Removable automatic oven for charring wood. The present invention relates to a removable automatic furnace for the carbonization .dü, wood which makes it possible to obtain a very high yield of charcoal, of wood.
This furnace is characterized by the fact that the part of the furnace in which the carbonization takes place is mounted on springs, so that during the carbonization said movable part rises as the carbonization proceeds.
The main object of this invention is to obtain an automatic adjustment based on the variation in the weight of the fuel during carbonization and to stop the operation of the furnace when the tea weight has been reached: maximum o- riquQ of charcoal that can be drawn from the load of wood in the kiln.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the furnace which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a vertical section of the furnace during carbonization. Fig. 2, represents the oven during the cooling period.
As can be seen in the drawing, the furnace comprises a base formed from two sy metric parts la and lb which are assembled by keying. The sealing between these two parts of the base is done with sand which is pressed against the joint. The base comprises on its periphery a series of vents 2, with adjustable openings by means of caps 3 which are screwed into the bodies of the vents, in order to ensure the primary adjustment for the supply of 'air.
Inside the vents there are valves, 4 actuated automatically by the vertical displacement of the moving part of the oven; -These valves can be progressive or instantaneous closing.
The base further comprises a series of slides 5; these slides -are equipped with springs 6 resting, on the one hand, on desi soles 7 integral with the oven and, on the other hand, on sleeves 8 fixed on-slides by, keys, 9 adjustable in height thanks to a series of holes 10 made on the slide. These springs support the entire weight of the fuel as well as the part of the oven which contains it.
The body of the furnace is formed by cylindrical ferrules 11 with single walls. Chimney elements 12 are attached to the internal face of these ferrules 12. The sealing between the various ferrules is ensured by gutters 13 which are filled with sand. The seal between the lower shell and the key is effected by a gutter 14 which is filled with sand after the furnace loading operation. The oven rack 15 rests on an angle 16 which is integral with the lower ferrule.
The upper part of the oven com carries a false cover 17 with a cap 18 resting in a gutter 19 filled with sand. The false cover 17 and the cover 20 rest in the gutter 21 of the upper ferrule. A chimney 22 is placed in a gutter 23 of the cover.
The chimney is equipped with an automatic adjustment valve 2.4 provided with a lever 25 which is actuated by an adjustable chain 26, on which is interposed a spring 27, fixed to the base by a clip 28. The automatic movement of. valves 4 depend on the vertical displacement of the oven and this movement is transmitted by an adjustable chain 29 on which a spring 30 is interposed.
The control chains of the valves 4 are fixed to a ring 31 encircling the oven and integral with the latter and moving with the mobile part of the oven.
The operation of the oven is. Next lie: The wood to be charred in the oven is placed vertically, taking care to place a temporary fireplace in the center for ignition. When the sufficient amount of wood is piled into the kiln. we proceed to the installation of the false cover and the cover; all the gutters are filled with sand in order to obtain a perfect seal and a few braisettes are poured inside the ignition chimney.
When the oven is lit, the ignition chimney is removed, the false cover is closed with its cap and the chimney is fitted with its automatic adjustment device. The springs which support the furnace being calibrated, show a certain load, the position of the springs after the loading makes it possible to make the initial adjustment.
The oven after loading the wood has therefore stabilized in a lower limit position, we therefore base ourselves on this oven position to adjust the air inlet and gas outlet valves which will be placed in the position of 'opening.
Each load of wood corresponds to an initial adjustment for the control of the valves and their closing is adjusted in such a way that the weight of the fuel inside the oven at the time of closing still represents about a quarter of the weight of the valve. initial load of wood. The variation of the weight of the fuel inside the furnace is easy to follow thanks to a slider which moves on a <RTI
ID = "0002.0076"> graduated slide. The localized central hearth which is located in the middle of the mass of wood creates a call for air which penetrates inside the oven by passing through the grate. Carbonization gases rise.
in the center of the mass in ignition until contact with the watertight partition they overheat and then descend again through the mass of wood, where a part burns by coming into contact with the layers of air that they. meet on their step wise.
If, for any reason, the carbonisation becomes too active, the orifices of the chimneys which are calculated accordingly, are no longer sufficient for this evacuation and the gases, accumulating inside the furnace, re-press the air to the exterior and carbonization slows down and then stabilizes.
As a result of the heating of the false cover, a vacuum is created in the space between the two covers which constitutes an expansion chamber which facilitates the evacuation of the fumes in the various chimneys which originate at the height of the grille. .
As the carbonization progresses, the suspended furnace moves vertically, causing the valve control chains in its movement. The displacement of the furnace depends on the evolution of the weight of the mass which carbonises. The closure of all the valves corresponds to the theoretical maximum weight of the charcoal for said load of wood and thus stops carbonization.
We then go on to the shutdown -and cooling phase by releasing the springs and gradually lowering the oven by means of an appropriate lever <B> until </B> the grid come to rest on the ground :. This first operation having been carried out, the two half-bases which are keyed on the outside are released laterally and the oven bay is carefully read.
The cover, the false cover and the vi roles are then removed up to the level of the coal in the oven. The cover is then put back with its cap in the gutter; of the last vi- Pole, taking care to remake the watertight seal. By this operation, we make available -elements useless for cooling, namely: the base, half of the ferrules, the false cover with its cap and the chimney.
This makes it possible, by having another base ferrule, to mount another furnace which can be started while the first mass as a bonus cools.
The elastic suspension of the oven allows a -rational distribution of the wood according to its density, because as and. As the boss is loaded, all the springs must be applied in the same way and this until the end of the loading.
Reducing the volume of the furnace for extinguishing and cooling eliminates harmful empty spaces left; above and below the coal by the withdrawal of the fuel. If this reduction did not take place, air would continually flow into the furnace as a result of the vacuum created by the condensation of the gases and unnecessarily support combustion.
A particularly interesting variant consists in using the annu lar space included. between the base and the lower ferrule: - use the furnace as the combustion air inlet and remove the vents distributed around the perimeter of the base.
