Fig. 1 ist eine Seitenansicht der neuen Wirknadel.
Needle for knitting machines. The invention relates to such hook needles for knitting machines that are moved back and forth in time depending on special hooks sehliessverbindern or slides. In known needles of this type, the slides slide in smooth U-shaped grooves in the needle shafts.
The groove of such a needle lies in the plane of the needle hook, which starts from the lower part of the groove -des needle shaft and whose tip points in the direction of the groove and lies on a line extending in the longitudinal direction of the shaft between the two groove walls extends. The side walls are tapered in. Direction towards the hook, so. that they find their end essentially at the point of the groove bottom where the hook connects to the shaft.
The tip of the slide is retracted into the groove during the relative reciprocating movement between the needle and the slide and then moved forward to a position in which it covers the needle tip. When both parts work, after a loop has been formed and held in the hook, the needle is moved forwards in the longitudinal direction and the slide is moved in the opposite direction.
As a result, the slider tip is taken up by the groove and the nose is lifted so that it is displaced transversely to the direction of movement of the needle by the curved effect of the inclined edges of the side walls when the needle moves through the loop. The loop then wraps around a part of the shaft in such a way that the slide point passes through the loop when the slide again approaches the needle hook.
However, before the slide tip reaches the hook tip, another Fa is placed over the tapered end of the needle shaft. This further thread is optionally included in the loop formed by the slider tip, which covers the needle hook. Then the slide and needle go back together and the newly formed thread is formed into a stitch through the needle hook and passes through the original stitch, which is optionally thrown off over the slide end and the needle hook.
With this arrangement, the slide and the needle can either be forced to move on straight paths or to oscillate about a fixed axis. In any case, it is not uncommon in practice that the needle and slide, instead of moving in the prescribed paths, move transversely thereto, so that the slide is lifted out of the needle to such an extent that it is open the smooth transition of the stitch on the needle shaft has an adverse effect and prevents the slide from getting too safely through the stitch when it moves onto the hook. The consequence of this is that instead of being thrown off, the stitch remains under the slider while a new stitch is formed.
The consequence of lifting the slider is that it never reaches a position in which it covers the tip of the needle hook enough to form an essentially closed loop in order to drop the stitches formed from the needles and sliders can.
According to the invention, the shaft of the new needle, which is provided with a hook at one end, should be provided with a longitudinal groove that is open to the side of the shaft from which the hook goes out, and which serves as a guide for a the slider covering the needle tip is used. According to a preferred embodiment, the hook should start from a transverse part which serves as a bearing for the side of the slide which is remote from the side with which the slide is supported against the transverse part of the wall bordering the groove.
The transverse part of the wall containing the groove is consequently in such a position that the slide is prevented from being lifted out of the path in which it is in a straight line with the needle hook. The further transverse part of the needle, which is located at the connection between the shaft and the hook, then prevents the slide from moving in the other direction, that is, out of the opening of the groove. The second transverse part forms the base of a further groove, the side walls of which are tapered to lift the mesh so that the slide can pass through it.
According to the method according to the invention, the new knitting needle is manufactured by milling a groove in one side of the needle shaft and a further groove in the opposite side of the end of the needle shaft, which contains the hook, both grooves being formed so that they go into each other to form an opening within the shaft for the passage of the slide.
For a better understanding, the invention will be described using an exemplary embodiment shown on the drawings.
Fig. 1 is a side view of the new knitting needle.
FIG. 2 is a top plan view of the needle of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a side view of a modified embodiment of the needle abge. 4 shows the front part of the needle according to FIGS. 1 to 3 in a longitudinal section and on a larger scale.
Fig. 5 shows a type of fastening of the needle shown in Fig. 1 in a warp knitting machine.
The in Fig. The needle shown 1 and 2 has a straight shaft 1 with a tapered end 2. The shaft is initially solid and is then provided with a groove 3 by a milling cutter 4, as indicated in FIG. 4 with dashed lines. On the opposite side, the shaft is provided with a further groove 5 by a milling cutter 6, as shown in FIG. 4 with dash-dotted lines.
The needle hook 7, which is forged and bent in the die, starts from the transverse part 8 of the groove 5 and the tip of the hook 7 points in the direction of the transverse part 9 of the groove 3, that is to say, the hook starts from the shaft side at wel - rather the groove 3 is open. When the two grooves 3 and 5 are formed, an opening is created between the front edge 10 of the transverse part 9 and the rear edge 11 of the transverse part B.
The sides of this opening are formed by Be tenwandungen 12 (Fig. 2), which result from the milling process. The slide 13, with which the needle shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 cooperates, passes, as shown in FIG. 4, through this opening. The slide tip is formed by a flattened part 13a, which hooks on the needle when working the needle.
The transverse part 9 of the groove 4 prevents the slide tip from being able to move away from the hook tip. The transverse part 8 of the groove 5 prevents the slide tip from missing the hook. The needle according to FIG. 3 is similar to that according to FIGS. 1 and 2, the needle shaft is only bent at 14, as this allows the milling cutter to be guided straight out of the needle shaft at the inclined surface 15 when the groove 3 is formed .
In the arrangement of the needles shown in FIGS. 1 to 4 for warp knitting machines, the attachment shown in FIG. 5 can be used. The rear ends 16 of the needle shafts are embedded in blocks 17, which can be made of lead or synthetic resin. These blocks, each of which carries a number of needles, are fastened side by side along a needle bar 18 by the clamping plate 19. This results in a long row of needles lying side by side and parallel to each other along the needle bar.
The slides are similarly embedded in blocks 20 which are fastened next to one another along a sliding bar 21 by a clamping plate 22. The sliders are of course allocated according to the needles and each slider is bent so that, although it stretches upwards from its block, it enters the groove 3 of the assigned needle and moves relative to it: each slider block 20 carries so many slides like the needle block 17 assigned to it.
When a block is to be removed, screw bolts 24, which secure the clamping plate 22 on the slide bar 21, are removed, as is the clamping plate 22. Furthermore, bolts 23, which secure the clamping plate 19 on the needle bar 18, are loosened so that springs 25 the clamping plate 19 of idem block 17 can lift off.
Then the block 20 in question can be removed together with the block 17 associated with it, while the slides and tongues on the blocks which are not being removed remain in engagement. Clamping the blocks in place does not form part of the present invention.
The slides and needles are moved against each other in straight vertical paths in a time-dependent manner in that the bars are given a back and forth movement in a vertical direction. Some dimensions of the embodiment shown in FIG. 4 have the following values in millimeters: w = 0.66, x = 0.20, y = 0.56, z = 0.48. The dimensions given above are of course given for example, and it goes without saying that the sizes of the new needles can be very different.
The needles and slides can be placed and shaped so that there are essentially no points of contact between them. However, if they are subjected to bending loads by the threads, different points of contact can occur and the cross members 8 and 9 then prevent any undesired deviation between the paths of the needles and those of the slider.
The needles and slides can of course be attached to the execution of straight paths in a horizontal or inclined direction. You can also move on curved paths. In this case, viewed from the side, they must be arcuate.
