it possible not to wait for the end of a disc to move on to the next.
On the other hand, a positive device has also been provided to prevent that if the switch for the supply current of the motor is actuated during a cycle of operations commanded by the camshaft 35, the device is not activated. stops before the cycle is finished, that is to say that all the organs have returned to their rest position.
This device is shown on a smaller scale in FIGS. 5 and 6 of the drawing. It can be seen that on the clutch lever 25 is mounted an arm 75 made of insulating material and carrying at its end a contact piece 76. This piece 76 is located in view of two contact spells 77 connected to wires 78 and 79 which are connected in parallel to the circuit of the motor M controlled by a manual switch 80 as shown in fig. 6.
When the clutch lever 25 is actuated to allow coupling of the shaft 29 to the pinion 30 controlling the rotation of the shaft 35, at the same time it closes the switch 76, 77 by engaging the workpiece. contact with the corresponding springs.
It keeps this position until the cycle of operations controlled by shaft 35 is completed: If, after the start of a cycle of operations, the manual switch 80 of the motor circuit M ( fig. 6) to open this circuit, the motor continues to be supplied by wires 78 and 79 and by switch 76-77, until lever 25 returns to its position of rest at the end of the operating cycle and opens contact 76-77.
At this moment, the engine is controlled only by the manual switch 80 which is open and the engine stops, while the pick-up is completely free in the starting position.
