According to Fig. 1 of the drawing, the loading lighting device 1 is attached to the back of a sewing machine. a fabric plate 2, a frame with stand 3, a sewing arm 4, a head 5, a support arm 6 and a cover plate 8 has.
In FIGS. 2 and 3 particularly advantageous fastening means for the lighting device on sewing machines are shown. These means include, among other things, a support arm 6 and a support bracket 10. The support arm 6 is fitted into a recess 7 in the frame under the cover plate 8, which closes the viewing opening 8a in the stand 3, and is fitted in this recess by means of a single screw 9 solidifies.
At the other end of the support arm 6, the support bracket 10 is adjustably attached by means of a single screw 12, the outer end of which is between two ribs 11, which is located on the lower of two parts of the lighting device described below. A screw 48, which passes through a slot 50 in the support bracket 10, is screwed into the lower, outer semi-cylindrical part 44 of the lighting device, gestat tet rotation of the same within the limits of the slot 50 and holds the support bracket 10 (Fig. 3).
In this way, the lighting device is kept adjustable and lockable on the machine frame and extends in the hori zontal direction along the back of the sewing arm 4 of the same.
The lighting device itself, as shown in FIG. 4, has an upper, trough-shaped screen part 13 and a lower, frame-shaped part 14 serving as a lens carrier, both of which have an elongated shape and are made of synthetic resin or some other suitable, deformable, electrically insulating press material are produced and can be fitted into one another along the horizontal dividing line 15.
The two parts are held together by means of the spring washers 16 and 17 and a screw 18, which sets an opening 14a in the front end of the frame part 14 and is screwed into a thread 13a in the screen part 13 (see also FIG. 11).
The screen part 13 has at one end a semi-cylindrical switch housing 19 (Fig. 4 and 7), which contains a switch mechanism which has the contact springs 20 and 21 and a rotary contact body 22 (Fig. 8). In a recess, formed by the half 48a in the screen part and the half 49 in the lens support part, a metal lamp thread base 46 is arranged with slots 51, into which tabs 45 of these parts engage.
These hold the threaded base in the lighting device when the screen part and the lens carrier part are joined together.
To turn on and off a screwed into the threaded base 46 lamp 24, a knob 23 is provided which is perpendicular to the upper housing part and allows the rotary contact 22 of the switch mechanism to operate.
The screen part 13 and the lens carrier part 14 are joined together along a horizontal dividing line by means of a light-tight joint (FIGS. 5 and 10). This joint has ribs 25 on the screen part that fit into associated recesses 26. fit the inner edge of the frame part of the lens carrier part and thereby prevent the escape of light from the inside of the lighting device to the outside at these points.
A semi-cylindrical reflector 27, preferably made of metal, which is arranged between the screen part 13 and the lamp 24, has laterally projecting tabs 28 which lie in recesses 29 in the lens carrier part 14. These tabs are held between the overlying walls of the recesses 29 and the underlying walls 47 of the recesses 30 of the lens carrier part and thus secure the reflector 27 in its correct position with respect to the lamp 24.
The lens 33 has laterally protruding edges 32 (FIG. 10) which are slidable on guide ribs 31, which extend along the edges on the inside of the lens support part 14 and are held by the edges 25 of the screen part 13 which are opposite the bar. The rear end 36 of the lens 33 is flat and rests against the projections 37 (Fig. 11) of the lens carrier part, which form an end stop for the lens.
A recess 43 at the front end of the lens 33 is held resiliently in the position of use on the lighting device by a downward end of a spring lock 41 which is in a slot 42 (Fig. 6) below the head of the screw 18. This creates means for easy insertion and removal of the lens in BEZW. from the lighting device by simply sliding the lens along the guides 31. The lens has a semi-cylindrical outer surface 34 and an end surface 35 which is curved towards a spherical surface.
In order to prevent overheating of the lighting device, a recess 38 is provided in the lens carrier part near the lens end which forms a cooling air inlet through which the air can freely enter, as shown by arrows in FIGS the reflector 27 and the lamp 24 brushing and decreasing the same heat, by natural Kon convection through the slots 39 on the upper side of the openings 40 (Fig. 6) in the end of the screen part exits.
